Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 1277 - Friday 2021-02-19 - A Day Exploring the City of Dreams

Hello darlings!

Welcome back to another fabulous Friday with your favourite tutu-wearing London explorer, Emma. It’s so good to be back in the city after my whistle-stop trip up north. I miss the rolling hills and crisp air of Derbyshire, but let's be honest, nothing beats London for its endless possibilities and sheer sparkle.

Today, I'm going to tell you about my fabulous Friday adventures, but before we dive into the whirl of the city, let's talk about getting here, shall we?

Journey to London by Train: The Beauty of a Rolling Railway

I adore trains. There’s something magical about watching the scenery unfold, letting the rhythm of the journey lull you into a sense of pure joy. This week, I took the high-speed train from Derby, which, if I'm honest, was such a whirlwind. Before I knew it, I was pulling up at the gleaming platform at St Pancras. You know those glorious clock faces they have in the station? You've seen them on film. Today I actually touched them. I could hardly believe I was actually in the place that only seemed possible in stories.

Of course, my tutu and I took a moment for a photoshoot amidst the flurry of people and train arrivals. Because, darling, you never know where you might find an opportunity for a dazzling Instagram post.

Travel Tip: Even though it's not quite so glam, make sure you keep your ballet shoes close to hand. You'd be surprised how much more graceful a journey by train is when you can easily switch from high heels to flats! I love wearing my custom-made tutus with a good pair of boots, which means I'm never too far away from my dance moves – wherever I happen to be. It's like taking a tiny ballet class on the go!

London: Friday Fashions

My first stop in London, was a must, a trip to Liberty. Liberty London is an amazing shop with gorgeous clothing. It has everything you need from gorgeous dresses, shoes, to amazing gift ideas and home furnishings. I always make sure I’m properly prepped with a killer lipstick shade for these shopping expeditions – after all, who doesn’t want to look absolutely ravishing whilst scouring the racks for that perfect garment?

The streets of London are literally an open-air runway and today was no different! It’s so inspiring, and a constant reminder that fashion can be an extension of your personality and your dance, darling! I saw one particular lady wearing a breathtaking emerald green jacket with a striking pink and green feather hat. It just took my breath away. Of course, I made sure to take a quick selfie with her so I could share the inspiration with you lovely people. Don’t be afraid to experiment, darlings! Fashion is all about celebrating the amazing diversity of who you are, and London is truly a city where this happens organically.

Today was full of so much shopping and I just fell in love with an adorable pale pink beret, which I picked up at a tiny vintage boutique in Soho. This beret just adds a touch of charm and grace to my London look and you just know that it will be featured in many a #PinkTutuLondon adventure in the future! It matches my tutu and shoes perfectly and who doesn’t love an accessory that makes you feel like the princess of the day?

Exploring the London Theatrical Scene

Next up: a visit to the majestic Sadler’s Wells Theatre, which was celebrating the extraordinary career of an amazing female dancer! The theatre is one of the best in the world and there's so much energy in that space.

My outfit for the occasion was my best tutu ( naturally) a blush pink one with shimmering silver sequins. I knew it was a showstopper as I stepped off the train onto the platform in the centre of London. My heart beat to the rhythm of the city – I knew I had made the right choice in pink! It’s just what the occasion called for and even drew attention from some amazing theatre personalities. Who doesn’t love a well-placed flash of pink tutu glamour?

This London journey has been nothing short of a theatrical spectacle in its own right! Today's adventures were just the start of a London whirlwind of inspiration and colour.

### Food and Drink Delights

You know me, darlings! I'm always on the lookout for a delicious afternoon tea. Today’s destination? Fortnum & Mason. Fortnums is a stunning institution steeped in elegance and tradition. My afternoon tea included beautiful miniature pastries and, of course, plenty of delicious tea. It was a moment of pure indulgence that you should definitely add to your bucket list. And who wouldn’t want a pink and cream afternoon tea to celebrate their Friday in London, after a morning of ballet and a dose of shopping, eh?

London’s always a treat!

### Ending My London Day

Today has been a reminder that life is for celebrating, living and dancing, and, if possible, a good old spin in a pink tutu. My adventures have taken me from the bustling platform to the quiet elegance of the best London shops and theatrical stages, reminding me how rich London’s history, creativity, and energy is.

London’s beauty always inspires me to bring out the tutu, add some vibrant colour and maybe even put a pink beret on top – and share all of my adventures with you darlings! Stay tuned for next Friday's London Blog. I'm so excited to tell you all about the events that are going on this week!

Lots of Love

Emma
