Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! 🩰

Post Number 1313 - Friday, 2021-10-29

Hello my darling tutus! It's your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma, and guess what? I'm back in the Big Smoke! London always gets my heart aflutter, it's like a massive, sparkly pink box full of everything you could possibly dream of, from breathtaking theatre performances and fab shops bursting with pretty things, to steaming mugs of hot chocolate with marshmallows in the most delightful cafes. And let's not forget the magical journey by train that takes me there. There's nothing like watching the scenery whizz past and feeling the excitement bubbling up inside as the skyscrapers of London appear on the horizon!

This week, I'm pulling out all the stops for my London escapades, so grab your favourite pink tutu, put on your fanciest frock, and let's head on down for a day of exploring. Buckle up, buttercup, this one is going to be a whopper!

The London Ballet: A Day Out in Covent Garden

As soon as I arrived in London, I was off to Covent Garden to watch "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Royal Opera House. Oh, my darling tutus! Let me tell you, the whole experience was just divine! The dancers, they were like little birds flitting across the stage, so graceful and full of life. The costumes were utterly gorgeous, with shimmery sequins and swirling tulle – I'd be lying if I said I didn't covet every single one! But what truly blew me away was the magical, fairytale world the dancers created on stage. The music was so enchanting, it had me mesmerised from start to finish.

Speaking of costumes, I made sure to look the part for this spectacular show! I paired my favourite baby pink tutu with a delicate black lace top and some elegant silver heels. I couldn't resist adding a touch of sparkle with a silver bow in my hair and a shimmery pink clutch to match my tutu, of course!

After the performance, I indulged in a delicious high tea at a charming little cafe just around the corner. Afternoon tea is such a treat, I can't get enough of it! Finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and delicate little cakes, all washed down with a pot of aromatic English Breakfast tea.

A Shopping Spree in Mayfair

Now, who am I kidding? There's no trip to London without a bit of retail therapy, and I always make sure to stop by the fabulous shops of Mayfair! This is where you'll find all the best designers, and this time I had a lovely chat with the assistant in a small, quirky boutique selling handmade tutus and ballet wear – I snagged a divine new blush pink tutu with hand-stitched flowers, and a soft lavender tulle skirt. I'm dying to wear them out to a dance!

They even have this amazing dress that I can only describe as a cross between a couture ball gown and a vintage ballet costume. It's made from a silky pink fabric with an intricate swirl pattern that just flows, and it's the perfect shade of pink to match my new tutu. Let's just say my wardrobe has been given a very glamorous update!

The Theatreland Tangle

Later that evening, I ventured to the West End for a spectacular musical, a glamorous tale set in a Parisian fashion house, naturally. The costumes were a fashion designer's dream – I loved the intricate beadwork and the luxurious fabrics. The music was utterly catchy, and the actors, they were brilliant. It truly had me hooked from the very first note.

For this occasion, I opted for a stylishly whimsical outfit. A classic black beret sat proudly on my head, accompanied by my trusty navy polka-dot dress with a flowing skirt and white lace details. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without my go-to ballet pumps, which were a little worn but certainly not ready for the retirement home. I couldn't help but let out a little twirl in the aisle while everyone applauded, you just can't resist a twirl after a good performance, now can you?

The London Vibe: A City Full of Life

As much as I love catching shows and soaking in all that London culture has to offer, sometimes the simplest things are the best. I absolutely love just wandering around the streets, taking in the vibrant energy of the city. Whether it's stopping at a cute coffee shop, chatting to friendly shopkeepers, or soaking in the amazing architecture, London always feels like home, even if it's just for a weekend. I know everyone says that London is a bustling, busy city, but you just feel alive in this city!

I had a delicious supper at a quaint restaurant by the river Thames – salmon, asparagus, and the most delicious, fluffy cheesecake for dessert! It's truly incredible how the city's energy blends in seamlessly with nature and I felt so inspired by the beautiful night view of London across the river. I couldn't resist having my picture taken by a charming little man selling postcards who kindly promised me that the picture would end up on my blog. It wasn't exactly candid, but hey! It was an iconic photo opportunity, with a fantastic view of the twinkling city.

More Adventures Await!

My little Pink Tutu adventure in London was, as always, an absolute blast! I am always inspired by the city's creativity, fashion, and captivating history, not to mention the sheer volume of wonderful food available! Of course, I also had a great time embracing the iconic sights like Buckingham Palace, The Houses of Parliament, and, of course, Big Ben.

My heart still feels like it's fluttering, the way a ballerina's heart does when she's about to take center stage, for a London experience is truly like no other. And let me tell you, it's never a dull moment in the capital! The energy is electrifying, the sights are dazzling, and the stories whispered around every corner are truly magical. It's no wonder it’s one of the world's most vibrant, fashionable and inspiring cities. And when you combine that with the magic of the ballet – well, it doesn’t get much better than that!

Next week I'll be back in my own sweet home town, but rest assured, darling tutus, London will be calling my name again soon.

Till then, stay sassy, embrace the pink, and keep twirling!

Lots of love, Emma 🩰 💕
