Pink Tutu Blog London: #1347

Friday 2022-06-24: A Day in the Capital - From Pink Tutued Ballet to London Lights!

Hello, lovelies! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, bringing you another fab Friday from the capital. The Derbyshire countryside has been exchanged for the buzz of London, all thanks to the lovely folk of the Royal Ballet. They were kind enough to let me perform a bit this week, and I thought I’d treat myself to a little London exploration – all in a stunning shade of pink, of course.

It’s been ages since I’ve been able to catch a show on my own, rather than in full ballerina mode, so this was definitely a special day. As you know, I adore trains, especially with their comforting, rhythmic clatter. The carriage I was on today was pretty quiet, which is a bit of a rare treat! I must have caught the eye of a couple of young girls opposite who were absolutely fascinated by my tutu. They're going to be the next generation of pink-clad ballet dancers, I just know it!

Reaching London feels like entering another world. The city, a magnificent spectacle of brick and glass, throbbed with energy, which always sets my heart racing! I'm drawn to the bustle, the laughter, and the sheer amount of humanity, all trying to weave their own stories in this grand, urban tapestry.

First stop: Ballet Heaven

The day started with a treat I just couldn't miss - ballet! A morning at Sadler's Wells theatre for their wonderful "Royal Ballet LIVE" program - what could be better? They showed "The Dream" - Shakespeare's timeless story with the magic of ballet woven through it! And let me tell you, they weren't just twirling, these ballerinas and ballerinos were truly phenomenal. I loved the whole magical ambiance - those costumes! They transported me to another dimension, a fairy-filled world I’m dying to inhabit for just one night.

It wasn't just about the performance. Watching a group of young ballet students – eyes alight with fascination – sitting on the edge of their seats, mesmerized by the skill and artistry before them was so moving. Seeing how inspired they were – it just goes to show you: It's not always about the glitz and glamour. It's the magic, the beauty, and the power of dance to evoke emotions. It can bring you to tears, to laughter, and to a world of sheer delight. It’s why I wear my pink tutu everywhere. I wear it to tell everyone, you can twirl your way to your own magical world!

Shopping, Tea and A Tutu Dress

Every London adventure wouldn't be complete without a little shopping therapy! First stop – Harrods. Now, that is a place that’s like a delicious symphony for the senses – an assault of scents and colours, with a million shimmering trinkets!

Let’s face it, it’s not about what you buy, it’s about the experience – a treat for your inner fashionista!

But let me tell you, after my little wander around, I found a little pink clutch with sequins (who needs to resist, right?!) And let’s just say that the pink tutus for my next show are on order! It wouldn’t be fair to keep them all to myself, you know. I’ve found a fabulous online retailer, they have the cutest tutus - even if they’re not quite the shade of pink I have. I had to buy some. If my tutu game is up, it should make your pink tutu game go up!

I couldn’t escape London without some afternoon tea, a true English tradition. I felt a bit like I was back in Victorian times. So dainty!

After an array of scrumptious pastries, my tea was quickly followed by a trip to the shops that every stylish girl adores – Liberty. Now, you might not have heard of it – but it’s an absolutely fabulous department store and definitely worth a visit for its beautiful architecture and clothes. This visit was about inspiration! So, while I only bought a silk scarf for my ballet bag (I really needed it!), I saw an adorable tulle dress, in - guess what - pink!

Inspiration comes in waves.

I’m already picturing myself strutting about London, with my ballet shoes tucked into my ballet bag - the ultimate statement of feminine flair. Maybe even a few graceful leaps around Trafalgar Square. The world needs a touch of tutued wonder and it's my mission to inspire you to wear one yourself!

The Best Show I Saw All Week

Finally, it was time for a little more cultural enrichment! And this one really did take the cake - a spectacular performance by the West End company of "Moulin Rouge" in Piccadilly. It's an enchanting story of love, dreams and Parisian nights set against a dazzling backdrop of dance, singing and dazzling costumes, so spectacular it's almost impossible to describe! Just think red-hot Parisian passion, dazzling dance moves and singing that chills you to the bone - what more could a girl want? I could see that the story, music and choreography all left its mark on the audience, as well as me, too!

They all were completely swept away into the whirlwind of emotion that the show was spinning! It's a show about daring to dream big and achieving the impossible – two themes that resonate with me and my own personal goals. I dream big too – getting people across the world twirling in tutus! And my little Pink Tutu blog? That’s just my stepping stone towards getting that tutu world dream in motion.

My little Pink Tutu journey isn’t complete yet, of course, but my weekend has just started!

Until Next Week, Lovelies!

It's Friday and I've already embraced the very heart of London – ballet, shopping, theater and all the glamour they bring. I'll be keeping you all updated on all things pink and tutu-ful. Next week, I’ll be at The Royal Opera House. Maybe a performance? Or maybe a little tour! Who knows. Just remember, you’ve got to follow your own story. It's never too late to twirl your own way!
