Pink Tutu Blog London: #1355 Friday 2022-08-19: Exploring London with a Twist of Pink!
Hello my lovelies! It's Friday, the sun's shining (well, it's trying!), and Emma is in London! That's right, this pink tutu-clad ballerina is ready to unleash some magic on the capital!
This week's post is a little different. We're not talking rehearsals, new dance shoes, or the perfect pirouette. This time, it's about London. But fear not, my dear readers, I'll be weaving in some ballet, pink and of course, tutus.
As you all know, Iām a Derbyshire girl at heart. But you could say I have a slightly nomadic spirit! Luckily for me, funding my love for tutus, ballet and travel is easier than it seems. My performances at charity galas and private events have not only given me the chance to spread the love for ballet but also the financial freedom to pursue my dream: seeing the world in a pink tutu!
And thereās no better place to start than London, a city brimming with energy, history and, yes, you guessed it ā incredible fashion! I hopped on the train this morning, my trusty pink suitcase packed with enough outfits to see me through a week of exploration (including, of course, at least five pink tutus ā just in case!).
But first, a little treat for the senses. As the train approached Londonās iconic Kings Cross station, I couldnāt help but grab a quick photo with the magical Platform 9 3/4. A touch of Hogwarts magic before diving headfirst into Londonās vibrant scene!
The London Ballet Love Affair: A Friday in the West EndAnd speaking of magic, thereās nothing quite like a ballet show in the heart of Londonās theatre district. Tonight, Iām going to see āThe Nutcrackerā at the Coliseum. Letās just say, the excitement levels are sky high. A London evening filled with the enchanting sounds of Tchaikovskyās score, beautiful costumes and captivating choreography ā this is what I call a perfect Friday night!
Before heading off to the show, it was time for some well-deserved shopping! My little ballet heart practically skipped a beat when I discovered a hidden gem tucked away in a side street: a shop specializing in gorgeous ballerina shoes! Now, if you know me, you know I have a tiny (or maybe not so tiny) shoe obsession, and this place was a haven for every shade, style, and size. Iām talking ballet flats, slippers, and pointe shoes galore! After indulging in a couple of new pairs of dance shoes (it was for a good cause, really!), I wandered through Covent Garden, where the hustle and bustle of London life mingled with street performers and the sweet aroma of street food.
London really does have a certain magic. Even the most ordinary moments, like taking a sip of afternoon tea in a quaint little cafĆ©, feel special in this city. Itās an atmosphere I canāt quite explain but definitely a sensation I cherish.
The highlight of my day was definitely the ballet performance! Itās amazing how dancers can effortlessly express emotions through their movements, drawing you into their world. For a few magical hours, I was lost in the world of sugar plums, waltzing snow flakes and brave soldiers! And trust me, you can't leave the theatre without a skip in your step and a smile on your face.
Tutu Travels: A City to ExploreTomorrow, Iām embarking on a grand tour of London. The pink tutu will definitely make an appearance! I have big plans to explore the city's museums, take a leisurely walk along the South Bank, maybe even try my hand at pottery at one of the charming studios I spotted. It wouldn't be a London adventure without soaking up the views from the iconic London Eye, either!
And letās not forget about the culinary delights! London is a haven for foodies with incredible food markets, Michelin-star restaurants, and everything in between. A touch of Londonās international flavour is a must-have for my trip, and it seems that Londonās colourful and multicultural street food stalls are the way to go!
You see, my London journey isnāt just about seeing famous sights or taking a stroll through iconic streets. It's about experiencing the energy, the culture, and the beauty of this vibrant city, while also spreading a little pink tutu love along the way! I mean, you know me - a pink tutu isn't just an outfit, itās a statement! A statement of confidence, individuality, and pure joy.

Until next Friday, my lovelies, keep shining!
Love, Emma x
