Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday 2022-08-12 – A London Ballet Bonanza! 🩰
Hello my lovelies! Welcome to post number 1354 on the Pink Tutu Blog London! It's Friday, and you know what that means... it's time to ditch the Derbyshire hills and take a spin around London town!
This week, I'm buzzing with excitement because it's a London Ballet Bonanza! My dance card is full of tutus, shows, and a healthy dose of fabulous fashion. It's a whirlwind of a day, and you know I wouldn't miss it for the world!
A Dash of Derbyshire CharmNow, as some of you lovely lot know, I'm a Derbyshire lass at heart. Those rolling green hills are home to me, but there's something truly special about heading into London, the city that never sleeps! Especially when you've got a tutu in tow and a twinkle in your eye. 😉
This Friday morning, I hopped aboard the train from my Derbyshire nest, feeling like a fairytale princess in my powder pink tutu. It's the perfect way to travel - a touch of magic and a whole lot of comfort. Plus, who doesn't love gazing at the countryside whizzing by?
The Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera HouseI'm not going to lie, darling, the highlight of my day was the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House. There's a certain something magical about being surrounded by so much grandeur - the majestic building, the hushed anticipation in the air, the elegant ladies and dapper gents… it truly feels like stepping back in time. And then, the magic of the dance! To witness such raw talent and artistic passion, well, it simply takes your breath away! The ballerinas, graceful like swans and as strong as oak trees, moved with a fluidity that was mesmerizing. They danced their hearts out, telling a story through their every step, their every twirl. And me? I sat there in my pink tutu, feeling like a tiny fairy in a world of dreams!
I do have to confess, I snagged a quick selfie before the show started (sorry to break the decorum!) – I had to share the wonder on my Insta! 😜
The Covent Garden Flower Market – a Floral Fantasia! No visit to London is complete without a wander around Covent Garden, right? The atmosphere there is just… electrifying. A cacophony of sound, a vibrant explosion of colour, and the irresistible aroma of fresh flowers. Oh, and the buskers! So many talented souls, creating their own magic with their music.
Of course, a flower market is like a magnet for a pink tutu! It just adds another layer of vibrancy to the scene! I took the opportunity to capture some fabulous photos (in my favourite pose, of course, with a hint of tutus!) to share with my loyal blog followers. The vibrant flower displays paired with the pink of my tutu? Simply divine!
Fashion Finds in LondonYou know me, I can't resist a little fashion hunt! After a pitstop at the cutest tea room for a spot of afternoon tea (the cucumber sandwiches were divine, and the Earl Grey was divine, too!), I found myself lost in the labyrinthine streets of London's famous department stores. From the stately beauty of Liberty London to the chic glamour of Harvey Nichols, each shop seemed to hold its own unique allure. I was a girl in a candy shop! 🍭
I spotted some incredible pieces – a pale pink tulle dress, some seriously chic ballet flats in the palest shade of blush, and a vintage clutch that sparkled like a thousand stars. I wasn't exactly "on a budget" today (my ballet performance income keeps me on my toes!), but even if I couldn't snag all these gorgeous treasures, just looking was enough to make my heart happy!
A Tutu for Everyone!Remember, darling, the goal of this blog is to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu at least once in their life! And let me tell you, London was the perfect place to share the joy! From the street performers in their quirky attire to the fashionable ladies walking with their heads held high, everyone seems to embrace their unique sense of style here. And that's what I love about London – it's a city that encourages self-expression. I even spotted a little girl in a pink tutu while I was out shopping, and we gave each other the biggest, most wonderful smile. It's these little moments that truly make my heart sing!
Dinner and a Show at the Theatre Royal HaymarketOh, darling, I was absolutely thrilled to finally see the much-lauded play at the Theatre Royal Haymarket! The theatre is absolutely beautiful, and the play? A witty, heartfelt, and deeply moving masterpiece. And I just had to add a touch of pink to my theatre experience. My pink tutu? A must-have!
The entire evening felt like an enchanting dream. The performance itself was absolutely captivating. It felt like magic. The cast, incredible. The writing, brilliant. I truly believe that London theatre offers some of the finest performances in the world, and the experience at the Theatre Royal Haymarket only solidified this.
Back to DerbyshireAnd as my train journey back to Derbyshire begins, I can’t help but feel a rush of nostalgia and anticipation. Nostalgia, for the enchanting day spent in London, full of colour, music, and of course, a sprinkle of tutu magic. But also anticipation for the next time I venture to London! It’s not just a city, darling, it’s an adventure waiting to unfold. And with my pink tutu packed, and my dance shoes gleaming, I know it will be just as enchanting, exciting and exhilarating.
See you all next week, for more pink tutu fun and adventures, and until then, don’t be shy - wear that pink tutu!
With love and twirls,
Emma
