Hello lovelies! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, Emma, and I'm bursting with excitement to tell you all about my trip to London this week! As you all know, I'm absolutely bonkers for this city. The energy, the history, the fashion - it all just gets my heart pumping like a pliƩ in a grand jetƩ.
Now, let me tell you all about how this trip came to be! I'm not lying when I say I am living my best life right now! My most recent ballet performances in Derbyshire went down an absolute storm. Not only was the applause deafening, but my pockets were lined with enough dosh to make a trip to London entirely possible. That's right - a quick train journey and I was whisked away into the heart of London - a city brimming with style, culture and of course, enough tutu inspiration to last a lifetime.
London By Train, A Timeless Treat
Of course, as a ballerina, I can't resist a journey on the train! Thereās just something so graceful about being transported through the countryside on those trusty iron rails. Plus, I can admire the view, take in the calming sounds and (in the rare occasion that the WiFi cooperates), finish off my ballet blog post for the week!
The Royal Ballet! An Iconic Start
Now, we all know the Royal Ballet is basically like the crĆØme de la crĆØme of ballet performance, and what better place to start my London adventure than there? I just knew that I couldn't possibly visit the city without seeing a world-class performance.
This Friday was all about āManonā, and let me tell you, it was breathtaking! I swear, I could feel the passion and precision radiating off the stage - they practically danced right through my soul! Thereās just something about live performance, the raw emotion and beauty that you just don't get from a screen, it makes you feel completely connected to the moment.
From Swan Lake to Saville Row!
You all know I'm not just about ballet, though! A trip to London is simply incomplete without a touch of haute couture, and Saville Row did not disappoint! I waltzed (figuratively, of course) through those chic boutiques, admiring the craftsmanship and creativity that made the suits just so perfect. It's amazing to see such dedication to tailoring - it truly is a skill, and those suits are pure masterpieces. Maybe a pink tutu tuxedo would be an idea for a future collaborationā¦just saying!
A Pint of Pink...Because We Can
Itās important to unwind after a day of art and fashion, so I found myself perched on a bar stool with a beautiful pink cocktail in hand! Don't worry, it wasn't too much - a ballerina needs her poise! But I do believe a little pink indulgence never hurt anybody! Let's just say I found some really amazing vintage pink cocktails (in glasses shaped like ballerinas of course!), and the conversation was as sparkly as the night itself.
More Than A Shopping Spree, London is About Stories!
Listen, it's not all tutus and tiaras! We wouldn't be real fashionistas if we weren't all about the stories behind the things we wear. Itās these little whispers from the past that really bring an item of clothing alive! Itās a good thing Iāve got a real knack for finding vintage fashion ā that's how I found the most perfect silk scarf ā a delicate pattern of ballerina pink roses, that took my breath away. I know exactly where it will be going on my next stage costumeā¦just imagine, those fluttering flowers moving to the rhythm of the music. Just perfect.
Fashion's Calling, Covent Garden is My Destination!
Oh, Covent Garden. Itās the most divine fashion haven, you guys! I always find myself drawn back here, drawn in by the smell of freshly baked bread from the artisan stalls, the joyous sound of buskers performing live and the endless rows of the most decadent shops, each one just itching to showcase the latest trends and trendsā¦ with a tutu, of course.
My top tip for shopping here? Look down They say London is full of gemsā¦and it's true! Covent Gardenās street fashion is just brilliant, and I saw a stunning collection of pink and black shoes I couldāve happily purchased everything ā my credit card wasnāt happy! I really canāt help myself. That being said, I made sure to get myself the most exquisite pink feather boa ā a real must-have! And donāt worry ā I have my eyes peeled for a tutu collaboration to match it ā canāt wait for you to see it!
Pink Tutu Ballet-Inspired Evening...And It's Only Friday!
The real highlight of my London adventures came on the Friday night - when I took myself out on the town, ballet style! I donned my trusty pink tutu and my best pink feather boa, and waltzed through the crowds like a ballerina in the most delightful show on Earth ā London!
The first stop was a live ballet performance - a ballet street in fact! Street dance has such a vibrant, energetic, contemporary style, and that energy totally rubbed off on me! And can we talk about the music? So full of soul, you could just feel it in the air! My heart is full of excitement and a little ache for a collaboration, to see some of this contemporary energy meet classic tutu vibesā¦oh the magic!
Now, when itās about an unforgettable evening, thereās simply nothing like the theatre. I just knew I needed to be part of a magical show, so I decided to spend my Friday night enjoying an amazing rendition of a Cinderella classic ā and, wouldnāt you know it, it was totally tutu-themed! A delightful fairytale with a beautiful pink-and-blue dress and dazzling, glamorous costumes, which just proves - fairy tales can happen every night of the week. You've simply got to know where to look! And speaking of looking...it wasn't all ballet...a visit to a world-renowned burlesque show added the ultimate touch of glamour to my evening, showcasing the most wonderful mixture of performance and personality. You have to take your hat off to the dedication and energy, every show was amazing and even involved pinkā¦ of course! This is why I love this cityā¦ the constant discovery of beauty in every corner.
