Pink Tutu Blog: London Adventures, Friday 2023-01-27 (Post #1378) 🩰

Hello darlings! It's Friday, and that means a fresh new adventure for your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, Emma! I'm back in London for a whirlwind weekend, thanks to my latest ballet performance which - yay! - scored me enough to get my fix of all things glamorous and London-y! I always get a little twirl in my step when I board the train for the capital. There’s something so magical about leaving my Derbyshire haven behind and heading towards the hustle and bustle of London town!

Fashion & Tutu Focus:

Speaking of my trip, let's talk outfits! Of course, I’m embracing London's fashion scene, and no trip is complete without a fabulous tutu. This week's look? A crisp white linen blouse with puff sleeves – so on-trend! Paired with a light pink tutu with tulle that dances in the breeze, it was a ballet-meets-boho masterpiece. I tied the look together with a coral coloured vintage beret – a nod to London's chic style – and topped it off with my trusty ballet flats (pink, obviously!) London is the perfect backdrop for a tutu-licious look!

A Morning Stroll Through London's Artistic Soul:

Arriving in London, I knew I had to start with a dose of London’s cultural scene. I decided to explore the beautiful Borough Market. Filled with vibrant colours, the smells of freshly baked goods, and the most gorgeous cheeses you’ve ever seen, this place is a true London gem.

While savouring a yummy latte and a slice of artisan sourdough, I watched a street performer playing the accordion, his music adding another layer of magic to the market atmosphere. Seeing talent like that makes me yearn to dance and spin amongst the crowd. The world needs more joy and spontaneity, don’t you agree?

The Play’s the Thing:

Of course, no London adventure is complete without a show! Today’s choice was "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" at the National Theatre. The storytelling was exceptional, and the play’s raw honesty and heart were truly moving. I was in awe of the young actor who played Christopher, the protagonist. He captivated the audience with his unique portrayal, reminding me how much the magic of theatre relies on brilliant performers!

The play had me reflecting on the beautiful imperfections of human nature, and that's why I love theatre so much. It allows us to delve into the depths of our emotions and celebrate life's rich tapestry.

A Dose of Retail Therapy:

London's streets are like a wonderland for any shopaholic, especially someone as obsessed with clothes as me! The West End's retail scene is unbeatable. Today, my main stop was Liberty, which is just pure loveliness. This store always manages to enchant me with its gorgeous floral wallpapers and bohemian vibes. It's a treasure trove of everything from stylish shoes to delicate jewellery and, of course, amazing clothes! I can’t resist their stunning vintage dresses and quirky, eclectic style.

After a brief, but intense, browse, I walked into the beautiful courtyard garden with its peaceful atmosphere and fountain, taking a moment to simply enjoy the beauty surrounding me. I had a sneaky croissant with an amazing pot of chamomile tea and wrote down a few new fashion ideas to keep me inspired – it's all about planning, ladies!

My London Love Affair:

The London I adore is one of creativity, energy and passion. I love exploring its hidden alleys and iconic squares. Every time I return, I'm enchanted by its vibrant mix of history and modernity.

As I gaze out of my hotel window, I'm filled with a deep sense of appreciation. The city hums with life, just like my own heartbeat when I'm in the middle of a dance routine.

The Power of Pink Tutus (and Kindness):

One of the things that makes London so unique is its amazing mix of people from all walks of life. Each person is a story waiting to be told. Today, while enjoying a cuppa at a cute café on a cobblestone street, I struck up a conversation with a kind older woman who sat next to me.

Turns out, she’s an artist who paints landscapes! She told me about her dream to have her paintings displayed in the Royal Academy of Arts. I’m such an advocate for women supporting each other – and for art! So I promised her I’d share her dream on my blog. Maybe it will give her some extra motivation or help her find a patron to display her paintings.

Sometimes, a simple act of kindness, like talking to a stranger, can change someone’s day, if not their life.

Sharing the Pink Tutu Joy:

Speaking of spreading joy, one of the things that gives me such happiness is seeing people wear pink tutus! There is just something about it! The way the colour flatters all complexions and the way it makes you feel – empowered, joyful, confident!

I saw a couple today walking down Regent Street, the man sporting a bright pink tutu. I couldn't help but smile! The joy radiated off them, spreading to everyone who passed them by. The sheer audacity and delight were contagious!

Pink Tutu Mission Update:

And, my lovely readers, you already know this – my ultimate mission is to get everyone in a pink tutu! It's a silly dream, but that’s the point. Life’s too short to be serious all the time. Pink tutus make people laugh and spread happiness. And everyone deserves a little bit of that, right?

It’s funny, because just yesterday, I saw a news article about a woman in Australia who danced down a busy street wearing a bright pink tutu to celebrate turning 40. It’s proof that you’re never too old or too grown up for a pink tutu! In fact, you're only really living your best life when you embrace the things that make you happy.

A London Ballet Dream:

I know many of you share my love for the beautiful art form of ballet. And you can’t talk about London and ballet without mentioning The Royal Opera House! It’s simply stunning, with such history and magic. The last time I went to see "Swan Lake" there, I was overwhelmed by the grace of the dancers and the exquisite beauty of the costumes.

If you haven’t seen a ballet there yet, you’re really missing out. Put it on your bucket list!

Friday Evening: Relaxing and Reflecting

After a long, full day exploring and being swept up in London's magic, I’m back at my hotel room, reflecting on my day and ready to share it with all of you! I can't wait to hear about your own London adventures – leave me a comment and let me know!

I’m starting to relax with a herbal tea (always a calming routine for me, especially after a London day) and getting ready to post all these thoughts and memories on my website. I love reading your comments! What's your favourite part about visiting London? What’s the most pink-tutu-worthy experience you've ever had?

Looking Forward to the Next Tutu Adventure:

As the weekend stretches before me, I’m already dreaming about my next London adventure. There’s so much to explore here, from the bustling shops of Covent Garden to the tranquil walks by the Serpentine in Hyde Park.

One of the things I love about this city is that it allows me to embrace all aspects of my life – from the artistry and discipline of ballet to the fun and flair of fashion, with all the exciting explorations in-between!

Keep your tutus ready for another week, darlings! We've got more adventures ahead!

Until next week,

Emma
