#PinkTutuBlogLondon - Friday 2023-02-03: A Tutu-ful Day in the City
Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, back with another post from #PinkTutuBlogLondon. This week, I'm hopping on a train from my Derbyshire home to the dazzling capital for a day of fun, fashion, and, of course, a touch of tutu magic. It's #PinkTutuFriday - and guess what? It's my 1379th post - can you believe it?! Time really does fly when you're swirling through life in a tutu.
This weekend marks the start of February, a month of love and pink! And let's face it, what's more romantic than a twirling tutu? So, I packed my suitcase with enough pink to paint the entire city, grabbed my trusty tote bag filled with glitter and a good dose of sparkle, and stepped aboard the train. It's a joy to travel by train. You see the world go by - little villages, towns, and all the landscapes in between. And there's always someone to chat to ā I found myself sharing a giggle over my new fluffy pink hat with a couple of ladies headed for a shopping spree!
As I rolled into Londonās King's Cross, a wave of excitement washed over me. London! My beloved city! The place where every dream seems to glitter with just a bit more sparkle! This vibrant, bustling metropolis is like a tutu of excitement: twirling with endless possibilities. I can feel a day filled with Parisian flair and English charm coming on!
Iām going to take you on a whirl through my favourite spots in this enchanting city! But first, letās indulge in a cup of hot chocolate (whipped cream and pink marshmallows are a must!).
Shopping Spree in Mayfair
Every ballerina knows that Londonās Mayfair is a haven for stylish discoveries. It's a ballet lover's paradise of couture shops! And the good news, this weekend they're offering all sorts of incredible discounts - I couldn't resist! You bet your tutu I nabbed myself a stunning pink and gold dress for my upcoming ballet recital, and some stylish ankle boots that just scream āelegant, yet chicā! I found a couple of delicate silk scarves, a matching set of rose-gold earrings (and a stunning pink, feather-covered purse!) which I couldnāt leave without!
Oh, did I mention? It was National Doughnut Day! So we enjoyed the most delicious sprinkle-dusted doughnuts with all the pink icing you could ever dream of. (Yes, I got a pink tutu-themed one, of course!). I canāt resist a sweet treat, especially on a day that is full of excitement and fabulous fashion finds!
The Enchanted World of Ballet
After my shopping adventure, I found myself drawn to the opulent London Coliseum. A perfect backdrop for a delightful afternoon. It is such a classic! For tonightās treat, I'm off to see a breathtaking ballet production: the renowned Royal Ballet performing Tchaikovskyās timeless masterpiece, āSwan Lakeā.
Oh, I cannot tell you how excited I am! The performance tonight promises to be spellbinding, a kaleidoscope of artistry and elegance! Just a few days ago I enjoyed ballet class - oh it feels good to be twirling in my tutu! And I was treated to a deliciously light, sweet and delicate macaroon, my reward for the hard work.
London's Vibrant Street Performances
My next stop was a wander through Covent Garden. Here, amongst the enchanting atmosphere and boutiques, I was captured by the vibrant street performances!
There were street dancers - you can't go anywhere in this city without encountering the most awe-inspiring displays of athleticism and passion. Then, there were musicians serenading passersby with a mix of traditional tunes and modern masterpieces - I simply loved it.
I was mesmerised by a talented young violinist. The melody carried on the wind, blending in with the laughter and chatter of Londoners, while I enjoyed the sunset on a beautifully warm, Friday evening. It was pure enchantment. I wish I could bottle those magic moments and save them for a rainy day.
An Evening of Theater and Glitter
As night descended, I felt drawn to the West End, Londonās theatre district. And tonight, a real theatrical treat! "The Mousetrap" has been captivating London audiences for years with its captivating story and dramatic twist! The Theatre Royal, with its charming red velvet and rich gold embellishments, transports you into a world of timeless allure. Itās the perfect setting for this legendary play.
It's a masterpiece of British theater that takes you on a journey through mystery and intrigue! I absolutely adored the sets - like stepping back in time! I especially loved the performance, it had the audience on the edge of their seats the whole time. The talented actors brought the characters to life. The play truly reminded me why the British theater holds a special place in my heart - itās an art form that sparks our imaginations and fuels our love for storytelling. And speaking of storytelling... did you know "The Mousetrap" holds the world record for the longest continuous run? The theatre is known for the fact that after every performance, thereās a special message asked of all audience members: not to reveal the killer. This is something unique to "The Mousetrapā - and something I will definitely hold onto.
Last but not leastā¦ Food Glorious Food!
You know I love all things delicious, so a culinary adventure was a must! A day in London wouldnāt be complete without a taste of authentic British fare! So after my theater visit, I walked down to my favourite cafe - "Pink Pepper" (with a perfect, almost embarrassing, pink color palette!). And boy oh boy, the food here is just as wonderful as the cafe's vibrant decor!
They have a selection of dishes - both traditional British classics and more contemporary twists on modern favorites. I have to admit to trying a couple of my personal favorites.
I couldnāt resist trying a juicy and savoury pie, followed by a wonderfully fragrant and spicy fish and chips! (A quintessential British dish!) But honestly, the star of the show has to be the decadent desserts - with their intricate piping and eye-catching colours! (Of course I chose pink-inspired! - It is a personal requirement! And I was not disappointed. My taste buds were happy!).
A Touch of London Magic
My day wrapped up at dusk with a breathtaking view of Londonās skyline! It was truly beautiful: from the majestic towers to the iconic bridges and everything in between - a perfect and poignant goodbye to my tutu-tastic London adventures!
Before boarding the train, I treated myself to a couple of hot chocolate from the train stationās cafe - with a scone and cream! This truly is my favourite way to travel. Watching the countryside drift past while I indulge in all those classic British treats - and the anticipation of arriving back in Derbyshire, ready for another weekend of ballet!
So, my sweethearts! Thatās my London #PinkTutuBlogLondon post for this week - but I have an announcement! Because we are now at the beginning of February! This year is all about embracing pink - so stay tuned - I've got a super special āPink Loveā post coming your way next week! Be sure to visit www.pink-tutu.com next Friday.
