Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #1409 - Friday, September 1st 2023: London Calling!
Hello darlings!
Emma here, and oh my goodness, London, you are a whirlwind of excitement! As I sit here, sipping on a delicious latte in a quaint little cafe, watching the world go by, I'm filled with so much joy. I arrived this morning, fresh off the train from Derbyshire (with a suitcase overflowing with pink tutus, naturally), and I am ready to take on the capital city in a flurry of tulle and twirls!
Today, my loves, is all about exploring! You know how much I adore travelling by train. It's the perfect opportunity to slip into my favourite tutu (today it's a fluffy, cloud-like creation in the softest blush pink), grab a good book, and soak up the ever-changing landscape as we journey through the countryside.
My aim today is to soak up all that London has to offer - the charming hidden corners, the bustling markets, the iconic landmarks - all through a distinctly pink-tutu-ed lens, of course!
The Magic of Covent Garden
After settling into my darling little hotel room (which, let me tell you, is decorated with the most charming vintage posters of ballerinas), I took the tube to Covent Garden. I adore this neighbourhood with its street performers, colourful flowers, and beautiful architecture. You wouldn't believe the incredible street art, my loves! It was like stepping into a living gallery, bursting with vibrant colours and artistic flair.
I simply had to capture a few moments in my pink tutu for my Instagram, which is naturally flooded with tutus, and oh my, you should have seen the reactions of the people passing by! So much joy and delight – that's what I aim to achieve, you see, bringing a little bit of ballet magic and whimsical flair to the everyday!
Afternoon Tea and a Touch of Pink
Then it was time for afternoon tea, a must-do when in London! The tea room I went to was the absolute definition of quintessentially English: floral wallpaper, antique china teacups, and an air of gentle elegance. My fingers, oh, my darling readers, they were covered in dainty cucumber sandwiches, finger sandwiches filled with fluffy egg mayonnaise, and buttery scones with dollops of jam and cream. Blissful!
The whole experience was just divine, topped off by a cup of Earl Grey tea and, of course, a pink macaroon for the perfect finale! It really wasn't complete without my trusty pink tutu, which paired oh-so-perfectly with the delicate pink roses on my table setting. I was the ultimate picture of tea-time sophistication in my twirling pinkness, it was fabulous!
A Symphony of Colour at The Royal Opera House
As the evening descended, the true reason for my trip to London finally revealed itself - a show at the glorious Royal Opera House! The ballet is a truly magnificent thing to witness, isn't it? And to be in the Royal Opera House is something truly special.
The building itself is a triumph of Victorian grandeur, and my heart literally skipped a beat when I stepped through the doors. As I wandered through the opulent halls, taking in the gilded statues and breathtakingly intricate architecture, I knew this evening was going to be a dream.
The performance tonight was breathtaking! It was a story told entirely through dance and music - graceful movements, powerful leaps, and such incredible emotion poured into every single step. I have been doing ballet for almost all of my life, so when I see a beautiful performance like this it stirs my soul and I feel so much love for my art form.
An Encore of Tutu Dreams
Back in my little hotel room, I am utterly exhausted, yet buzzing with the thrill of the day. The world of pink tutus and London’s charm have woven their magic on me today, and as I write these very words, I am already dreaming of all the wonderful adventures awaiting me.
I’ve got the ballet, the shopping, the exploring, the cafes – the very best that London can offer. It’s everything and more, truly, a fairytale experience that has made this tutu-loving heart sing with delight!
Until next week my loves, do join me here on www.pink-tutu.com every Friday!
Happy twirling, Emma x
