#PinkTutuBlogLondon - Friday 2023-08-25: A Tutu-tastic London Day Out! 💖🩰

Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu aficionado, and I'm absolutely bursting with excitement to share today's adventures with you! It's Friday, which means it's time for another instalment of my London blog. And, as you all know, this means it's time to don my favourite pink tutu and explore the captivating streets of this incredible city. 😉

This week, I embarked on my journey from my beloved Derbyshire countryside straight to the heart of London. The train journey was a symphony of sunshine streaming through the windows and the gentle sway of the carriages, a perfect setting for planning my London escapade. I couldn't resist picking up a cuppa at the buffet car, settling down with my favourite book, "The Little Pink Tutu Book", a whimsical tale I often carry with me for a touch of tutu magic on the go!

My first stop upon arriving at Euston Station? Why, a delightful afternoon tea, of course! You know me, I just can't resist the charming English tradition of delicate sandwiches, scones with clotted cream (don't even get me started on how good those are), and of course, a whole pot of steaming Earl Grey. All this, surrounded by the beautiful interior of a lovely cafe – bliss!

Fuelled by a sugar rush and brimming with anticipation, I decided to make my way to the West End, my favourite stomping ground for everything theatrical. As I walked, my gaze was captivated by the vibrant street life, the colourful shops overflowing with tempting treats and accessories, and the tantalizing aroma of freshly-baked pastries emanating from the countless bakeries. It truly is a feast for the senses!

Today was a particularly special Friday, you see, because it marked the opening night of the brand-new production of “Giselle” at the Royal Opera House. Naturally, my heart fluttered with excitement! I had booked tickets months ago, and the anticipation had been bubbling within me ever since. To celebrate the occasion, I even donned my most extravagant pink tutu, the one with the cascading tulle layers and the sparkling rhinestones that shimmered under the afternoon sun. I felt like a true princess of the ballet world!

The theatre was abuzz with excitement. People in their finery poured in, eager to witness the magic of ballet. There was a tangible hum of anticipation in the air, as if everyone in the audience knew we were about to witness something truly special.

And let me tell you, the performance did not disappoint! The dancers were breathtaking. Their grace and elegance, the power and passion they brought to every step and gesture, it was pure artistry. I felt myself swept away by the story, tears welling in my eyes as the dancers conveyed such powerful emotions with their every movement.

It was a performance I'll never forget, and the perfect way to spend a Friday evening in London. It made me appreciate the enduring power of ballet – it’s an art form that transcends language and speaks to our very souls.

But the magic wasn’t over yet! After the curtain call, my heart, still pulsating with the sheer artistry of the performance, decided that I simply had to make my way to the Ballet Boutique in Covent Garden. This is a veritable haven for all things dance-related, and my feet, spurred by an unquenchable thirst for new tutu discoveries, could barely contain my excitement.

It's a shop filled to the brim with every possible ballerina’s delight – from leotards and tights in all colours of the rainbow (with a heavy focus on pink, of course!), to pointe shoes and ballet slippers that practically sang with the promise of twirls, to the most exquisite tutus I've ever laid eyes on. My eyes widened with awe, and my heart leaped with a joy that only a tutu-loving soul like me could comprehend!

I found myself amidst a swirling sea of satin and tulle, each piece more elaborate and glamorous than the last. In that moment, it felt like stepping into a fairy tale!

After a thorough examination of the shelves (and several envious glances at the tutus adorning the mannequins), I decided to indulge myself in a new pair of tights. Why, after all, can a tutu enthusiast ever have too many pairs of beautiful tights? Especially not when they are the kind that feel as soft as silk against the skin and shimmer like stardust in the light!

My final stop before making my way back to the train station for the journey home? Well, that was none other than Liberty London. A haven of vintage charm and modern elegance, a shopping experience unlike any other, this is a store that truly embodies the London spirit. With its historic facade and charmingly intricate interiors, I could have easily gotten lost in its endless labyrinth of beautiful boutiques.

I ventured into a little shop filled with colourful clothing, where I discovered a pink sequined dress that whispered a charming invitation to me. With a light sigh, a giggle, and a glance at my ever-growing ballet fund, I succumbed to the call of that glittery little number. My closet (and my heart!) are simply thrilled about the addition of such a flamboyant, tutu-friendly frock!

Before departing, I made sure to purchase some local honey for my parents, because, what's a trip to London without a souvenir that tastes as sweet as the experience? I have a confession to make: I almost picked up another tutu too, just because I couldn't resist the appeal of the elegant creations on display. But my travel bag was already starting to overflow with goodies, and I thought better of it (for now!).

This week’s London adventure reminded me of something I've been feeling for a while now: it's so much fun exploring this vibrant city and experiencing its many wonders. London is a place that always welcomes you with open arms, regardless of whether you're a seasoned Londoner or a visitor like myself. Its energy, its history, its sheer captivating charm – it never fails to amaze me!

You can join my London adventure by visiting my blog on my website, www.pink-tutu.com, and keep checking back for my weekly blog updates every Friday. You can follow me on Instagram too, @EmmaPinkTutu! It's been a long week, but it was definitely worth every second. See you all next Friday!

P.S. I'm starting to notice that the number of tutus I own has a tendency to increase whenever I'm in London. It might be a coincidence, but I like to think that there’s a certain London magic in the air that encourages me to embrace the tutu lifestyle a little more wholeheartedly than usual!
