Pink Tutu Blog London: #1407 Friday 2023-08-18 - A Pink Tutu Day in London! 🩰💖
Hello my lovelies, and welcome to this week's edition of Pink Tutu Blog London! I’m so excited to share with you the fabulous adventures of my Friday trip to the Big Smoke, fuelled by pink tutus and the sheer joy of ballet. Let me tell you, my pink tutu wardrobe got a proper workout!
This week, I felt the pull of London like a magnet. It was like the city itself was calling out to me, begging me to waltz down its bustling streets and spin in its glittering heart. After a week of rehearsing for the upcoming ballet production of The Sleeping Beauty in Derbyshire, a London escape felt oh-so necessary!
The Railway Journey
My train journey started with the most wonderful, shimmering sunrise. The sun bathed the rolling Derbyshire hills in a warm glow, and I couldn't resist a cheeky little pirouette at the station platform as I snapped a quick pic in my favourite blush-pink tutu – the one with the sparkle! My love affair with the train remains, especially when adorned with the appropriate pink outfit, naturally.
First Stop: Covent Garden
Arriving in London, the energy buzzed around me! The city pulsated with excitement. I headed straight for the heart of it all: Covent Garden. This charming piazza never disappoints, and I just love wandering through the market stalls, browsing everything from quirky vintage treasures to delicate hand-made jewellery. Today, though, it was a specific piece of sartorial perfection that caught my eye – a blush pink chiffon scarf adorned with a shimmering silver fringe. I just knew it was meant to be mine.
But who can resist a quick pit stop at a sweet little patisserie? After a croissant and a frothy latte, I felt refreshed and ready for some serious sightseeing. The floral decorations of Covent Garden, vibrant and whimsical, were a delight to the eyes, especially when juxtaposed with my pink tutu.
An Afternoon in the West End
As a tutu-wearing ballerina, the West End is my happy place. With the smell of freshly popcorn, the bustling energy of theatregoers, and the sheer magic of live performance, it's a true spectacle. Today, I had a ticket to Phantom of the Opera. Yes, the classic. I’m a big fan of the Phantom himself, but this particular performance was nothing short of incredible. The singing was spectacular, the staging was absolutely breathtaking, and of course, my pink tutu blended seamlessly with the whole theatrical experience. It truly was a captivating affair, with a poignant story and dazzling artistry.
Dinner and Dance
After the theatre, I dined in a delightful French bistro with the most charming staff. A glass of crisp Sauvignon Blanc (paired perfectly with my outfit, of course) and a delectable croque monsieur felt like a perfect way to celebrate a day in the capital.
Next, it was time for a little ballet-themed fun. I had heard tell of a "ballet street party" in Covent Garden, and let me tell you, it was a dream come true. Groups of people were dressed in various shades of pink, twirling to classic ballet melodies under the starry London sky. Some even had on their own pink tutus! I have to say, the atmosphere was electric!
Last Call: Pink Dreams
After the street party, my legs felt a little tired (all those twirls take some stamina!), but I was so full of energy and good spirits. London is magical, isn’t it? This was the perfect end to a perfect day in the city, and as I headed back to the train station, I caught myself daydreaming about the next pink-tutu fuelled adventure.
Outfit Rundown:
I love sharing what I wore, so here is the break-down:

To Everyone Out There...

What to see in London on 2023-08-18
Just in case you are looking for inspiration for your own pink tutu filled London adventure here is a quick run-down of what's on:
Art:
- The Royal Academy of Arts: Exhibiting a current display by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan titled, “L’Amico”, his most personal exhibition to date.
- Tate Modern: You can check out a permanent exhibition from Pablo Picasso and the late Yayoi Kusama, an icon in modern art, for those seeking something bolder, as well as the “Picasso 1932 – Love, Fame, Tragedy” Exhibition, if that’s more to your taste.
- The National Gallery: Currently hosting an exhibition on one of the world's most beloved masterpieces – the Virgin of the Rocks by Leonardo Da Vinci, and a separate display dedicated to Michelangelo.
Performances:
- Phantom of the Opera: As I mention, it was a delightful experience.
- The Lion King: A breathtaking show that always brings an appreciative tear to my eye. It really has it all – singing, dancing and some amazing costume work.
- Moulin Rouge!: I haven’t been myself but hear it is a super glamorous production with stunning costumes and dance sequences. I really want to go see it.
Other Suggestions:
- Take a ride on the London Eye for a spectacular view of the city.
- Go on a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey.
- Explore the stunning architecture of Kensington Palace or Buckingham Palace (if you get the opportunity to catch a changing of the guards, you’re in for a real treat!).
- Enjoy a leisurely stroll through Regent’s Park and take a moment to marvel at its stunning roses.
I hope this gives you a few more pink-tutu-inspired ideas for a fun day in London!
Some Additional Ideas for Blog Post Content
Here are a few ideas you can sprinkle in, or build upon, to fill out your 2600 word count.
- A section on “Where I found my Tutu”. For this post, you could even include an anecdote of shopping in Derbyshire.
- Pink Tutu Photo Inspiration. Instead of just describing your outfit, why not use your blog to inspire others with fun poses or settings. Think a carousel of images where your outfit changes with the scenery – maybe the park, maybe a balcony, a London Underground station. (Safety first!)
- *A pink tutu related craft. * Something to do at home for readers like decorating their own tutus, painting or decorating ballet shoes.
- Make up your own "Pink Tutu Game". It can be fun to add little participatory elements. Here are a couple ideas:
- Have people send you their favourite pink outfit pics on social media.
- A “what-to-wear” style challenge where they need to incorporate pink and something ballerina inspired.
Let me know what you think. I’d love to see you write more of these Pink Tutu Blog London posts. Let's spread the joy of pink and dance! 💖🩰
