Pink Tutu Blog London #1425: A Tutu-tiful Day in the Big Smoke! 🩰💖
Hello, darlings! It's Friday, and that means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog London adventure! This week, I'm bringing the magic of tutus to the heart of London, a city that truly embraces its inner ballerina! 🎉
You might be wondering how I get to London every week to bring you all these exciting stories. Well, my lovelies, it's all thanks to my delightful career as a freelance ballet dancer. My trusty tutu and I travel across the country, performing in stunning theatres and charming community halls. The joy I get from spreading the joy of dance far outweighs the occasional late night train journey! 🚂
And speaking of train journeys, my journey to London this week was filled with excitement and the promise of a fab Friday in the capital! I'd spent the last week getting my "London-ready" look together, and trust me, my outfit was something else. A bubblegum pink tulle tutu, of course! Paired with a dazzlingly bright, ruby red leather jacket for that touch of city chic, and my favourite sparkling pink platform heels. It's all about colour, darlings! And that's just me - I even saw a young lady with a bright yellow beanie and a bright green jacket, with pink glittery eyeshadow. My kind of city! 😄
My journey down from Derbyshire was so fun, thanks to the lovely chatty group I found myself seated next to. There was a granddad on his way to visit his grandkids, a young lady just starting her first job in London, and a delightful pair of sisters on a day trip. As soon as they saw my tutu, the chatter turned into excited questions about where I was headed, what I was going to see, and my "secret tips for surviving London." Well, I was happy to share, but as everyone knows, it's all about the tutu. And my pink one, I'll admit, was an excellent conversation starter. 😊
Arriving in London Paddington, I was filled with the same giddy excitement I felt as a child discovering the magical world of a toy shop. Everything seemed a little bigger, brighter, and a touch more theatrical in this buzzing city!
My Itinerary for a Tutu-tastic Friday
First up, a coffee date with my fabulous fashion friend, Millie. You might have seen Millie on the blog before – she's a style icon and has helped me refine my sense of “tutu style" - think colour, sass, and never a dull outfit. She runs the "Miss Millie's Vintage Boutique" shop, with its vintage pieces, sparkly shoes and a constant supply of beautiful fabrics, a haven for all things flamboyant.
After catching up on all things fabulous, we strolled through the streets of Notting Hill. There's no denying that a Saturday market can be a chaotic cacophony, but the atmosphere is vibrant and the fashion scene is always captivating! Millie was, of course, hunting for unique vintage pieces, and I was on the lookout for pink. I was delighted to find a little shop on Portobello Road that sold nothing but vintage tutus. Imagine my joy, I found a blush-pink satin one from the 1950s! Now that's what I call "tutu-taly unique!"
From Markets to the Stage: Ballet Bliss
Speaking of tutu-tally unique, my next stop was the Royal Opera House to see a matinee performance of “Swan Lake” - yes, it’s the most iconic of all the classical ballets. The building itself is stunning, steeped in history and buzzing with theatrical energy. As soon as you walk through the doors, you can feel the magic. I actually think it might have something to do with the glorious chandelier. A massive dazzling affair, I was lucky enough to take a photo by it (well, a selfie… it’s 2023 after all) with my tutu and the famous chandelier.
Fashion and Fushion: A Delicious Conclusion
After the performance, Millie and I took a quick trip to Covent Garden, one of my favourite parts of London. There, the shops were overflowing with fashion inspiration. I found myself at a beautiful boutique called "Alice & Wonder" which has the most beautiful designs of shoes, accessories and all sorts of dreamy outfits. The fabrics, the colours and the designs were simply divine!
Of course, no visit to Covent Garden is complete without a spot of afternoon tea at The Savoy, the perfect blend of old-world charm and chic city style. We devoured a delicious assortment of scones, cakes and finger sandwiches, all while soaking in the atmosphere of this iconic establishment. The vintage vibes paired with delicate china made it a quintessential London experience.
This Friday's adventures really reinforced the simple fact: London truly is the perfect destination for any tutu enthusiast! Whether you’re taking in the theatre, browsing vintage shops, or just strolling the bustling streets, you're guaranteed a magical and utterly fabulous time!
But I mustn't forget about our theme this week, darlings. It’s all about finding the perfect Pink Tutu for YOU. And I can promise, it exists! I am confident that there is a pink tutu, somewhere out there, in the big wide world, that’s meant for you.
So don't forget, if you're planning a trip to London, let your inner ballerina loose and find your own piece of tutusational magic! 💖 🩰
Until next week, keep twirling and always wear your pink tutu with pride! 💕
Lots of love,
