Pink Tutu Blog London #1426: Friday, December 29th, 2023 - A Tutu-tiful Day in the Capital! 🩰

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink-loving ballerina, back from a whirlwind trip to the capital! Oh, London, you never fail to steal my heart! It was a Friday treat for this girl, and with the promise of some incredible ballet, exciting shopping sprees and a touch of theatrical magic, I knew this day was going to be a truly tutu-ful one!

This time, I skipped the car and hopped aboard the train from my home in Derbyshire, relishing the journey through the English countryside. The chugging of the train, the familiar countryside scenes whizzing past the window – it’s all so relaxing! It’s no wonder travelling by train is a big part of the “Pink Tutu” philosophy, especially in London! So much easier to navigate the busy city without the stress of driving, right? 😉

London welcomed me with its familiar hustle and bustle, a symphony of honking taxis, chatter, and the joyous tunes from street performers. You know me, I love a good street performance! Even the pigeons looked more stylish here. They've definitely embraced the London fashion scene! 🐦

The air crackled with a certain energy; everyone was out and about, ready to embrace the weekend, a contagious buzz of excitement I simply adore! Today’s aim? To fill my London diary with some lovely pink moments, of course.

First stop, the West End!

I simply couldn't miss the dazzling spectacle that is the "Matilda the Musical" at the Cambridge Theatre. Now, let’s be real, every performance of Matilda is pure magic, but today, with my pink tulle tutu, and my trusty companion (the most glamorous pink beret I could find) it was pure delight! The stage was bursting with colour, the songs were incredibly catchy (even days later, they're stuck in my head!) and the young cast, they were absolutely sensational. Seriously, such talent!

This kind of magic always makes my heart soar, the stories told through the grace and precision of the dance, the power of the music – it’s truly mesmerizing. Afterwards, we indulged in a spot of hot chocolate and yummy cakes, perfect for refuelling after that whirlwind of theatrical emotions. ☕🍰

A Ballet Break at the Royal Opera House!

After our matinee, it was time to truly dive into the heart of ballet at the Royal Opera House! It’s one of the most incredible locations in London – think intricate architectural details, historical significance and stunning performances, oh my! I popped in to see the “Sleeping Beauty" dress rehearsal, which was truly a privilege! Watching the dancers polish their technique, refining the choreography was such an inspiration. There's nothing quite like the intensity and grace of a dress rehearsal. Seeing the dedication of those performers up close… it makes you want to twirl and pirouette around your living room the second you get home!

Shopping and Chic Style Inspiration

What’s a trip to London without a bit of retail therapy? I’m such a fan of the independent boutiques and the unique pieces they carry, it’s an amazing way to get away from the mass-produced stuff you find on the high street. I particularly adore all the colourful vintage stores; so much potential for new tutus, scarves and hair accessories to give my outfit a bit of a London twist!

Londoners really know how to rock a chic look, don't they? Whether it's a well-tailored coat and boots for the cooler days, or flowy dresses and colourful headbands for those sunnier moments – there’s so much fashion inspiration on every corner! And I always love to try a little “street style” – adding a vibrant, colourful touch to a casual outfit with a silk scarf or a vintage brooch.

Oh, and I just couldn’t leave without some pampering at my favourite pink beauty spot – “ Nails on the Nile” just off Oxford Street. Pink sparkly polish for this girl, naturally!💅

Finishing the Night with a Splendid Dinner

Ending the day with a delicious dinner at “ The French House”, a quaint and quirky bistro in Covent Garden – the perfect location for some delightful French cuisine and a glass of rose! (After all, it’s got to be pink!) 🥂

So, darlings, this London adventure was absolutely magical, and I’ve definitely got a new burst of inspiration to share with all of you! It's time to fill your lives with pink, and remind yourself that every day can be a little tutu-ful! 💖
