Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday 2024-01-05 - A Tutu-ific Day Exploring the Capital!
Post number 1427 - Welcome back, darlings! It's Friday, the sun is shining, and my tutu is ready for another London adventure. As you know, my week was spent twirling my way through the Derbyshire countryside, performing at a wonderful village hall ballet – such an audience, they were absolutely delightful! The village hall might not be the Royal Opera House, but it had such a charming atmosphere and it always feels extra special when I get to perform in a new location. And the applause was just as thunderous! Now, a quick pit-stop at home, a quick change into a brand new pink tutu (you can't go to London in an old tutu, can you!), and I’m hopping on the train, heading straight for the capital.
London, Oh London, you’re a sight to behold. From the moment the train pulls into Kings Cross Station, I'm swept up in a wave of excitement. This city always has so much to offer! This time I'm staying in a little boutique hotel in Bloomsbury, tucked away on a quaint street lined with red double-decker buses and charming tea shops. As I step out of the hotel and into the hustle and bustle of the city, I can't help but feel a sense of childlike wonder. It's all so glamorous and exciting. And of course, a trip to London isn't complete without a visit to my favourite department store, Liberty. I love that iconic art nouveau facade – so stylish and full of personality! I’m also planning a visit to the ballet at Sadler’s Wells – I’ve heard it's an absolute must-see, and there's nothing I love more than seeing incredible performances by dancers that truly inspire me!
London’s got so much character – a beautiful blend of the old and new. From the ancient majesty of Buckingham Palace to the cutting edge boutiques of Soho, there's something to ignite your imagination on every corner. I'm already dreaming about finding that perfect, showstopping tutu at one of the independent boutiques.
Speaking of tutus… I must confess that this week I'm in love with this gorgeous blush-pink tulle number with sparkling silver embroidery! You see, finding the perfect tutu isn’t just about the style; it's about that feeling it gives you. It needs to be the perfect mix of whimsical, elegant, and effortlessly confident.
This is the life! Waking up in London, the buzz of the city filling my ears, and the possibilities just radiating outwards. Today I'm feeling so inspired – the shops, the people, the atmosphere – everything about this city just whispers tales of creativity and confidence.
But I must confess, the London eye makes me a little bit dizzy. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful – it's amazing to have such a panoramic view of the whole city. However, my stomach… You see, it doesn't exactly love heights. Still, it’s one of those things you need to do at least once! My stomach might complain, but my heart and soul soar as I gaze out at the majestic skyline. I think I would feel less anxious about heights if I could just be dancing on the giant wheel. Perhaps in the future I could lead a ballet flash mob on top of the London eye, I'm just picturing it now!
Speaking of majestic, the Tower Bridge is always an absolute must on any London visit! It’s a magnificent sight and I can’t help but twirl and take it all in!
Of course, no trip to London is complete without a walk through Hyde Park, a little fresh air is always good for the soul. And then… my absolute favourite spot to eat - a little cafe just by the lake. It has the most divine gluten-free scones – a definite must for anyone following a gluten-free diet, trust me, they are amazing!
After lunch, it's time for a little indulgence. And what's a little indulgence in London without a cup of afternoon tea? It wouldn’t be a real Pink Tutu Blog London experience without that quintessentially British ritual. I can't think of anything more decadent than enjoying a pot of fragrant tea, delicate finger sandwiches, and, of course, the obligatory scones, all whilst surrounded by charming interiors, friendly staff, and the gentle clatter of cups. I found this beautiful little tea room nestled in Kensington Gardens; it has the most delightful vintage vibe and their tea was so aromatic.
You know me – I love to explore every corner of the city! Whether I’m waltzing through the Victoria & Albert Museum admiring their incredible fashion collections, or soaking up the theatrical atmosphere at Shakespeare’s Globe, or catching a show at the Barbican Centre, London just has that magical, never-ending excitement about it! It always keeps you on your toes, and today was definitely no exception.
Later, as dusk starts to settle across London, the city really comes to life, twinkling like a fairytale. The glittering lights illuminate the majestic architecture and I can’t help but feel inspired.
As I hop back onto the train for the journey home, my heart is filled with that post-London happiness It’s a feeling of having had an unforgettable experience – of having fallen in love with this beautiful city just a little bit more.
Until next Friday, darlings. Keep twirling! I can't wait to share another week of Pink Tutu adventures with you, right here on my blog!
