Pink Tutu Blog London: #1457 - A Tutu-tastic London Adventure! 🩰💖

Hello my darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog London! It’s Friday, the sun’s shining (well, mostly!), and my pink tutu is positively shimmering with excitement as I share another delightful day exploring the vibrant heart of London!

As a self-proclaimed "Tutu-ist", I always believe it's a good idea to sprinkle a bit of pink and tulle into the world, and my trip to London is certainly no exception! For those who are new, let me introduce myself - Emma, a ballerina at heart, and the proud owner of a seriously impressive tutu collection! Every week I head out, usually on the train - I love train journeys - to explore a new city, experiencing the world in my signature pink tutu and documenting my adventures for you all on www.pink-tutu.com. My trips are all fuelled by the magic of ballet. I get to experience the joy of dancing and sharing that joy by turning my performances into the perfect travel fund!

This week, I travelled down to London from my Derbyshire home on the trusty old train, as ever, with a suitcase filled with pretty pink outfits and a few carefully chosen tutus for the occasion - because London is always ready for a splash of pink!

Friday Funday!

Arriving at Kings Cross Station, the bustling energy of the city hit me immediately. My trusty pink polka dot suitcase felt a little out of place amongst the standard grey holdalls, but I couldn’t help but feel proud to be standing out from the crowd with my cheerful pink glow. I must admit, there were a few surprised glances as I sashayed out of the station - clearly my tutu had its own unique charm, bringing a touch of fun and whimsicality to the serious world of commuting.

My first mission on this London trip was to find the perfect afternoon tea spot. After all, you can't explore a city like London on an empty stomach, and what could be more delightful than an afternoon of delicate finger sandwiches, scones with lashings of clotted cream and strawberry jam, and of course, endless cups of the most wonderful tea?

My tutu, which featured delicate pink sequins and a fluffy tulle skirt, swished gracefully as I made my way down the street, the sun reflecting off the twinkling embellishments, attracting many "oohs" and "aahs". It's funny, there's something about a tutu that brings out everyone's inner child. I see so many smiles as I walk around, it just brightens up the day for everyone!

After much deliberation and consideration, I settled on a charming tea room nestled in a quiet courtyard in Covent Garden. The charmingly rustic décor was adorned with beautiful pastel-coloured roses, creating the perfect atmosphere for an elegant, feminine, afternoon. As soon as I walked in, I could practically hear the sound of dainty china cups clinking and laughter filling the air. I took a seat, my tutu swaying as I tucked into a scrumptious spread of delectable delights.

The highlight of the afternoon tea was undoubtedly the Victoria Sponge. This is definitely my favourite teatime treat, with its perfectly moist sponge and decadent cream filling, it truly captured my heart! I'm sure even Prince Albert would have approved. And for good measure, I splurged on a small slice of the lemon meringue pie - a light, refreshing treat with cloud-like meringue - a perfect summer dessert.

Ballet by Night!

As evening fell, I eagerly anticipated the night's entertainment: a ballet performance at the world-renowned Royal Opera House! The anticipation was almost unbearable! London’s famous Covent Garden buzzed with excitement and I couldn't wait to get a glimpse of the magic.

Dressed in my favourite sparkling tutu, I strolled through Covent Garden Market, enjoying the lively atmosphere. The stalls were adorned with fresh blooms and delicious smells, which provided a beautiful backdrop for my swirling tutu.

Stepping into the hallowed halls of the Royal Opera House, I was met with an incredible spectacle! The Grand Hall, with its towering pillars, marble floors, and chandeliers that twinkled like stars, felt like a portal to another era.

As the curtains rose for the show, the story unfolded through graceful movements and expressive facial expressions. I was so completely immersed in the world of the ballet. As a dancer, there’s something magical about experiencing ballet from a different perspective.

The performance was simply breathtaking! The ballet dancers were incredible, their every movement a poem, telling a story without saying a single word. And, to top it off, the costume designers had pulled out all the stops! From flowing tulle skirts to jewel-encrusted tiaras, there was an absolute abundance of sparkle and femininity on stage. There’s no place I’d rather be than a ballet, watching these beautiful dancers work their magic on stage, all of this perfection and grace is the very thing that keeps me going on my mission to bring pink tutus to the world!

Night Out With a Touch of Glitter

After the show, the night was far from over! London's theatre district hummed with post-performance energy. It seemed as if the whole city was in the mood for celebration! I grabbed a quick bite of delicious, crispy fish and chips at one of the iconic London street food stalls while the enticing aromas of popcorn and sweets filled the air around me.

Now, my darlings, you can’t travel to London and not enjoy a night out in a West End Show. I was particularly excited about the West End Production I’d chosen. This particular show is known for its dramatic performances, incredible costumes and a truly electrifying musical score.

A night out at the theatre is a real experience! From the buzz of the crowd, the anticipation before the show, the sheer spectacle of the performance, to the buzz of post-show conversations and drinks. This is what makes London a truly special city for any culture buff.

I dressed for the theatre in a shimmering silver tutu with a statement black top that perfectly complemented the night. I think we can all agree, a splash of glitter is always a good idea for a London theatre show.

It was another fabulous night of glamour and fun. After the performance, I decided to take a wander through Piccadilly Circus. With its famous neon lights, dazzling shops and a charming mix of locals and tourists, I had a great time enjoying the lively atmosphere and taking a few photos.

And as a final treat for the night, I made a beeline to a popular pastry shop nearby, for a delicious slice of their famous chocolate mousse cake. I am quite certain, that even if this was not a special trip, I'd come back here for another taste of their amazing cake! There’s nothing quite like a perfect end to a wonderful London day!

My London Tutu-Love

I headed back to my hotel feeling absolutely delighted and energized by my adventure in London. It's funny, even after all this time, my tutu adventures always feel special and new! It's amazing how just a splash of colour and a little bit of whimsy can transform any trip into a memorable experience!

And now, for those who are thinking of adding a splash of pink tutu into their own lives - it’s the most fun thing to do! Just start with a simple tutu - maybe even a pink one. You'll be amazed by how much confidence and joy it brings into your life.

My London adventures always remind me how beautiful the world can be when we look at it through the lens of positivity, and whimsy - and with a touch of pink tutu magic!

Until next time, darlings! Remember - the world is your dance floor, so don’t be afraid to twirl!

Lots of Love and Pink Tutu hugs, Emma
