Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 1458 - A Day of Delights in the Big Smoke!

Hello my gorgeous ballet bunnies! 🩰💖 It's Friday, which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Blog London post! I'm back in my beloved city for the weekend, having journeyed down from Derbyshire by train, and already, my heart is full of excitement. As a ballerina who just adores the big smoke, London holds a special place in my heart. Today, we’re exploring some of my favourite haunts – a day full of fun, fashion, and of course, fabulous tutus!

So let me tell you all about this magical day. After all, it’s Friday, and the weekend’s here to be devoured, full of tutus, dancing and everything wonderful! As usual, I'm sporting my go-to outfit – a vibrant pink tutu, a whimsical floral print top, and a touch of sparkling jewels for good measure! It wouldn’t be Pink Tutu Blog without a touch of glitz, right?

The Journey to the Big Smoke

I boarded the train bright and early, excited as a kid on Christmas morning. The Derbyshire countryside flashed by, painting a peaceful backdrop for my daydreams about London adventures. I couldn’t help but catch a few admiring glances from fellow passengers. Turns out a pink tutu doesn't just attract attention in London – even the sleepy little towns appreciate a bit of pink magic. 😊

And what better way to pass the time on a train journey than to get lost in the pages of a good book? This week I’m indulging in ‘Pride and Prejudice,’ which always makes me think about the gorgeous fashions of that era – corsets, ballgowns, and all! Now, I’m dreaming of finding the perfect vintage tutu at a London market to wear to a future performance, ahem, I mean…a picnic in the park. ;)

A Ballet Class in Covent Garden

First stop was Covent Garden. A ballet class is always a brilliant way to start my London adventure – stretching my muscles, working on my pirouettes and feeling that magic ballet energy before the city truly awakens. After all, I’m all about staying graceful, even when exploring London! The cobbled streets echo with the gentle rhythm of my steps, leading me to my beloved dance studio.

I stepped into a haven of elegance and grace – soft wooden floors, beautiful ballet barres, and a welcoming atmosphere. Today’s class was a special one – with a guest instructor from the Royal Ballet! As I flowed through the ballet barre exercises and combinations, I soaked in every word, every gesture of expertise. Every dance class is an opportunity to learn, grow, and feel the true joy of movement!

I just love how the combination of fashion, dancing, and traveling come together. The thrill of finding the perfect outfit for class, the journey through the city streets to get there, and the feeling of pure joy when I’m moving through space, it's an experience I can never get enough of!

*A Lunch at The Ivy *

It’s always so much fun to take a little lunch break and immerse myself in the quintessential London cafe scene. This week I’m opting for a classic, elegant London spot – the famous Ivy. While it’s known for its glamorous history, and fabulous décor, I especially love the delicious food and drinks that always feel very special.

Lunch is the perfect time to take a break and relax a little, letting my mind wander. Maybe to my next performance, or what I might wear for a glamorous opening night at the Royal Opera House. Or I could simply daydream about my perfect tutu – I have a whole notebook of ideas. You can’t be a fashion-loving ballet dancer without one, darling!

A Theatrical Adventure in The West End

Of course, a Friday in London would be incomplete without a West End show! This week, I’m enjoying a real treat – the stunning "Moulin Rouge!". It's a brilliant display of theatricality and dance! The colours are bright and vivid, and the story captivating, I love that you’re carried away to the world of Moulin Rouge through the power of storytelling and the beautiful art of dance.

The performance takes place in the historical Piccadilly Theatre. And there is something just magical about watching a play, a ballet, a show in a venue that has history woven into its very fabric! There's a story in the architecture itself – like those walls have seen so many stories, so much passion, so much love of the stage, of performance, of the power of dance and entertainment! This kind of inspiration always gets those creative juices flowing for my own dance and ballet performances! And, needless to say, this glamorous performance also has given me a new love of Parisian-inspired fashion! Those sequins! Those vibrant colours! Now that’s what I call "dress up!"

Fashion Shopping Therapy in Soho

After a show, nothing quite beats a little shopping therapy! Soho was calling my name – with its vintage shops, funky boutiques, and an air of stylish whimsy. Today, I'm looking for a new pair of pink sparkly shoes, some elegant earrings, and a new silk scarf. You know how it is - a tutu enthusiast must be prepared for any and all occasions! 😊

Soho is such a vibrant district, buzzing with energy. The boutiques are always full of quirky and charming fashion finds. And of course, with a love of vintage, it’s a haven for me. Today, I even stumbled upon a stunning feather boa and some lovely velvet gloves. The feather boa I might just wear to my next performance...I mean, I could really do with a touch of more sparkle! And the gloves? Well, the perfect complement to any glamorous outfit, wouldn't you say?

A Romantic Stroll through Regent's Park

No trip to London would be complete without a leisurely stroll through one of its gorgeous parks. Regent’s Park was calling me, with its beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere. And when in London, a stroll is best accompanied by an iced coffee from a local cafe. It’s one of my favourite things – watching the world go by as I sip my coffee, a touch of the perfect pink frosting on a busy day.

And if I’m feeling fancy? Why, then it's time to head to one of the many ice cream parlours that are sprinkled like sweet jewels throughout the park. A scoop of bubblegum-pink ice cream, topped with a swirl of pink frosting and sprinkles - the perfect finale for a magical day. I may be a ballerina, but I’m a total foodie too.

*London By Night, Pink Tutu in the Night Sky! *

The city lights twinkled, a twinkling reflection in my pink tutu, and the night buzzed with life! There's an excitement, a magic in London after dark. You can really see the sparkle and glitz in every corner, in every light. I find myself dancing to the rhythm of London, swirling under the vibrant night sky – like a lone ballet dancer taking center stage, under the grand chandeliers of a magnificent opera house. The world truly seems like a stage when you have London’s neon glow shining over you, especially when wearing a sparkling pink tutu!
