Pink Tutu Blog London: #1462 – Friday Feeling in the Big Smoke! 🩰💖
Hello my darling tutu twirlers! It's Friday, and you know what that means… it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog London! I'm buzzing with excitement today, because I'm actually in London, darling! You see, I hopped on the train this morning from Derbyshire – the perfect way to start the day. I love train travel – there's something so wonderfully romantic about being whisked away on the rails to somewhere new and exciting. Especially when you can grab a coffee, settle in with a good book (or a fashion magazine… always!), and daydream about the adventures ahead.
London Calling
This weekend is a whirlwind of girly delights! The boys (yes, I do have a couple of friends who indulge my tutus and the occasional fancy dress extravaganza – although they do keep reminding me how not practical the tutu is when climbing over building sites!) are back in Derbyshire for a spot of landscaping – or should I say rock'n'roll in their lumberjack guise (not to be confused with "lumbering" 😉 )! Which leaves me to indulge in the capital city, where my love affair with the London scene continues unabated. And of course, I am totally rocking my new pink tutu!
Where Did I Stay?
This time, I’ve opted for the utterly charming "The Marylebone Hotel," where I’m staying in the "Rose Room". This has definitely set the tone for a fabulous London adventure! I mean, did you hear me? “Rose Room!” Honestly, it's the perfect combination of elegant, cosy, and super stylish. The staff are absolutely wonderful – so friendly and helpful – and I haven’t stopped swooning over the hotel’s charming English décor since I checked in. It's the perfect home away from home, and oh so tutu-tastic!
Morning Ritual
As you know, a morning well-spent is crucial when exploring London, so I started with a delightful breakfast of fresh berries, fluffy pastries and a perfectly brewed cup of tea. (Honestly, you'll be surprised how good the tea is in London - just wait until you try a cup!) I then went on to explore the nearby Marylebone Village, and found an amazing boutique where I discovered the most gorgeous silk scarf that was the perfect splash of colour to my outfit. It's a delicate peach shade, just begging to be styled with a sassy, fluffy, pink tutu (what else!?)... maybe tomorrow. And who knows, I might just inspire another fashionista on the streets with the sheer confidence that wearing a tutu evokes.
A Trip to The Theatre
The afternoon was dedicated to my first love – ballet! It was simply divine. I saw a beautiful performance at the Sadler’s Wells Theatre by the amazing London Contemporary Ballet. It was mesmerizing! Those dancers are just phenomenal - they are such graceful artists, and the movements in their performance were so captivating. They tell such beautiful stories through dance, and their outfits were utterly divine – shimmering gowns and glittering leotards – perfect inspiration for my next tutu design!
Let’s Talk Fashion
I love shopping on Regent Street – especially for shoes, and today, was no different! Let's face it, I've got an addiction to pretty ballet flats! This particular stop has a quirky little shop hidden on a side street, that’s jam packed with designer and vintage shoes. Oh darling, there were some real gems in there, but a fabulous pair of velvet-red shoes was begging me to take it home with me! (Sorry bank account…)
Cocktails and Glitter
As the sun started to set, I headed down to a bar just around the corner from my hotel - where a whole cocktail menu is made with champagne. It’s actually one of my favourite ways to celebrate the end of a great London day – a champagne cocktail in my favourite dress - yes, a pink tutu (even more sparkles!). After a delectable steak dinner, it's time for a good night's sleep and another big day of tutu-ting tomorrow!
Tips for my London Adventurers!
• The London Underground is a must-do experience. It's the best way to see all the famous sites! And while the stations are packed, you never know, you may inspire someone with your dazzling pink tutu! • Be sure to have a few delicious "afternoon tea" experiences - they’re charming! (Especially if you can get them alongside a beautiful, afternoon ballet performance - like at the English National Ballet.) • Try a real British "pub grub” - if you haven’t already! And make sure to pair it with a nice cup of tea – so typically British!
