Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to London town! As you know, I'm absolutely smitten with this fabulous city, and every Friday, I share my adventures with you on this here blog.
This week, I packed my most vibrant pink tutu, my lucky ballet shoes (I call them my 'dance magic' shoes, they're quite literally magical!) and hopped on the train from Derbyshire. I absolutely adore train travel. It's the perfect opportunity to lose myself in a good book, indulge in a pot of tea (and perhaps a slice of cake - no judgement here!) and gaze out of the window at the ever-changing countryside scenery.
And then, poof! Suddenly, I was in London! I love the hustle and bustle, the energy that vibrates through the city streets, the mix of old and new, traditional and modern… it's simply exhilarating!
Morning Delights:
London on a Friday always starts with a delightful pit stop at The Wolseley for a perfectly brewed cup of tea and a croissant, oh so flaky and buttery. It's such a beautiful spot for a morning pick-me-up – imagine Parisian cafe chic with a dash of English grandeur!
Afterwards, I popped into Liberty London, a haven for all things beautiful and whimsical. Their textile and homeware sections are to die for! Imagine this: velvet ribbons and antique lace, intricate floral patterns, and so much vibrant pink – a true dream for any tutu-loving girl.
But the real star of the show for me was their ballet collection. It's not always available but if you're lucky like me, you might find it on your visit. I fell in love with a breathtaking ballerina print silk scarf, adorned with delicate pink ballet shoes. I knew instantly I needed to add it to my collection, so I treated myself (because let’s be honest, you deserve the finer things in life, especially if you're wearing a tutu!)
Lunchtime Indulgence:
Next stop – Fortnum & Mason, London's grand department store. I love it! The iconic pink and green façade is a sight to behold. I couldn’t resist a visit to their beautiful Food Hall, with its delectable selection of cheeses, jams, biscuits, and of course, their famous “Fortnum & Mason” pink-hued champagne. Just a small bottle for myself, you understand! It’s always so chic to have a little bubbly on a Friday, isn't it?
For lunch, I decided to explore the Covent Garden area. A feast for the senses, with vibrant flowers, talented street performers, and an enchanting atmosphere! It was truly delightful!
Afternoon at the Theatre:
The highlight of my day was, of course, the ballet! Today, it was The Royal Opera House. There was just something so magical about watching world-class ballet dancers performing in this stunning venue. The exquisite costumes, the passionate music, the effortless movements… It took me right out of myself, making me feel utterly enchanted and truly inspired.
My favourite moment of the show? That was a total surprise! During the last act, a scene with ballerinas en pointe, adorned in swirling, pink tulle tutus, was truly breathtaking. It’s funny how seeing other girls dancing in their pink tutus, in such an amazing venue, always reminds me just how beautiful and powerful being a girl can be. You’ll often find me swaying to the music as I’m captivated by these amazing performances.
Post-Theatre Delight:
As the sun started to set, casting long shadows across the city, I popped into The Ivy, one of London's most fashionable restaurants, for a late-night bite and some people watching. A few oysters, a glass of white wine, and a little chat with my friends made for a perfect ending to my day.
An Evening at the Opera:
Even though it was the ballet that captivated me, London wouldn't be complete without seeing something spectacular at the opera. After dinner, I went to The Royal Albert Hall. It was one of those “if you only see one show, see this” events. As I walked into the vast, circular hall with its opulent decor, I couldn’t help but smile.
Tonight, I was mesmerized by the timeless performance of Verdi's ‘Rigoletto’. Such beauty and tragedy intertwined. There is something about live performance, the energy that is exchanged between the performers and the audience that just cannot be replicated.
Homeward Bound:
As the evening drew to a close, it was time to say goodbye to London for this week. The journey home by train was just as enchanting as the journey there, with the twinkling lights of the city gradually disappearing behind me, replaced by a canvas of stars twinkling in the inky night sky.
It’s times like these I wish I could take my favourite pink tutu and fly away too. But as they say, sometimes we have to embrace reality. And that reality is going back to the dance studio, practicing until I’m pink in the face. After all, I have more magical shows and adventures in my tutu future!
The Big Question of the Week:
So, darlings, let's talk about tutus! What's your favourite tutu colour? Is it a vibrant, bright pink like mine, or a delicate shade of rose? Do you prefer a full-bodied, fluffy tutu or a classic, streamlined one? Let me know in the comments below, I love hearing from you!
See you next Friday for another #PinkTutuBlogLondon adventure! Until then, stay stylish, stay positive, and embrace the joy of dance.
