Pink Tutu Blog London: #1465 ā London Calling! š©°
Friday, 27th September 2024
Good morning, darlings! Itās Emma here, back with another London adventure! I've traded the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the bustling streets of London, all thanks to a lovely gig at the Royal Albert Hall last night - another glorious performance under the chandelier and applause that almost lifted the roof off. Thatās the beauty of being a travelling ballerina, it takes me to the most incredible places! And speaking of incredible places, prepare for a London overload!
A Pink Tutu-ful Train Journey
As usual, I opted for the train journey up from Derbyshire. I've always been a bit of a railway enthusiast. Thereās just something romantic about the whistle of a steam engine and the clink of carriages, don't you think? Especially when you're wearing a pink tutu - it's almost like stepping into a fairy tale! š
The carriage was practically empty, so I had the whole window to myself and spent the journey browsing my latest fashion haul (from the amazing vintage boutique in Nottingham ā you HAVE to check it out if youāre in the area!) and catching up on the latest ballet news.
London Calling!
I arrived at St Pancras Station with a spring in my step ā well, a leap in my step, actually! I'm always a bit starstruck by the sheer size and energy of London. Even on a Friday morning, the atmosphere was electric, with a constant buzz of excitement.
Pink Paradise: A Shopping Spree in Covent Garden
First stop, Covent Garden. This is where I go when I need a little pink-hued fashion inspiration, you know what I mean? Iām a bit of a magpie for beautiful things! This place is bursting with the most divine little boutiques, each one more alluring than the last.
The highlight? A gorgeous pair of pink, crystal-encrusted stilettos I discovered at a little shop called āPretty Thingsā ā I simply couldn't resist their sparkle. Theyāll look sensational on stage tonight, I just know it!
A Bite to Eat ā And What a Feast it Was
I fuelled up with the most delectable salmon and cream cheese bagel from a little bakery tucked away on a side street (it had a queue outside, but trust me, it was worth the wait!). I took it down to the square and people watched - the street performers here never disappoint. A one-man band, a talented street artist, and a juggler who somehow managed to keep five oranges in the air at the same time! Pure magic!
Culture Overload at the Royal Opera House
Afternoon came, and it was time for a little bit of high-culture! My schedule was packed ā you can't be a London visitor without catching at least one show, now can you? So, I headed to the Royal Opera House for an absolutely phenomenal performance of Swan Lake! The choreography was divine, the dancers so elegant, and the musicā¦ well, it took my breath away.
Letās just say I spent a good part of the interval trying to find a cute souvenir ā I'm always looking for ways to bring the ballet back home with me. This time, it was a stunning embroidered fabric bag featuring a delicate swan design. Perfect for my little pink ballet trinkets!
A Stroll Along the Southbank
After the opera, I had to walk off all that beautiful ballet! A walk along the Southbank is my go-to for some post-show relaxation. Thereās just something about the gentle rhythm of the River Thames, the buzzing atmosphere, and the incredible view of the London Eye that makes me feel happy and calm. I spotted the most beautiful sunset reflected in the river - talk about romantic!
Dinner at a Hidden Gem
The evening called for a hearty, but healthy meal. My secret London treasure? The 'Flower Powerā cafe in South Kensington ā a beautiful vegan restaurant hidden in a quiet corner. The mushroom and lentil stew with creamy cashew sauce was the absolute best. I savoured every single mouthful. It was a delicious end to an utterly brilliant day in London!
Looking Ahead: Tonight's Ballet Gala!
But wait, thereās more! You all know I love to showcase my passion for ballet. Tonight I have a very special performance. Itās a ballet gala at the Queenās Theatre - one of Londonās most historic theatres, with gorgeous stage decor, rich history, and oh-so-elegant dressing rooms! This event is part of their āPink Tutu Weekā ā a whole week celebrating the grace, elegance and femininity of ballet. And me? Well, you guessed itā¦ Iām bringing the Pink Tutu! š
I canāt wait to get to put my own unique twist on ballet! My tutu will be sparkling, my shoes will be shining, and my performance? Well, let's just say itāll be a little bit of a Pink Tutu-tastic celebration!
Stay tuned for all the post-performance gossip tomorrow!
Until next week, darlings. Keep it pink!
xoxo, Emma
