Pink Tutu Blog London: #1469 - A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke!
Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad explorer, Emma, back from another whirlwind adventure in London. Itâs Friday, the sun is shining, and the air is crisp with a hint of autumn in the capital. What more could a girl ask for? Oh, yes, a sprinkle of magic! And wouldnât you know it, London is absolutely brimming with it.
I just knew I had to share this gorgeous Friday with all of you, so strap in and hold on tight! Today we're delving into London's vibrant tapestry of art, fashion, and, of course, more fabulous tutu moments!
Train Journey: A Pink Tutu Commute
Now, let's get one thing straight â travelling by train is absolutely an experience. This week's journey from Derbyshire, with my beloved pink tutu nestled securely in my bag, was pure joy! The scenery whizzing by, the familiar rhythm of the carriage â I always feel so invigorated by train journeys. A good playlist and my latest copy of âDance Magazineâ were the perfect companions for this delightful adventure.
I have a bit of a secret: my train journey wouldnât be complete without my very own miniature ballet bar. You just never know when youâll get the urge to stretch! Itâs an absolute lifesaver for keeping those ballet muscles warmed up. Youâd be surprised how many appreciative looks I get! Perhaps I should even create a new Pink Tutu Travel line: âKeep Dancing on the Move!â
Arrival in London: First Impressions are Everything!
As the sleek train pulled into King's Cross station, the sheer energy of London enveloped me. This city always makes me feel a little bit giddy, like I could do anything!
As I sashayed out of the station, the buzz of city life immediately made my heart sing. I just love the feeling of being surrounded by people from all walks of life â students, businesspeople, artists, and everyone in between. And yes, darling, I absolutely spotted another Pink Tutu soul (this time a young lady in a delicate baby pink tutu!), so of course, we shared a nod and a big, âHello, sister!â grin. Itâs the little moments that make my heart soar, you know?
My Fashion Mecca: Covent Garden Market
The first stop on my London agenda was Covent Garden. It's a haven for independent designers and creators, offering an explosion of unique, beautiful things. Of course, I went straight for the clothing stalls, searching for some new gems to add to my Pink Tutu wardrobe!
Thereâs nothing like finding that one special piece that whispers to your heart â I found a pair of pink velvet Mary Janes, the most perfect ballet flats I've ever seen, and an oversized pink cardigan (who says pink has to be pastel?!). The best part? The stall owner complimented my fabulous tutu. "You look like youâre ready to twirl the world!â she exclaimed. Honestly, a girl canât ask for a better welcome to the London fashion scene.
Lunch with a View: The Sky Garden
Lunch time came, and I had a delicious reservation in a stunning location: the Sky Garden, London's highest public garden. The views from the 36th floor were simply breathtaking â London sprawled out below us like a vibrant canvas. The modern glass dome filled with lush greenery felt like a magical escape from the city's busy streets.
A decadent high tea was my choice for lunch, complete with dainty sandwiches, a variety of teas, and of course, my very own pink cupcake. While enjoying my high tea, I couldnât resist twirling, because, well, a girlâs gotta keep her pirouettes practiced, even on a fancy afternoon.
Dance! Royal Opera House, Covent Garden
This afternoon's event was one I had been eagerly anticipating: âThe Nutcrackerâ at the Royal Opera House. Thereâs something magical about a ballet set against the grand backdrop of Covent Garden. Itâs an evening I dream of for weeks!
Oh, and of course, I pulled out the big guns for the evening â a classic tulle pink tutu, adorned with a delicate sprinkling of glittery stars. I even added some dainty white pearl earrings â nothing says elegant like a bit of sparkle, am I right?
The Royal Ballet didn't disappoint â the choreography was divine, the costumes magnificent, and the story brought me back to the innocence of childhood. I'm pretty sure I had a permanent grin on my face the whole time. Itâs no wonder ballet is my greatest passion. I feel so blessed to share this passion with the whole Pink Tutu community, even with just my small contribution.
Back to Derbyshire â Filled with Pink Inspiration
Back on the train, the night air seemed to hold the magic of the ballet. I sat gazing at the starry night sky, feeling completely content.
Itâs moments like this, that fill my life with a twirling joy, that I get back on that train to my home in Derbyshire, filled with new ideas, renewed inspiration, and more importantly, that special London glow.
Until next week, darlings, keep on dancing, keep on twirling, and keep wearing your tutus â whether pink, black, or even rainbow!

XOXO, Emma
