Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #1473)

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, back with another exciting Friday post. This week, I've taken the plunge and embarked on a little London adventure! I'm so excited to share all the sights, sounds, and sparkles with you lovely lot.

As usual, I left Derbyshire with my trusty travel companion – my favourite pink tutu, of course. And there's no better way to reach the big smoke than a scenic train journey. Oh, I do love a good train ride. Especially when I'm rocking my pink tutu, catching admiring glances from fellow passengers, and channeling my inner ballerina with a bit of graceful stretching in the aisle! (Don't worry, I never do it during peak hours!).

Anyway, this trip is all about celebrating London's magical blend of history, culture, and of course, its fantastic fashion scene! And what better day to dive head-first into all that loveliness than a glorious Friday?

So grab your favourite pink tutu, pour yourself a cuppa, and join me on a delightful tour of my London day!

Pink Tutu Adventures: A Fashionable Frenzy

10:30 AM: My train pulls into King's Cross Station, and the first thing that greets me is a blast of energy, vibrant colours, and, oh, the wonderful whiff of London air. You know that special London aroma - a delightful mix of cafe lattes, vintage bookshops, and something slightly smoky I can’t quite place… But it's utterly charming, that's for sure.

11:00 AM: Time for some pre-shopping ballet practice! Because every trip to London MUST start with a visit to my favourite place: Dance Attic, a haven for ballerinas just like me, right near King's Cross! It’s crammed with beautiful tutus (they even have pink ones, naturally!) gorgeous leotards, and everything a ballerina could ever desire. I have a confession to make - I always end up leaving with something. (Okay, maybe a couple of "somethings"). This week's treat? A breathtakingly beautiful emerald green tutu with hand-stitched sequined details. I'm pretty sure it will look spectacular with my silver ballet shoes - my signature look, don't you know!

12:00 PM: Feeling energised, and armed with a few new purchases, I decided to head towards Covent Garden, the heart of London’s vibrant theatre scene. Of course, my day would never be complete without a trip to one of the world-renowned dance venues - the iconic Royal Opera House.

12:30 PM: I just LOVE exploring the Royal Opera House, soaking in its grandeur. Even when there’s no performance, there’s just something truly magical about it. I spent some time gazing up at the ornate ceiling and imagining the thrilling performances it has seen throughout the decades. Plus, it makes for fabulous photo opportunities with my new emerald tutu, don’t you think?

1:00 PM: I indulged in a scrumptious, classic British lunch at a charming little café nestled just outside Covent Garden. The menu boasted the most tempting homemade soup with crusty bread (always a favourite!), followed by a creamy fruit crumble with custard. What better way to fuel myself for more shopping, sightseeing, and of course, some fabulous ballet-related delights!

2:00 PM: Now, who says ballet can't be adventurous? Today, I took my tutu on an exhilarating exploration of London’s famous street art scene! The Shoreditch area is a haven of vibrant street art and graffiti. It’s such a contrast to the classic elegance of the Opera House, and I love the way those two worlds collide! A quick snap with my favourite pink tutu in front of some colourful murals was a must for Instagram, of course!

3:30 PM: Time for some luxurious retail therapy at Liberty London, a department store with a truly unique personality. It’s the kind of place where every corner is a photographic masterpiece! Think swirling staircases, stunning Victorian architecture, and endless rows of delightful and whimsical fashion treasures. I did get myself a rather gorgeous pink silk scarf - oh, it’s perfect for evening ballet performances, it is.

4:30 PM: A bit of London shopping definitely gets the appetite going, so it was time for afternoon tea! Now, who doesn’t adore afternoon tea, especially with a fancy, frothy drink and the cutest little finger sandwiches and pastries? This time, I headed for Fortnum & Mason, the most delightful tea room I’ve ever been in. Imagine high ceilings, beautiful crystal chandeliers, and a delectable selection of cakes, scones, and finger sandwiches! Plus, their selection of tea blends are absolutely heavenly, especially their fragrant floral Earl Grey - yum!

6:00 PM: No trip to London is complete without experiencing the magic of a West End show! And today, I treated myself to an unforgettable evening at the beautiful Apollo Theatre! Tonight’s treat? The dazzling, Broadway hit musical "Chicago" which absolutely blew me away. That incredible ensemble dance number with the show girls… Oh my! And it inspired me to do a little improvisational twirling myself in the street afterwards – I'm not sure the locals knew quite what to make of it! (It was so much fun though!).

9:30 PM: With a happy, slightly dizzying, feeling after such a thrilling show, I decided to treat myself to some yummy London fare in the heart of Covent Garden. I tucked into a delicious plate of spaghetti carbonara, followed by a scoop of velvety smooth tiramisu - the perfect way to round off a wonderful day!

10:30 PM: A leisurely train ride home (where, of course, I ended up having a conversation with another tutu-loving lady! Turns out, we had the same teacher when we were younger… The tutu world really is so small, isn’t it?), was the perfect end to a day that was brimming with colour, inspiration, and, naturally, the most magnificent pink tutus!

Fashion Tip for this Week:

Don’t forget, darlings, pink isn't just for ballerinas anymore! Pink is becoming a colour for the confident and fabulous woman, regardless of her age, shape, or size! Pink isn’t just a colour, it’s an attitude, and the possibilities are truly endless. So go out there, twirl with confidence, and rock that pink tutu, my lovelies. And remember, the more pink, the better!

Travel Essentials for my Pink Tutu:

  • Pink, sequinned tutu (obvs!)
  • Elegant ballerina flat shoes with sparkles!
  • A fluffy pink tote bag big enough for my essentials: (phone, wallet, water bottle, compact mirror, lipstick…)
  • Pink ballet slippers with the extra soft soles.
  • Comfortable white sneakers for some fun, spontaneous dancing around the city!

Until Next Week:

My dears, I hope you enjoyed following me around my London escapade! And don’t forget to join me again next week for a fresh batch of pink tutu adventures. It might be a trip to the enchanting countryside of England - think castles and fairytale woodlands - but you can be sure I'll be bringing that extra touch of pink tutu magic. See you next week, my beautiful bunch!

Yours truly,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
