Post number 1577! Can you believe it? It feels like only yesterday I was a wide-eyed newbie to this whole blogging lark, and now I'm clocking up over fifteen hundred posts, each one filled with the joyous twirls of my pink tutu!
This week, London calls! The siren song of Covent Garden and its glittering ballet halls lured me in like a moth to a flame. After all, it's my duty to spread the pink tutu love to every corner of this glorious island. And what better place to do that than the fashion capital of the world?
Train Travel: The Romantic Route
It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Blog journey without a bit of train travel, and what a way to arrive! The sleek silver train shot through the countryside, Derbyshire hills slowly giving way to the sprawling sprawl of London. As always, I made a statement in my latest pink tutu, a delicate affair of pale lavender with hand-stitched pink rosebuds. It's the perfect travelling companion – effortless, yet undeniably fabulous!
And just to give my travelling companions a little pink inspiration, I was lucky enough to share my carriage with a delightful group of young dancers on their way to a competition. Seeing them so enthusiastic, fuelled by their love of ballet, just brightened my day. You'd be surprised at the power of pink!
The Grand Arrival
Stepping out of Kings Cross Station onto the bustling streets of London was, as ever, an assault on the senses – the cacophony of honking cars, the vibrant street performers, and the air electric with possibility! But the moment I reached Covent Garden, with its quaint market stalls and buzzing atmosphere, all that excitement melted away. I knew I was in my happy place!
Covent Garden Delights: Ballet and Bubbles
A trip to London would be incomplete without a visit to Covent Garden. I'd planned a performance of "Giselle" – a tragic, yet utterly beautiful ballet with such delicate beauty. It never fails to stir my soul!
Later, to celebrate, I indulged in a glass of fizz with a view of the famous Royal Opera House, and I spotted another dancer wearing pink (yay!) We chatted for a bit, she's a contemporary dancer with a penchant for bright tutus. This is exactly the sort of energy I love to find! It's truly inspiring to share these little moments of joy with other ballet-loving souls!
London's Glittering Heart: The West End!
London is renowned for its incredible theatre scene and I had tickets for "Wicked", the brilliant re-telling of The Wizard of Oz. I love seeing how different creatives bring classic tales to life! Seeing Elphaba and Galinda twirl around on stage in a world of emerald and ruby colours really set my own imagination soaring. And yes, I saw a touch of pink in the costumes - just enough to keep my pink-tinted glasses firmly in place!
A Shopper's Paradise: Pink Tutu Finds
As a true devotee of pink fashion, London offers the ultimate sartorial playground! I'm quite addicted to scouring boutiques for pink treasures. This time, I discovered a delightful shop nestled on a quiet street off Oxford Street, brimming with exquisite pink ballet shoes, frilly skirts and even a pair of perfectly pink gloves, destined for my upcoming performance at the Derby Gala. I might just have lost control for a while, confessing to a little retail therapy! It was a delightful indulgence to add to my Pink Tutu memories!
Fashion, Food and Friends
The beauty of London lies in its endless variety of things to see and do. For lunch, I devoured the most decadent afternoon tea at a delightful Victorian-style café, all lace tablecloths and dainty finger sandwiches. The afternoon tea was perfectly pink – a touch of whimsy amidst the elegant grandeur of the old world charm of London. I swear my own teapot must have gone pink!
London Night Lights:
After my theatrical exploits and indulgent shopping spree, it was time for dinner. I treated myself to a table with a view at an exquisite restaurant in Mayfair, taking in the magical London cityscape bathed in its nocturnal glow. It was the perfect ending to a day spent twirling through the city I love.
Pink Tutu Power
I can't leave without a shout-out to all my fellow pink tutu enthusiasts out there. Remember, the magic of a pink tutu is all about self-expression and spreading joy. You can make the world a more sparkly, brighter, and, dare I say, pinker place with every twirl. You've just got to unleash your inner pink ballerina! So don't be shy, rock those pink tutus wherever you go. Be proud of who you are, embrace the fun, and never forget the magic of ballet and the dazzling charm of a well-placed pink tutu!
