Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, back from Derbyshire with my trusty pink tutu in tow, ready to bring a splash of colour and twirls to London town!
You know me – I love a good train journey. There’s something about the rhythmic clackety-clack of the wheels on the track, and the feeling of anticipation as I draw closer to my destination. The smell of freshly baked bread at the station café – pure joy! Plus, a train is the perfect opportunity to whip out my latest knitting project, my new ballet-inspired cardigan, and admire the countryside scenery zipping by. Don't even get me started on the joy of spotting a flock of sheep munching on a green meadow – simply breathtaking.
Anyway, enough about trains! This week, London's calling! I’ve been dancing and performing non-stop, earning those hard-earned pounds for a fabulous weekend in the big city. As always, my itinerary is packed with balletic brilliance and fashion finds - and a fair bit of twirling, naturally.
First stop - Ballet Street
This Friday morning started bright and early with a dose of ballet-inspired energy. My fellow dancers and I are rehearsing for an upcoming performance – we’re bringing “The Nutcracker” to life for the little ones at a local school. I must say, I’m already feeling the Christmas cheer with the delicate snowflake costumes and swirling choreography! It's moments like these that really fuel my passion for ballet – seeing the wonder and excitement on children’s faces as they’re introduced to this magical world. It's why I aim to spread that joy even further, through my little corner of the internet – and maybe even get everyone in a pink tutu! ?
Time for Tea & a Fashion Fix
After rehearsals, my bestie, Charlotte (she’s an aspiring fashion designer, oh so fabulously chic!), and I decided to treat ourselves to a quintessentially English experience. Tea and cakes at Harrods. Now, Harrods isn’t your average tea room – it’s like stepping into a palace of delightful, colourful excess. The air was thick with the aroma of freshly baked goodies, and we were treated to a magnificent display of tiered platters overflowing with macarons, scones and finger sandwiches – all served on impossibly beautiful porcelain. And while we devoured our delicacies, I couldn’t resist a browse through the designer boutiques. I spotted the most darling pair of ballerina flats in the palest shade of blush, adorned with shimmering sequins, and immediately had to add them to my ever-growing collection.
Under the Theatrical Lights
This evening, the magic of theatre beckons! Tonight’s treat – “Cats”! The West End is such a buzz, everyone seems to have a bit more sparkle in their eyes, even the grumpy buskers. The iconic theatre stands proud on the bustling street, inviting me to step inside and lose myself in another world.
"Cats" was phenomenal – all the captivating dancing, the breathtaking costumes, and the mesmerizing music transported me right into the story. After the final curtain call, my head was swirling with feline fantasies. This show truly brought together every element that I love: dance, drama, music, and a dash of spectacle. Oh, and a certain theatrical air of purr-fection, of course!
Ending the day with a London Ballet Showcase
My night is far from over! Later, I'll be heading to see an enthralling London Ballet Showcase – a dazzling selection of professional and up-and-coming dancers, a wonderful way to support the arts. I have a feeling I'm going to be absolutely wowed!
As my day comes to a close, the excitement of all these vibrant experiences settles in. I love this city’s constant movement, it’s energy that seems to pulsate from the cobbled streets. There’s a real sense of being a part of something big, of shared artistic experiences that make life so much brighter.
Pinks, Tutus & City Lights
I may be based in Derbyshire, but my heart always skips a beat when I find myself in the dazzling heart of London. The city's unique spirit fuels my own passion for performing, creating and spreading the love for all things dance, fashion, and of course, my favorite shade of pink.
What’s more – I'm excited to share some of London's gems with you, so make sure to check back next week! We’ll explore the world of vintage finds, explore more beautiful hidden squares, and perhaps even find a perfect spot for a picnic in the sunshine.
Until next Friday, remember, be brave, wear a pink tutu, and live life to the fullest!
Love, Emma xx
