Hello my darling readers! It's Emma here, back from my whirlwind trip to London. I know, I know, it's been ages since I've updated the blog, but honestly, this week has been totally manic! I mean, it's London, isn't it? So much going on, so much to see, and let's be honest, so many fabulous outfits to be worn!
Before I jump into the details, a quick shout out to the glorious railway line that got me to London - who else loves train journeys? There's something so magical about watching the world go by, with a good book, a cuppa, and of course, a pink tutu. I adore being on the move. It really does get the creative juices flowing, and the train has become my happy place. Especially as I know it's usually just the start of a fantastic adventure!
And this trip to London certainly was. You see, as I've mentioned before, I fund my little travelling ballet adventures through performing. I've got a fantastic bunch of fellow ballet dancers who join me on stage. This week's performance was "Sleeping Beauty" – oh my goodness, I loved it! All the glitz and glamour, the fairytale, the music - it's such a magical experience.
Speaking of magic, we all know that London is one of the most magical cities on earth! From the grand old buildings to the hidden gems tucked down tiny streets, the bustling energy of London is simply intoxicating. Plus, London has such a unique personality, you just can't help but be swept up in the fun!
So, what was my Friday all about? Well, let me tell you, it was a pink tutu whirlwind!
Morning:
Firstly, I had to absolutely find my favourite spot for a traditional London breakfast. I found this charming little cafe called "The Little Pink Teacup" – what a coincidence, right? - and oh my gosh, their hotcakes with strawberries and maple syrup were heavenly! Let's just say I had to grab an extra pancake for the road. It's always best to have something sweet in your handbag just in case. (You never know when you might be in need of a sugary treat.)
Afterwards, a quick stroll to Regent Street. Honestly, London really knows how to do shopping, don't they? I had my eye on a few new tutus. But sadly, I couldn’t resist that exquisite vintage floral handbag – it was just calling out to me! I even picked up a darling little pink handbag charm – a tiny pair of ballerina slippers - just for this blog! You know, for the #PinkTutuBlog readers, because let's be honest, everything is always better in pink.
Afternoon:
Next, I was ready to embrace some London culture. As luck would have it, I saw a street performance by a fabulous group called "The Ballerinas of London." Seriously, they were brilliant! Think hip-hop meets ballet, with some truly mind-blowing moves. This truly felt like my kind of dance performance, it's such an original blend of styles.
Evening:
Then, it was time for something a bit more formal – a show at the Royal Opera House. We're talking world-renowned ballet! We saw a beautiful interpretation of Swan Lake, and the dancing was simply stunning. Totally in awe of all those ballerinas! Afterward, we grabbed a lovely, light dinner at a cute bistro – it was actually near my hotel.
Oh, and if you’re ever in London on a Friday evening, I’d definitely recommend a stroll across Westminster Bridge – it’s an absolute dream! All those gorgeous buildings are so incredibly beautiful when illuminated by night! I just took it all in, feeling totally inspired. The city was abuzz with activity, and the lights twinkling – it’s simply magical!
Back to Derbyshire:
Of course, no London trip is complete without some fantastic memories! This time, it was the delicious homemade Victoria sponge from the tea shop near Covent Garden – they use homemade jam, which is super special. I was determined to savour every single crumb! Plus, the street performers in the area were such fantastic fun – and even though it’s not directly in London, the train journey home was quite blissful, all thanks to the fabulous music they have playing onboard!
