Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #1597)

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad adventurer, Emma, here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to the vibrant capital! London, you know, is just bursting with a delicious energy – a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and a palpable thrum of life. And who better to experience it all than a tutu-wearing ballerina with a love for all things fabulous?

Derbyshire to London in Style

This week, my train journey was a perfect prelude to my London escapades. My new blush pink cardigan was a total dream with my tulle skirt – a perfect ensemble for travelling in style! The rhythmic clatter of the train against the rails, a rhythmic echo to the pirouettes I practice, always has me dreaming up grand ballets, choreographed against the backdrop of passing fields and towns. The thrill of arrival is always electrifying. And as I stepped onto the platform, I just knew London was going to embrace me with open arms.

London – A Day in the Life of a Tutu-Loving Ballerina

Friday began with a scone and clotted cream at the cutest little tea room in Notting Hill, with pastel blue walls, vintage china cups, and a display case of dainty pastries that had me swooning. Oh, the joys of indulging in those perfect scones! The warm cream melting into the sweet pastry, such a quintessential English treat. And to add to the charm, the tea room had a record player humming along with jazz music - such a sophisticated and romantic atmosphere!

Feeling refreshed and full of tea-fueled energy, I took the Underground to the National Portrait Gallery. I am in awe of the portraits of historical figures, but the collection of contemporary photography also stole my heart! So inspiring, showcasing the creative power of visual art in all its forms. Afterwards, a stroll through Trafalgar Square, where the grandeur of Nelson’s Column, flanked by the National Gallery, filled me with wonder. The pigeons were very, very cheeky – they really did think they owned the square!

Ballet & Broadway – A Magical Evening

Later in the day, I had tickets for 'The Mousetrap', the longest-running play in the world. Such a classic, a delicious suspenseful drama - just the kind of thing that makes me fall head over heels for theatre!

After the show, my friend Jess and I joined the bustle of the West End, grabbing some cocktails before heading to a private ballet rehearsal. Seeing professional ballerinas perform was simply captivating. Their passion for the dance, their movements with such strength and grace, truly moved me. It’s such a beautiful art form – like the ballet has always been, so graceful and eloquent. It always makes me think of pink tulle, obviously, because well, it’s the ultimate ballerinas’ fabric.

Pink Tutu Fashion Find!

The weekend, however, brought my absolute favourite kind of indulgence – a shopping spree at Harrods! I know, I can hear the angels sing! And this time, it didn’t disappoint! You won’t believe what I found - a beautiful vintage pink tulle skirt, almost an antique, just the type of pink I adore – delicate blush pink! The skirt is going to look absolutely amazing on my upcoming performances and, of course, the photos for my website. It's all about celebrating pink, ladies, remember?!

Pink Tutu Mission

On Saturday, my mission to spread the joy of tutus went into overdrive! Armed with my new vintage find, I made my way to London's Regent's Park, where the London Flower Show is held each year. This vibrant and fragrant showcase of nature’s beauty truly is an artistic spectacle – the colourful displays and enchanting aromas are intoxicating! It was there that I met the lovely Anna – a young ballerina from Croydon. Anna’s heart truly lights up for dancing, she was so bubbly, her infectious smile was truly heartwarming. We bonded over our love for ballet, tutus, and fashion – another sister in tulle! I even convinced Anna to embrace her inner pink tutu princess! It’s so heartwarming, seeing the tutu mission spreading beyond Derbyshire.

Pink Tutu Take Away

So, my London escapade is ending. As I pack my suitcase, the soft blush pink of my new skirt seems to perfectly embody the delicate romance of the city. London’s grandeur and heartwarming spirit reminded me that everywhere you go, it's important to bring a touch of yourself, and a sprinkle of pink, wherever you roam. Remember to wear that fabulous tutu with confidence! Because when you wear a pink tutu, you tell the world: "Here I am. I'm here to be myself, to dance through life with a joyful spirit, and to celebrate the beauty of it all, just like the gorgeous city of London!”

Don’t forget, join me again next Friday for another tutu-tastic blog post! Stay fabulous, my dear friends! XOXO Emma
