Pink Tutu Milan: Ciao Bella! Post #5 - 12th July, 1995

Buongiorno, darlings!

It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind adventure in Milan! I can't believe it's already Wednesday - time flies when you're having a fabulous time in the city of fashion! This is post number 5 from my Milan journal, and I must say, this city just gets better with each passing day.

Today's blog is extra special because, darling, I got to see a Ballet show! A proper, professional, dazzling show that had me completely spellbound! But first, let's back up a bit…

The Journey to Milan - A Ride in Style

This week, my adventures started bright and early on a Tuesday morning, with a quick train ride down to the charming town of Trent. My pink tutu made quite the splash on the platform, you know? All the locals stopped to admire its fluffy, beautiful glory! Then, after a cheeky cappuccino and a delicious brioche from the train station cafe, I hopped on a train that took me to this wonderful city.

Milan is just oozing charm and elegance, like a giant fashionista dripping in couture. I arrived just as the sun was sinking down, painting the city sky with gorgeous streaks of fiery orange and dusky purple. My first impression? I'm in love!

My Milan Pad

I've booked myself a tiny but oh-so-perfectly charming flat near the bustling Navigli area, where the canals sparkle in the evening sunlight. It's got exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and the most exquisite little balcony, perfect for enjoying a glass of Italian wine as the stars come out.

Now, before I start gushing about the most amazing ballet show, let me give you a glimpse into my last few days!

My Milan Love Affair: Shopping, Street Performances, and More!

As soon as I got settled in, I set off on a little adventure, exploring the city by foot. The first thing that struck me was the fashion! Milan truly is a fashion paradise, darling. Just walking down the street feels like a fashion show - elegant ladies with impossibly long legs strutting about in fabulous attire, each piece meticulously chosen, with not a hair out of place!

Now, my absolute favourite part of Milan (aside from the ballet, of course) is the incredible street performers. I had the best time strolling along the Corso Buenos Aires, stopping to watch a charming accordion player and some fantastic buskers. I even had a go at some impromptu salsa dancing with a street performer. I'm not a natural, but hey, that's half the fun, isn't it?

Lunch Time Delights!

One of my top tips for any visit to Milan is to indulge in the delectable Italian cuisine. I stumbled upon the most charming little trattoria, hidden away on a side street, with a beautiful floral archway that led into the cutest garden courtyard. There, I had a truly delicious pasta al pesto. It was divine, a taste of true Italian heaven. You see, my love for pink tutus is matched only by my love for Italian pasta.

An Afternoon Tea Treat!

I'm sure you’ll be pleased to hear that I'm never too far from a good cuppa! My first afternoon in Milan was spent at a truly gorgeous tea room called “Il Giardino delle Rose” (The Rose Garden). It’s an elegant haven, surrounded by beautiful roses, with wicker chairs and soft cushions for sitting. They serve an incredible assortment of delicate finger sandwiches, mouth-watering cakes and of course, perfect tea.

It's the perfect way to spend a few hours before heading off for an exciting evening!

The Magic of Ballet: Teatro alla Scala!

Okay, so I've been saving the best for last!

You won't believe what happened on Wednesday! I was lucky enough to score a last-minute ticket to a ballet performance at the Teatro alla Scala. I mean, can you believe it, darlings?! It's a world-renowned opera house, the heart of Italian musical history.

I was bursting with excitement, especially since I found a perfectly fitting pink tutu for the occasion. You have no idea how proud I felt in that majestic pink beauty! I even caught the attention of a charming Italian gentleman while riding the tram in my tutu on the way to the theater! (A gentleman, with whom I must say, I’m already planning to take another exciting ride on the tram!).

As the performance began, I felt a surge of exhilaration that went beyond the beauty of the dancing. This wasn’t just ballet, darling, it was art, it was passion, it was life in its most captivating form. I lost myself completely, enchanted by the intricate movements, the powerful leaps, and the heart-wrenching emotions expressed through each delicate pirouette and graceful gesture.

It’s impossible to describe the feeling - a surge of energy, beauty and sheer happiness that you’ve just got to experience for yourself. It’s what keeps me coming back to the theatre, again and again!

What I'm wearing…

Well, you already know my trusty pink tutu, which I can't imagine ever parting with. It adds a splash of vibrant color to every adventure I have. For the ballet, darling, I paired it with a luxurious black velvet top. A touch of glamorous, yet comfy. A few sparkling pink earrings added that perfect hint of twinkle!

Coming up next week:

Next week, darling, I'm heading on a shopping spree! You see, Milan is the city for every fashion enthusiast, and you know I’m here to get the inside scoop! From couture designers to high street steals, I’m ready to find the most stunning pieces that will be perfect for my collection back home!

And of course, we'll have even more adventures to share on my Milan blog - more captivating performances, perhaps another tram ride (or two) and even more delicious treats! So stay tuned, my lovely readers. I've got so much to share!

I'm already planning a week full of exciting events in Milan and can't wait to see what the next seven days will bring. Ciao for now!
