Pink Tutu Milan: Ciao Bella, Milan! #6

Wednesday, 19th July, 1995

Buongiorno, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, back from the fashion capital of the world, Milano, with another scoop from my whirlwind tour of Italy!

This week, Milan has been absolutely electric with the arrival of haute couture and the summer heat. My darling, I haven't felt this much excitement since the first time I slipped into a real tutu – which, of course, was a brilliant pink!

But first, let's talk trams! My week has been punctuated by these stylish and practical conveyances. Whizzing through the streets of Milan on a tram feels so deliciously romantic! Just picture it: the clatter of wheels, the whiff of warm, summery air, the sun-drenched buildings, and the colourful cacophony of life buzzing by. It’s truly an enchanting experience!

Ballet, Beauty, and Bellezza!

Of course, what’s a visit to Milan without immersing yourself in the world of ballet? My heart danced when I stumbled upon the Teatro alla Scala, Milan’s famous opera house, adorned with majestic architecture that made me feel like I’d stepped into a grand fairy tale!

On Wednesday evening, I treated myself to a show by the Teatro alla Scala Ballet. You wouldn't believe the costumes – absolute masterpieces! One ballerina even wore a tutu with an exquisitely beaded pattern! I gasped with admiration. I thought of my own pink tutu, how proud it must be to be so closely linked to a passion as great as ballet.

This weekend, La Scala is presenting Giselle, a classic romantic ballet, that has me bursting with anticipation! The tale of the heartbroken woodland nymph Giselle, whose tragic love story leaves a bittersweet trail, is something I just HAVE to see!

Shopping: Where Dreams Come True (And Where Pink Reigns!)

It’s a good thing I'm in Milan for the shopping, wouldn't you say, lovelies? The window displays of Via Montenapoleone have me swooning. Oh my, darling! These designer creations, with their dazzling textures, cuts, and colours, leave my eyes absolutely dazzled.

As if I haven’t told you before, I have a passion for the colour pink. So, of course, the boutiques were awash with an array of the most delectable shades. My dear, you wouldn't believe the pink creations I’ve seen - silk dresses in the most glorious blush hues, whimsical accessories trimmed in delicate pink, even shoes in the most delightful shade of rose! It's almost overwhelming for this girly girl!

Milan: A Cultural Cocktail

The sights and sounds of Milan, darling, they just fill you up with that sense of vibrancy and history. We spent a day at the Castello Sforzesco, a sprawling medieval castle that once held the grandeur of the Sforza family, and even more recently played host to the powerful Duke of Milan.

On Friday, I am going to treat myself to a spot of Italian fashion with an afternoon at the Prada Foundation. This must-visit art gallery features architectural excellence and bold artistic displays, making it a truly modern cultural landmark. The whole concept sounds utterly captivating, like stepping into a dazzlingly curated dream!

Oh, My Darling…It’s Milan!

Let me tell you, darling, you don’t need to spend a fortune on high fashion to experience the vibrant essence of Milan. Just strolling through the cobblestone streets and absorbing the ambiance of its iconic cafes – like a good cuppa, this place is pure comfort and inspiration.

Next week, darlings, I’ll be catching a show in The City of Bridges – Venice!

Don’t forget, I’m Emma, your fellow ballet lover, always encouraging you to be your most fabulous selves. Don’t be afraid to put on that pink tutu and twirl with abandon. If you need me, I’ll be back in Milan for La Scala - I've booked a prime ticket to Giselle.

Catch you soon, darlings!

Your ever-so-pink tutu enthusiast,

Emma
