Pink Tutu Milan #76: Ciao Bella, From The Fashion Capital!

Wednesday, 19th November, 1996

Buongiorno, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger Emma here, back from another thrilling week in the glorious fashion capital of Milan! I must tell you, darling, this week has been absolutely pinkalicious.

It started with a delightful tram ride, which, in my humble opinion, is the most elegant form of travel - so much more fun than boring old buses! (Unless they're vintage, of course! A good old double decker is simply darling). As usual, my pink tutu was the star of the show on the tram, receiving all the approving glances from fellow passengers. Honestly, Milan seems to love a bit of pink - I spotted some divine pink macarons at the local boulangerie. Can you even imagine? It's simply the most fabulous combination of things in life - pink and pastries!

Speaking of fabulosity, the reason I'm in Milan, you see, is to watch some world-class ballet! Honestly, the artistry, the passion, the precision, the stunning costumes... It makes my heart sing, and, my dears, there is no better feeling! I managed to catch a performance of “Swan Lake” on Tuesday evening at Teatro alla Scala, and I’m just blown away by how utterly breathtaking the entire experience was.

But I didn't stop there! I actually also got the chance to sneak a peak into the ballet studio! Oh my goodness, darling! So much dedication! Those ballerinas just exude grace and elegance. They work so hard and with such precision! I honestly don’t know how they make it look so easy!

And, my dear reader, of course, I can't forget about the most delightful aspect of Milan - the shopping! You can simply lose yourself in this city with so many elegant boutiques full of divine outfits. Just yesterday, I discovered the most darling vintage shop where I found a beautiful silk scarf with a floral print and a touch of pink, of course.

Now, let’s talk about today's schedule! Oh, you know me so well. Lunch at the local café, where the pasta is always so perfect, then more shopping, of course, with a bit of street dancing thrown into the mix, darling! And to round off the day, I'm going to a fabulous performance at Teatro Dal Verme - it’s a “La Traviata” performance this time!

It really feels like a dream being in Milan! So many fabulous dancers, stunning performances, and just endless style inspiration everywhere you look. Milan is truly the epitome of elegance - just like the pink tutu, darling! I’m still aiming for my one and only dream – to make wearing a pink tutu fashionable again. This week’s been a wonderful reminder of what inspires me, and why.

But now I need to go – I want to find the perfect pair of shoes to match my new silk scarf! It's all part of the pink tutu lifestyle, my darling.

So, until next week’s post, my dears! Be sure to follow my pink-tutu adventures on www.pink-tutu.com. Don't forget to leave a comment and tell me about your adventures! And don’t be afraid to flaunt your fabulous pink tutu for all to see!

Ciao, bellissima!

Your pink tutu blogger, Emma xXx

And now for a special extra on today's post – because Milan just isn’t Milan without a little fashion, let’s take a glimpse into today's stylish highlights!

“Ciao, bellissima!”

For my Teatro alla Scala debut, I knew I needed to pull out all the stops, darling! I opted for a sleek black velvet jumpsuit with a hint of pink around the waist! A tulle tutunaturally - cascaded from the hip and shimmered beneath the warm Italian light. It wouldn't be me without a pink statement headband for that little touch of sparkle! I felt a bit like a modern-day ballerina, full of grace and sparkle - perfect for a night at the opera!

Key Points:

  • The black jumpsuit creates a striking yet graceful silhouette, the velvet adding a touch of sophistication
  • The pink details are subtle, yet effective – it’s a delicate, almost understated touch of colour, which works wonders!
  • The tutu adds a playful yet sophisticated layer of texture, reflecting a delicate touch, perfect for the evening
  • It’s an elegant statement of pink, but not overdone, which keeps things chic and tasteful - that’s so Milan, you see.

Look 2:

“Tram time!”

Oh, darlings, a casual Milanese outfit is always a joy to create, but today, the inspiration is simple and chic! I absolutely adore a classic white T-shirt – it just has this timeless elegance! And it provides the perfect base to wear my pink tutu without looking too fancy – just effortless grace. I threw on some dark denim jeans (they have an absolutely gorgeous tailored look, thanks to Milan’s incredible array of stores), a classic pair of red loafers for a touch of sophistication and a simple beige trench coat, ideal for those slightly colder Italian autumn mornings! I topped it all off with a classic, simple gold pendant (vintage, naturally – because, oh, how I love finding a treasure from the past!) to keep things elegant!

Key Points:

  • Simplicity is key: The outfit is built upon easy pieces, the focus is on texture and simple lines, no overly elaborate details
  • Comfort is not out of style: Even with an extravagant outfit, the foundation is about ease and effortless elegance – which really reflects the spirit of this amazing city!
  • Focus on details: The loafers and the gold pendant, both elegant, timeless and easy-to-match, add the perfect touch to keep this casual look stylish

Look 3:

“Shopping Chic!”

Ok, darlings, you know what this look is all about! I love spending hours searching the many boutiques and finding vintage gems, so my outfit has to be practical and stylish! That’s why I absolutely adore the power of a simple, chic, vintage coat, paired with a floral print, long, silky dress and of course, a delicate, pink tutu, just slightly peaking out beneath the dress! It adds that little touch of extra sparkle! My trusty knee-high black boots are my perfect partners in crime when I’m on a hunt for the latest treasures, giving me just enough comfort for a long shopping spree! It all comes together for that elegant yet comfy shopping look that makes you want to spend hours searching for the perfect vintage find!

Key Points:

  • Effortless vintage glamour: A beautiful blend of vintage details like the dress and coat with the modern twist of the pink tutu!
  • Mix of prints and colours: The floral print works flawlessly with the bold black boots and a splash of pink.
  • Practicality is still a part of style: Knee-high boots and the coat provide practicality for an adventure-packed day, yet they don’t lose the glam!

Oh, darling, it is so exciting to share this fashion experience with you! I love playing around with different looks, and this beautiful city is the perfect stage for my pink tutu fashion adventure!

Let me know in the comments, darlings - what’s your favourite style from today’s diary? Don't be afraid to share your fashion picks for a casual day out or a glamorous evening in Milan - I just love reading all your thoughts!

Ciao for now! Emma
