Pink Tutu Milan: Post #82 - A Whirlwind Week in Milan

Ciao, darling!

Welcome back to another edition of Pink Tutu Milan! I’m writing to you from the heart of Milan, Italy, and oh my, what a whirlwind week it’s been. You know, sometimes I think that the energy of Milan could power a small city… it’s electric, fast paced, and so unbelievably stylish!

Taking a Leaf from Milan’s Style Book

I've been dipping my toes into Milan’s fashion scene. Let's just say, I’m seriously in awe of the artistry and sophistication here. They just ooze that effortless chic, don't they? You can spot style icons on every corner, whether it’s a businessman with a perfectly-tailored suit or a chic Milanese woman gliding around in a stunning outfit that seems like it was made just for her. Honestly, you can’t help but feel a little inspired, can you?

Of course, I can't resist taking a little inspiration from my surroundings, and what better place to get creative with my look than the city of fashion itself? I’ve been having a real blast in Milan, exploring the chic shops and finding some truly special pieces to add to my wardrobe. A blush pink scarf that's delicate as a feather? Check. A sparkly, shimmering silver clutch that could make any girl feel like a princess? Double check!

And, of course, no trip to Milan is complete without a new pink tutu. It’s hard to resist with so many boutiques featuring those exquisite silk fabrics and flowing skirts. I just can't help but twirl around!

A Ballet Dream in the City of Dreams

I must say, Milan is a bit of a dancer's paradise! The other day I took a class at the Teatro alla Scala, the famed opera house and ballet venue. Imagine, being surrounded by so much history and beauty as you learn your plies and tendus! The energy in that studio was electric!

Later that night, I treated myself to a beautiful performance of “The Nutcracker.” It was simply breathtaking! The artistry, the costumes, the music - it was like magic! The story of Clara and her journey through the Land of Sweets always warms my heart, and this production made it even more special. I had such a brilliant time watching these talented dancers, the precision of their moves just blew me away! It made me think about all the other dancers, especially in my hometown of Derbyshire, England, working hard in studios and putting their heart into ballet. It reminds me of why I started this pink tutu journey, it's to encourage and celebrate dance in all its forms, and of course, in my own way to celebrate the pink tutu.

Milan, My Favourite City?

You know, Milan is quickly becoming one of my favourite cities. It's like a fairytale, with a vibrant heart, beautiful architecture, a passionate art scene, and incredible shops filled with beautiful treasures. It truly has it all, from the grandeur of the Duomo, the most stunning Gothic cathedral, to the vibrant street markets where you can haggle for the best deals on locally crafted goods. There’s always a new adventure around the corner in this magical city.

Discovering the Joy of Tram Travels

I’ve been indulging in one of my favourite pastimes this week - taking long tram journeys. The tram ride is the perfect way to take in the city at a leisurely pace. It’s almost like a ballet routine in itself, the constant rhythmic movement, the glimpses of everyday life, the quiet moments to ponder… Milan’s tram network is an absolute delight! They’re always bright, modern and super efficient.

On my way back to my flat, I overheard a local artist discussing her new show with her friend on the tram, and I found myself thinking about the energy and artistry of Milan and all it has to offer. And as the tram journey ends and I get ready for another evening in Milan, it always gets me thinking… what other adventures could this amazing city bring me? What will tomorrow have in store?

Stay tuned, darlings! The pink tutu will be whirling right along with the exciting city of Milan.

Lots of love, Emma

P.S Don't forget, new posts on Monday at 7 pm! I can't wait to share more of my adventures in pink tutus and, hopefully, inspire you all to rock your own pink tutu with confidence!

(Editor's Note: On this day in history, January 1st, 1997, it was New Year's Day and it was believed by many that this would be a "year of progress." It was also the first anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and it is important to reflect upon her selfless devotion to service to others in 2023, with the suffering of so many.)
