Pink Tutu Milan - Post Number 92: Buongiorno Bella Milano!

Oh, my darlings, the wind is positively whistling through my pink tulle as I write this, perched on a delightful little café table overlooking the glorious Piazza Duomo. This city just keeps on giving! This week in Milano, darling, is a veritable whirlwind of ballet bliss, chic shopping sprees and an overwhelming desire to share a massive scoop of gelato with every beautiful soul I encounter.

For those of you just joining us, hello! I'm Emma, your pink tutu-clad ballerina blogger from the lovely, green county of Derbyshire in England. Here on www.pink-tutu.com I share my adventures, my passion for the art of ballet and of course, my endless love for all things pink. It's been my ambition since childhood, to get the entire world wearing a pink tutu – one fabulous twirl at a time!

The Pink Tutu Pilgrimage: A Week in Fashionable Milan

You know me, always searching for the next breathtaking ballet performance, the next hidden treasure on a bustling, cobbled street or a shop window with a shimmering, impossible dress. Well, let me tell you, Milan is an absolute wonderland of all things beautiful and fabulous.

This week's been a ballet ballet bonanza, a symphony of twirling and leaping that has my toes tingling and my heart singing! Last night, I saw the most spectacular rendition of La Sylphide at the Teatro alla Scala. The artistry, the graceful movements, the captivating story… well, let's just say I'm still humming the music as I sip my cappuccino! The Italian ballerinas, oh, they have such captivating stage presence, every movement seems to embody passion and pure joy. You could tell just how much they adore dancing and they're just so good at it – what a treat for the eyes and the soul.

My week in Milano wouldn’t be complete without venturing into the labyrinthine streets for some shopping. Did I tell you about my discovery of this incredible vintage boutique tucked away near the Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio? My dear, it was a vintage-lover’s dream come true! Gorgeous fifties dresses in every shade of pink imaginable, antique silk scarves, a hand-painted, satin ballerina slipper bag, and the most divine silk gloves! My heart fluttered with excitement.

Oh, the treasures I found! You know I just can't help but treat myself to a little something when I stumble upon a vintage shop bursting with vintage finery. Let's just say that I came home with a very pink suitcase this week – oh, and my handbag now matches my ballet slippers… who says you can't coordinate even when travelling, eh?

Tram Rides and Tulle Tales

Every Wednesday, I treat myself to a bit of culture and some gorgeous people watching at the Museo Poldi Pezzoli. They've got some exquisite paintings by my absolute favourite, Giovanni Bellini - you just can't get enough of the light in his work! Afterward, I indulge in an afternoon of exploring the city – you really can't appreciate the city unless you get lost amongst the shops, the cafes and the bustling streets. It’s these wanderings, my dears, that provide me with the best inspiration for my future blog posts.

My love for trams never seems to fade. This week I enjoyed a delightfully long, rambling journey across the city, just soaking in the sunshine, the smells of the market and, of course, enjoying the spectacle of everyday Milan. There’s a charming lady, she must be about my Grandma’s age, with a huge pink umbrella she always brings to the tram stop. Now that’s the kind of unbridled love of pink that I’m all about! She's definitely an inspiration. I’m certain we'd become fast friends!

Fashion Inspiration

Oh, darling, Milan is like stepping into a fairytale for fashion lovers. The streets are like a runway, with stylish locals rocking everything from sleek business suits to bohemian bohemian layers with a touch of chic sophistication. Everywhere you look there are incredible textures and bold colour combinations.

I'm feeling especially inspired by the Milanese ladies’ use of vibrant pinks in their wardrobes this week. From pale blush to a punchy fuchsia, these colours are adding a pop of life to classic Italian chic. And just like me, these women aren’t afraid to go all out with their pink, adding pink accessories, handbags and even a dash of pink in their nail polish.

Coming Up: Adventures in Italy!

This week’s whirlwind adventure in Milano has left me longing for more. But it's not goodbye just yet! My adventures don't end here - I'm off on a delightful road trip through the heart of Italy, and you can bet your pink tutus, my darlings, that I'll be documenting every delicious bite, every awe-inspiring sight and, of course, every twirling moment.

Stay tuned for a whole lot more from Pink Tutu, and don't forget, every day is an opportunity to embrace the pink life and find the joy in twirling!

See you next Monday for another fabulous week of travel tales from yours truly. And remember,

Let's dance through life, one pink tutu at a time!

Love, Emma
