Pink Tutu Milan: Post #94 - Wednesday 26th March 1997

Buongiorno, darlings! 🩰✨

This week, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina has landed in the glamorous city of Milan! Yes, that's right, I'm waltzing through the cobbled streets and chic boutiques of Italy's fashion capital, and trust me, I'm positively whirlwinding through all the gorgeous sights.

It's a little known fact that my passion for travel goes hand in hand with my love of dance - there's simply nothing like discovering a new city and finding the best ballet studios and performances. It's a whirlwind of inspiration, whether I'm exploring a new ballet style or just admiring the elegant costumes! And with a pink tutu in tow, you bet I turn heads wherever I go! 😉

Now, this particular week has been especially busy! Let me fill you in on my Milanian adventures...

A Parisian Interlude: En Route to Milan

My journey started in Paris, you see. I'd just finished a rather fabulous week performing at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, where I was graced with a most wonderful review: "Emma, the epitome of grace and style, danced with a fire that ignited the stage!" Swoon!

While Paris always has a special place in my heart (it's just so chic), it was time to venture further afield. And so, armed with my trusty pink tutu, my passport, and a suitcase filled with my latest fashion finds (a gorgeous floral print silk dress and a pair of chic black velvet ballet flats – oh la la!), I took the train to Milan.

Milan: A City That Makes Me Want to Waltz

The train journey was as beautiful as the views from the station itself! As I travelled across the French countryside, I couldn't help but imagine the ballet sequences that unfolded before my eyes. It was all very "On the Town" and full of enchanting elegance. By the time the train rolled into Milano Centrale, I was positively brimming with excitement!

My first order of business: finding the perfect spot to stay! After much research and consideration, I booked myself into a charming little hotel in the heart of the Brera district. This neighbourhood is just divine, with its picturesque cobbled streets, quaint art galleries, and bustling cafes. It feels like stepping back in time, and with the glorious Duomo as my backdrop, it was the ideal spot to start my Milanese adventures.

The Tram & The Tut-tastic Tour

One thing I always look for in a new city is its public transport, and let me tell you, Milan has the most amazing tram network! Imagine: beautiful, vintage trams weaving through the city streets, offering a front-row seat to the local charm. It's simply tres chic! So, naturellement, my trusty pink tutu was donned for my first public transport excursion. The tram journey took me past stunning architectural marvels, quaint little piazzas, and bustling shopping districts, and with each twist and turn, I felt a surge of delight that only a new city can offer.

Speaking of shopping...

A Shopping Spree for the Soul

After that fabulously fun tram ride, it was time for some serious retail therapy! Milan is, of course, the epitome of fashion, and I knew that this was the place to truly indulge in my sartorial desires. My day started at a delightful vintage boutique tucked away in a hidden alley, where I found the most exquisite embroidered silk blouse. You can imagine how excited I was to get that back to Derbyshire and show it off!

But the real prize awaited me at the famed Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a truly magnificent shopping arcade under the breathtaking Duomo. The opulence was unbelievable! From designer boutiques and elegant cafes to art galleries and high-end chocolatiers, it's like walking through a dream world. Of course, no trip to Milan is complete without a pair of Jimmy Choos. And who can resist a beautiful handcrafted leather handbag? Not me, that's for sure!

The afternoon flew by, filled with joyful "ooh la la!" moments and plenty of spontaneous twirls (my pink tutu naturally causing a bit of a stir – just as it should!) It was pure, unadulterated fun! And, yes, I even found a perfect new shade of lipstick for my repertoire!

A Date with the Arts

This evening, I'm off to experience the ballet world of Milan in all its glory. I've secured tickets for "La Traviata" at Teatro alla Scala, and I simply cannot wait! This iconic opera house has a legacy steeped in history, and to perform on its stage would be a ballerina's dream come true.

However, even a mere spectator gets to enjoy the beauty of this incredible venue. The majestic interior is nothing short of breathtaking! It's adorned with golden chandeliers, beautiful frescoes, and plush velvet seats. And as the performance begins, the magical world of music and dance unfolds. I'm sure this experience will leave me breathless and inspired.

Speaking of breath-taking, my latest ballet-inspired hair creation is bound to wow you all! I'm channeling a sophisticated, Parisian vibe – soft waves pulled back in a loose bun, with delicate strands framing the face. It's elegant, easy, and of course, perfectly complemented by a little pink ribbon to add that signature Pink Tutu flair.

That's all for this week, darlings! I hope you've enjoyed following me on my Italian adventures. Next week, I'm delving into the world of Milan's street performers and dance classes, and, of course, there'll be more shopping and sightseeing!

Keep those pink tutus handy, and stay tuned!

Au revoir for now!

XOXO,

Emma
