Pink Tutu Milan: #108 - Buongiorno Bella! A Trip Through The City of Fashion & Dance

Ciao from Milan, my darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina blogger, Emma, here, and today, the sunshine is absolutely beaming in this gorgeous city. You wouldn't believe it, but even the cobblestone streets seem to be dancing in this beautiful weather! And me? Well, I'm practically bouncing with excitement. This week's adventure has been pure magic - I've got a ballet-filled diary to share, packed full of fabulous fashion finds and, of course, some delicious Milanese delicacies.

But first, a quick cuppa? Let's catch up with a delightful English breakfast tea at my favourite little café nestled right by the Teatro alla Scala. This café is just a hop, skip, and jump from the Duomo and its towering, beautiful spire. Honestly, I feel like a princess who has just stepped out of a fairytale! The café is bursting with delicious smells and the gentle sounds of chatter in a beautiful, sunlit setting - I could stay here forever!

Oh, but the call of Milan's magic beckons! My dance card is full today. And today is not just any day, oh no! It's Wednesday, July 2nd, 1997! And you know what that means? Time for some amazing Ballet!

The Magic of Movement

Just this morning, I had the joy of attending a ballet class in a beautifully lit studio near the Piazza del Duomo. I swear, even the sunlight dances around you in this city! We worked on elegant arabesques, fluid port de bras, and some energetic jetés that made me feel like I was floating through the air. It was exhilarating! And let's just say, the other dancers certainly know how to turn heads with their beautiful moves. I was especially taken by a young ballerina with eyes as bright as sapphires and a smile as charming as a Spring blossom. The artistry here is incredible, just like the city itself.

Fashion Fanatic

This afternoon, I've been indulging in a little bit of Milanese fashion heaven. Let's just say my credit card has taken a slight hit, but my wardrobe has been graced with some gorgeous new pieces! Milan is a haven for exquisite fashion - every shop is a feast for the eyes! I just can't resist a fabulous floral print or a vibrant coloured scarf, particularly if it has some subtle, swirling ballerina motifs. Speaking of, a pink tutu just doesn't get any more gorgeous! (Just imagine: the Duomo mirrored in a pink tutu!)

Milan, a Culinary Delights

Dinner was a feast for my senses at one of the oldest, most traditional Trattorias in the heart of Milan. The flavours, the smells...I felt as though I had travelled back in time! My eyes were soothed by a lovely pastel-toned tablecloth adorned with charming floral patterns. I had a wonderful creamy, fresh gnocchi, drizzled with a sweet tomato sauce that had me savoring every morsel! And, of course, I had a glass of luscious, chilled local wine – oh, how refreshing! I was joined for dinner by a lovely, friendly Italian gentleman who told me stories of the old city - it was simply captivating.

The Beauty of Transport

To move around Milan, you know what I like? I adore the trams, they are so beautiful with their wooden seats and painted details! It is like travelling back in time with a touch of Italian charm. Today, I decided to take a delightful tram ride along the Via Monte Napoleone, which was packed with luxurious fashion boutiques – simply stunning! The shop windows were like paintings! And it's always a joy to witness the life of the city on a slow, gentle journey like that. There is something utterly captivating about watching the cityscape go by with each rhythmic click of the wheels on the tracks. The Milanese trams seem to understand the rhythm of my tutu, and they seem to love the colour pink - especially my beautiful tulle-trimmed, shimmering pink bag with a ballerina print. I feel so wonderfully chic as I watch the world pass me by.

My favourite tram route:

My absolute favourite route takes me to the vibrant Porta Nuova district. The vibrant murals on the side of the buildings there, they’re an absolute art attack! But it is truly magical!

A World of Beauty

My dear blog readers, I'm falling deeper and deeper in love with this beautiful city. Milan, with its historic buildings, beautiful plazas, and the energy of its inhabitants, truly feels like a vibrant symphony! From the graceful arches of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II to the towering majesty of the Duomo, every turn reveals another stunning sight. Even the pigeons have an air of refinement, strutting around as if they're posing for a fashion magazine! I’m beginning to think I might move here, maybe rent a charming little flat…

Pink Tutu for All!

I've got one mission in life, my dearest blog readers. *It is my lifelong dream that the world will one day be full of beautiful, twirling ballerinas in pink tutus. * Can you imagine? Pink tutus fluttering everywhere! What a sight it would be! My readers tell me they think they will try wearing tutus once in a while - to cheer up the world - which is so wonderful! Just be prepared to stand out - just as I do in my bright pink tutu, dancing through life, always with a smile.

I can’t believe my time here in Milan is almost up, it's flying by in a whirlwind of fashion, beauty and ballet. Next week I’ll be heading over to beautiful Venice, which I just cannot wait to discover - there’s so much to share, so make sure you visit www.pink-tutu.com next Monday for a brand new post about the enchanting city of canals. And before I go, make sure you all head over to my Facebook page for some more fun photos from Milan, especially those gorgeous tutus!

Until then, keep smiling, keep dancing, and always remember to spread a little pink-tutu joy. Ciao bella!

Emma.
