Pink Tutu Milan #114: Italian Glamour and Tutu Dreams!

Ciao, darlings!

It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, writing to you from the dazzling city of Milan! I know, I know, I haven't been to this fashion paradise in ages, but my bank balance finally allowed me to escape the rigours of Derbyshire life for a week of tutus, trams and Teatro alla Scala. It's a total dream come true!

Milan by Tram

Right, let me tell you about my journey. My heart did a little pirouette when I spotted the cute red and cream tram taking me from the train station straight to my charming little B&B in the heart of the city. It was all vintage charm and exposed brickwork - absolutely perfect! Milan is so easy to get around by tram; you feel like a character straight out of a classic film!

Pink Paradise in Milan

My first stop had to be a shop called “Rosa & Fiore,” (meaning “Rose & Flower,” obviously!) I swear, you could smell the Italian luxury before you even entered the shop! The windows were bursting with stunning dresses, all in different shades of pink, from dusky blush to bright fuchsia. This place is definitely a haven for any girl who loves a bit of pink sparkle in their life. I ended up walking out with a stunning pale pink silk scarf and a pair of shimmering ballet shoes – they’re already getting lots of admiring glances!

Ballet Bliss: A Night at the Teatro Alla Scala

Now, for the main event! Teatro Alla Scala – home to some of the most incredible ballet in the world. It’s a stunning building, all red velvet and golden chandeliers. It’s one of those places that takes your breath away. You really feel like you've been transported back in time.

This evening, the performance was "Giselle," a classic tale of love, betrayal, and, well, more love. The dancers were just incredible; so light on their feet and so expressive. The costumes were beautiful too - I particularly loved the airy tutus the corps de ballet wore. I have to admit, a couple of tears escaped my eyes – ballet can be so emotional!

After the show, I headed straight for a cafe for a late-night cappuccino. The buzz of the city was all around me – there's a definite sense of excitement in the air here.

Street Art and Tutu Inspiration

Milan is not just about glamorous shops and grand opera houses, though. On Wednesday, I took a leisurely stroll through the Navigli, exploring the charming canals and admiring the incredible street art. Every corner seemed to have a new, colorful masterpiece – from quirky illustrations to bold graffiti, it’s like an outdoor art gallery! I felt a surge of inspiration for my next tutu creation. Maybe a vibrant floral print?

Fashionable Find: A Tutu Emporium!

No visit to Milan would be complete without a visit to some of its incredible boutiques. And guess what? I discovered a store dedicated entirely to tutus! It's a tutu lover's dream – they had every style imaginable, from classic white to shimmery sequin designs, even a collection of mini tutus for little ballerinas. I felt like a kid in a candy shop – I swear, I wanted to try them all on!

Wednesday’s Special Treat

Now, let’s talk about food, because no travel blog is complete without a delicious treat. My Wednesday indulgence was a visit to “Pasticceria Marchesi,” a famous bakery, just a few steps from the Duomo. Oh, the pastries! I tried a “Panna Cotta” with fresh fruit – heaven on a plate. My favourite, though, was the delicate, melt-in-your-mouth macaron. Every single bite was an explosion of sweetness and flavour. It was like dancing on clouds.

Dreamy Days in Milan

There’s nothing quite like wandering around a city like Milan – all those charming little cafes, the vibrant streets, and the sense of history and culture around every corner. Milan has stolen my heart. It's not just the glamour that makes this city special; it's also the incredible mix of old and new, tradition and innovation. You just have to feel it.

The Pink Tutu Mission: Milan Style!

Now, the Pink Tutu mission, darling. Every time I travel, I hope to spread the love for all things pink and twirly. I saw some beautiful ladies on the tram rocking some pink, but, let's be honest, I still have some work to do. There is an elegant simplicity here in Milan; I feel a subtle pink accent is what every outfit needs, especially in a place where style matters. Just imagine the impact of pink on the Teatro Alla Scala. Imagine a pink tulle overlay on a classic black gown - what a way to make an entrance!

A Final Pirouette

And there you have it, my darlings, a little taste of Milan life. I've spent my days dancing in pink shoes, enjoying every single delicious pastry, and just soaking up the energy of this stylish city. And it has definitely inspired my future blog posts and, of course, my next pink tutu creation! Stay tuned for those – I can’t wait to share my new ideas.

Ciao for now,

Emma xoxo
