Pink Tutu Milan #116: A Whirlwind Wednesday in the City of Fashion! 🩰🇮🇹

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your resident pink tutu aficionado, and I'm back from a whirlwind Wednesday in the fabulous city of Milan!

As always, I'm writing to you from the comfort of my charming little Airbnb, which is actually just a hop, skip and a jump from the Duomo – the city's most stunning cathedral. Seriously, this place is like something out of a fairytale. Think sweeping marble floors, intricate mosaics and a towering spire that practically touches the heavens. It's pure architectural bliss, my dears!

But let's get down to the nitty-gritty – I've been busy! Wednesday started with a hearty Italian breakfast (pancakes for me!) and then a thrilling tram ride to the heart of the city. I must say, Milan's public transport is pretty impressive. All sleek, modern and perfectly punctual. Not to mention the fabulous people-watching opportunities!

Speaking of fabulous people, I bumped into the most amazing vintage clothing store tucked away in a charming side street. The shop was absolutely brimming with treasures, like vintage Dior dresses with such beautiful craftsmanship. I swear, I could have spent hours in there sifting through silk blouses and sparkling necklaces. But I managed to exercise some willpower and left with only a stunning floral print scarf, a perfect touch of elegance for my evening plans.

Later on, I joined my fellow ballet enthusiast friends, Rossella and Isabella, for a breathtaking ballet show at Teatro alla Scala. Oh, my darlings! This venue is nothing short of majestic. The interior is all rich velvet and glittering chandeliers, the acoustics are divine, and the dancers? They were phenomenal! Every move, every leap, every graceful turn told a story. I could have watched them all night!

After the show, we strolled through the city streets, relishing the lively energy that only Milan can offer. We even stopped for some authentic gelato at a little shop tucked away in a cobbled alley – creamy, smooth and simply heavenly!

My day concluded with a long soak in the bath, indulging in a face mask and reading a beautiful coffee table book I picked up in the vintage shop. It was filled with photographs of fashion icons like Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn, both inspirations for my own fashion sense, of course!

Let's not forget about the fashion aspect of Milan! It truly is the epicentre of style and flair. It's fascinating to observe how people blend classic Italian chic with their own unique twist, and there's always a delightful abundance of street style to admire. One of the most impressive things I saw on Wednesday was a woman wearing a fabulous scarlet dress with a long, flowing scarlet scarf that she tied in a dramatic bow. It was a stunning ensemble!

You know, I think about what's inspiring me these days. I can see where I'm drawn to these days - elegant, simple, stylish and flowing silhouettes. The vintage pieces that I've found this week in Milan, and the performances at La Scala were so inspirational to me this week, I'm already thinking about some new routines and costumes for my upcoming performance in Derbyshire in a couple of weeks' time. Maybe a little red for me, for my next routine. I'll see if I can find something special whilst I'm in Milan!

Remember, darlings, always keep your tutu close and never stop dreaming!

Now, it's time to bid you adieu, but I promise to be back next Monday with another exciting instalment of Pink Tutu Milan. Until then, wear your pink with pride and dance your heart out! And do tell, have any of you been to Milan? If you have, share your experiences! I'd love to hear them.

Until next week!

XOXO

Emma
