Oh, darlings, how utterly fabulous is Milan? It’s practically a fashion playground, just bursting with beautiful boutiques and shops with shimmering window displays that have my toes tapping in excitement. You just can’t beat that Milanese magic, the way the city is just overflowing with fashion and culture – you can really feel the heartbeat of the city. And as you know, fashion and culture are right up my street! (And of course, up my pink tutu!).
This week, my fabulous adventure is taking place in the gorgeous city of Milan, the fashion capital of Italy! You can bet I’m on the lookout for a truly wonderful pink tutu that might have accidentally wandered its way into one of Milan’s famous boutiques. After all, a pink tutu is just a necessary part of my wardrobe when you’re roaming through this fashion metropolis. It’s almost like wearing your own personal pink invitation to Milan’s elegant embrace! I’ve always loved Italy and Milan has captured my heart with its chic cobblestone streets, elegant shops and delicious cafes – especially the ones with delicious creamy cappuccino that are a total must-have for this Derbyshire lass on a girly-girls’ Italian adventure.
But let's face it, my dears, Italy is a cultural wonderland as well! I'm a total ballet fanatic, so it’s absolutely divine being able to watch spectacular performances at the Teatro alla Scala. Honestly, watching the ballet dancers grace the stage in their flowing, beautifully-crafted tutus is such an exquisite pleasure. It takes me right back to the stage myself, making me remember the wonderful thrill of a grand jeté. You could say the entire experience gives me butterflies! It just never gets old – especially when I can feel the heart-pumping joy of the music filling my heart and sending me back to my days on stage, performing at the wonderful Derby Playhouse, and at countless local dance festivals throughout the East Midlands.
You may be wondering how a girl like me manages to fund my pink-tutu-infused adventures across the globe? It all comes down to good ol’ fashioned hard work and dedication! From performing at charming town halls and local theatres throughout Derbyshire and beyond, I have been lucky enough to find success, and make enough to make my dream of travelling the world come true. Each graceful twirl and soaring pirouette has brought me closer to my pink tutu clad adventures. I also pick up little ballet roles where I can – local theater and community productions are great for earning a little money! I always tell everyone: "Every spin deserves a little adventure! Just you wait, we’re going to bring the pink tutu revolution to the entire world!"
But back to my fab Milano travels! On this balmy Wednesday afternoon, I spent the day dancing my way through the charming shops of Milan. I always take my travel journal with me - so I’m jotting down all the fashion discoveries – Milan truly is an enchanting place! What better place to shop for the perfect ballet outfit than this city with its intoxicating mix of modern, chic and stylish designs! From the boutiques overflowing with designer shoes to the trendy independent stores, the options are truly endless – oh, to have that kind of retail therapy! Of course, a little souvenir for Mum and Dad is a must.
After my spree through the shopping streets, I took a leisurely stroll to a cute cafe - a spot just a hop, skip, and jump away from my hotel. I just love the traditional cafes, filled with beautiful pastel colours. There’s something about a vintage pastel cafe – a pink one preferably, with a delicious pot of strong coffee and a melt-in-your-mouth croissant, that really adds to the enchanting atmosphere. It feels just as if you've stepped back in time and wandered onto the set of an old-school movie!
In the afternoon, I am just SO excited to catch a captivating performance at Teatro alla Scala, Milan's world-renowned opera house. It's hard to imagine a better way to spend an afternoon! This is what it is all about, you know? Feeling alive and enjoying these wonderful moments of bliss and happiness that this fantastic city offers! My pink tutu is ready to spin under the chandeliers, and my heart is full of the wonderful energy that only the Milanese Opera House can offer! I have the feeling this will be the performance of a lifetime! Oh, how I wish you could all be here in my shoes (and my pink tutu!).
