Pink Tutu Milan - Post #160: Ciao Bella from Milan!

19th July 1998

Buongiorno from beautiful Milan, darlings! It's me, your favourite tutu-tastic blogger, Emma, back with another post straight from the fashion heart of Italy!

Milan is just buzzing with energy! It's been a whirlwind of sightseeing, dancing, shopping and of course, the most delicious food. As you all know, I've been lucky enough to be travelling around the world, sharing my passion for ballet, tutus, and all things pretty with you lovely lot, and I can tell you, Milan hasn't disappointed.

You guys probably saw me strutting my stuff at that fabulous performance in Modena last week - "Swan Lake" in the most gorgeous setting! Those costumes were to die for, and of course, I did my best to stand out with a shimmering pink tutu (I've had so many compliments, by the way - it seems everyone loves pink!).

The performance was a whirlwind of emotions, the graceful dancers moving like swans on the water. After the show, the crowd was ecstatic, and you know me, I just had to soak up all the applause and excitement! But let's be real, for me, it's all about that post-performance pizza and prosecco – I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, darling.

But I digress! Today's blog is all about Milan, and the beauty and culture that it offers. It feels amazing to be back here, especially since it was one of the first international trips I took as a tutu-wearing babe. So many fabulous memories – my first gelato on the Via Monte Napoleone, my first look at the Duomo in all its glory, and of course, the most gorgeous fashion boutiques!

Speaking of fashion, have I told you about my new pink tutu obsession? It’s all about adding a dash of pink to your look, even in this stylish city! There's a boutique here in Milan, tucked away on a side street, with the most incredible pink tutus. Let’s just say my bank account is weeping, but my wardrobe is rejoicing!

A Walk Around the Fashion Capital

Today I woke up bright and early and, after a glorious breakfast (with extra cappuccinos, of course), decided to take a stroll through Milan's most beautiful streets. And oh my, darling, what a sight it was! The sunlight catching the intricate detail of the buildings, the air filled with the aroma of fresh pastries and the vibrant colours of flowers adorning the shops... It's all so inspiring, especially for a tutu-wearing soul like myself! I think I might take a sketchpad next time to capture some of these glorious scenes.

But my walk wouldn't be complete without visiting Milan's famous Duomo, would it? It's breathtaking, a magnificent cathedral with so much history behind it. Standing there, staring up at the Gothic arches, I couldn't help but imagine what it must have been like to witness the building's construction centuries ago. Talk about a real sense of history!

Of course, my trip wouldn't be complete without some shopping! My inner shopaholic just couldn't be contained. This afternoon, I’m off to discover some new, fabulous outfits to take me from ballerina to brunch in a flash. My favourite pink tutus just have to make an appearance, obviously, because no look is complete without that touch of sparkle!

Milan by Tram

Something you must do when visiting Milan is hop on one of the trams. They are a part of the city's charm, taking you on a journey through history and beauty, all while you soak up the energy of this vibrant city. And guess what? You can even wear a pink tutu on board, which just makes the experience even more magical!

Oh, and I have to talk about the people in Milan! Everyone is so stylish and confident. They effortlessly pull off looks that wouldn't dare be seen anywhere else, and of course, they've made me feel even more empowered in my own fabulous tutu style.

Upcoming Performances and Events

Speaking of style and confidence, there's nothing more empowering than seeing talented ballerinas gracefully taking to the stage. I can't wait to catch a couple more ballet performances while I’m in Milan. Next week I’m off to see the beautiful "Giselle," which is renowned for its ethereal beauty and exquisite choreography. Then it’s time to head to the opera!

And if you’re visiting Milan, make sure you check out the Teatro alla Scala – it's absolutely unmissable! A majestic theater, with the most breathtaking architecture, I felt like I stepped into a fairytale the moment I stepped inside.

Looking Ahead: Travel Plans & The Importance of a Pink Tutu

As you guys know, I love travelling and sharing my love for ballet and tutus with the world. My next adventure will be taking me to… oh, wait, I can’t tell you just yet – I’ve got to keep some surprises in store, right? But trust me, it’s going to be fabulous.

I’m always working on new ways to inspire you to embrace the fun side of life and wear a pink tutu wherever you go! After all, I believe a tutu can make the world a brighter, more fun, and sparkly place, no matter where you are.

I can’t wait to hear about your own pink tutu adventures – don’t forget to share your pics and stories with me!

Until next week, darlings, stay fabulous!

Love, Emma xx
