Pink Tutu Milan: #211 - Ciao Bella Milano!

Buongiorno, my lovely ballet bunnies! It's Emma here, your Pink Tutu princess, and this week I'm dancing my way through the magical streets of Milano! I’m so excited to share my Milanese adventures with you all - and believe me, they've been spectacular!

This week's adventures have been all about tutus, trains, and tramlines! Milan is truly a city that gets my heart swirling with delight - the architecture, the fashion, the FOOD (oh, the FOOD!), and the culture – it’s simply enchanting!

Let's rewind a bit...

My week started back in Derbyshire, the beautiful county I call home. The Derbyshire air is so fresh, and it fills me with inspiration! But before long, the yearning for Italy started to pull me towards the railway station! I was bubbling with excitement for my Milanese ballet rendezvous!

My love affair with trains is well documented here on the Pink Tutu blog - there’s just something so romantic and glamorous about arriving at a station. This time it was Euston, and I swear, even the station itself felt "chic and glamorous" - maybe because of all those chic people rushing past wearing fabulous suits, high heels, and designer handbags. You can really feel the style buzzing through the air!

But enough about the glamour - let’s dive into my fabulous Milan week:

The pink tutu makes its Milan debut:

Milano, it’s safe to say, was made for tutus! There are beautiful gardens, majestic buildings, breathtaking art – it’s truly an inspiration for a ballerina. My pink tutu has made several cameo appearances already:

  • I even did a "pink tutu spin" outside the magnificent Duomo – that towering cathedral with its gorgeous spire! (Think “The Sound of Music” vibes with a more elegant pink tutu touch, if you get me).
  • In the lush and gorgeous Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli, I did a series of graceful pirouettes. Everyone seemed captivated, and even a small dog paused from its playful antics to watch with awestruck tail wags. You'll see it on my Instagram, of course! #PinkTutuMilan

A tram ride to remember:

Let me tell you, Milan's trams are a delight! It's a perfect mix of efficient and charming, not to mention utterly beautiful with the tram carriages all gleaming and brightly colored! My tram ride from the station was just magic. I felt as though I was transported back in time – and a very chic time at that! It's so fun to experience the everyday routines of this city, to see Milan in action from the comfort of a sleek and vintage-style tram.

Shopping in Style:

Oh, Milano, what a place for shopping! Of course, the grand Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, is a shopaholic’s dream with beautiful stores galore. My trip started with a visit to a glorious vintage clothing boutique - imagine delicate silk dresses and beaded blouses, it was just heavenly! For a Pink Tutu princess, finding those perfect accessories that complement my tutus is an essential activity!

A Day at the Ballet:

Wednesday is ballet day, as it always is in my heart and soul! And Wednesday the 23rd was a special occasion. The Teatro alla Scala - oh, it’s just breathtakingly beautiful! It's a sight to behold – ornate and opulent and it exudes elegance. I watched a performance of the "La Traviata," which, with its beautiful and tragic love story, completely captivated me.

The dancers, the musicians, the costumes, the sets... everything about the performance was utterly perfect, it was one of those times that a standing ovation was definitely justified. Afterward, I went out to grab a quick bite with one of the lovely soloists! It's always fantastic to connect with other dancers.

More Adventures To Come:

I have so much more to share with you! I’ve discovered this incredible, traditional, Italian restaurant just down a quaint cobblestone street. Imagine wood-fired pizzas, steaming pasta dishes, and oh so much gelato… Stay tuned!

I know I said I would be here all week, but there’s more for you all to discover on Pink-Tutu.com! There’s a little something for everyone, so pop on over and let me know what you think!

From the heart of Milano with love, Emma

Your Pink Tutu princess

XOXO

P.S. Don't forget to join me for my live performance next week in the charming town of Verona. We will have a "Pink Tutu Meet & Greet" after the show so come along and join in the fun! I have a special pink tutu surprise in store!
