Pink Tutu Milan: #236 – Whirlwind Wednesdays & a Pink-tastic Performance!
Ciao bella! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where pink tutus rule and the only thing more exciting than a twirl is a new pair of ballet shoes! 🩰
This week, my lovely readers, I've been living my best life here in Milan. It's a whirlwind of cultural delights, from the beautiful architecture to the even more stunning shopping. Yes, that's right - more stunning than the architecture! We all know what my favourite thing is about Milan - the abundance of shops!
But don't worry, I've been keeping it pink-tastic as always. This week I even donned my trusty pink tutu, just to remind the locals that a bit of sunshine never hurts. The streets of Milan have been my stage this week, and let me tell you, it's a bit of a show in itself. It's so wonderful to have everyone watching as I stroll through the piazzas, my tutu fluttering in the breeze!
A Wednesday Well Spent
You see, dear readers, this past Wednesday, 15th December 1999, was truly a whirlwind. I began the day at the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Can you imagine? Such a glamorous setting - just perfect for a bit of people watching and letting my own fashion sense shine!
That's another thing about Milan, isn't it? There's such an exciting and energetic style. You wouldn't catch these fashionistas wearing your everyday drab clothes. Here, even the pigeons look glamorous, let me tell you! I may even start offering ballet lessons for birds - watch this space.
The Grand Theatre
Anyway, where was I? Oh, right! The Galleria. It was here that I encountered the most wonderful street performance. You won't believe this, it was the most incredible ballet I've seen outside of a professional setting. I could have watched them all day! There's something about street ballet, it's just so vibrant and raw. It reminded me so much of why I love ballet - the power, the artistry, and most importantly, the emotion! I could almost feel the dancers’ every thought, every jump, every twist, right in my very core. It was pure magic.
The sun had almost set by the time I finally caught my breath and made my way to the Teatro alla Scala. Now, darling, you know what a thrill this was! The Scala is legendary, one of the world's most celebrated opera houses, and it just screamed "Emma!"
And, wouldn't you know it, this evening was a perfect mix of everything I adore. Not only was there an incredible opera performance (think majestic vocals, grand costumes and intricate storytelling!), but the stage had been transformed into a magnificent ballroom scene for a gala ball. Can you even imagine? It was like stepping right into a fairytale! The chandeliers glistened, the guests were beautifully dressed, and I just couldn't help myself but sway to the rhythm of the music. I had to restrain myself from twirling into the ballroom!
Dinner & A Show
By the end of the evening, I was thrilled - a pink-tutu clad dream come true. I grabbed a quick pizzetta and a delicious limoncello in a trattoria with a charming view.
Of course, I spent the evening meticulously cataloging every beautiful piece I saw! The show really made me consider adding some glamorous sequins and feathers to my personal collection.
As the lights dimmed over Milan, I wandered through the cobbled streets back to my hotel, feeling like I’d just witnessed an era of pure elegance and excitement.
Travel & Fashion Tips
A little tip from my side, my dear readers: always pack a practical but chic bag that’s big enough to carry your shopping (who doesn't need a shopping bag in Milan?), your pink tutu, a stylish pair of ballet shoes, and your essentials. I always opt for a stylish, black handbag with a comfortable handle and roomy interior. Remember, looking chic while being prepared is key for a fun-filled city exploration!
Next Stop, Derbyshire
And now, darling readers, my journey continues. As we bid farewell to sunny Milan, I’ll be returning to the hills and valleys of Derbyshire. Yes, you heard right! After all this exciting glamour, it's time for a change of scenery. The Derbyshire peaks are calling, with their stunning natural beauty and charming little villages, just begging to be explored!
But never fear, you’ll be the first to know what pink tutu shenanigans unfold when I arrive home. I can just see the look on the locals’ faces as I make my way down the cobblestone paths in my trusty pink tutu. Oh, I do so love a bit of theatrical contrast.
Coming Next Week:
This time next week, you'll find me nestled amongst the quaint Derbyshire charm. I’ll be back with a new post on Pink Tutu Derbyshire: #237 - Hilltop Harmony! I'll be sharing all my Derbyshire travel tips, highlighting some unique boutiques, and revealing some of the exciting ballet classes and performances I have planned! So, stay tuned, my dears, for another week of pink-tutu adventures.
And remember, you’ll find more Pink Tutu tales every Monday over on my website: www.pink-tutu.com!
Until then, keep on twirling, keep on shining, and never, ever forget the power of a pink tutu!
Love and twirls, Emma xoxo
