It's Wednesday, February 2nd, and I'm brimming with excitement, as I just finished another captivating performance at Teatro alla Scala, the magnificent Milan opera house! My heart still races from the applause and the thrill of dancing for such a discerning audience.
My dear readers, you know how much I adore travelling, and hopping around the Italian cities is always a highlight for me. This time, it’s Milan, a city brimming with vibrant energy, delicious smells, and style that simply explodes!
But first, a bit of back story - I’m Emma, from the green and pleasant Derbyshire, and I'm a dreamer at heart! My biggest dream, apart from performing on the grandest of stages, is to spread the love for tutus. Pink tutus, of course! To bring a touch of magic, a dash of joy, and a splash of colour into the world, one pink tutu at a time!
Now, you might be thinking, “Emma, how on earth do you manage all this, travelling the world and performing in spectacular places, wearing a tutu?!” Well, my darling readers, I’m a firm believer that life is an adventure, and following your dreams is a beautiful journey. The audiences are my patrons, their applause is my reward, and that’s how I keep chasing my dreams, tutu and all!
Speaking of dreams, this whole journey started with an opportunity to perform at the Royal Opera House in London. From there, things spiraled in a dazzling fashion – performances, competitions, invitations, collaborations, and this, my dearest readers, is the most fun I’ve ever had!
Milan: A city brimming with beauty, charm, and fashion
Milan – oh, Milan! This city truly embodies the Italian way of life. Every corner whispers a story – from the chic cafes with their steaming cups of cappuccino to the cobblestone streets buzzing with fashionable locals. And, of course, we mustn't forget the exquisite Italian cuisine! It's no wonder that this city is a magnet for foodies and fashionistas alike!
This time, I explored Milan with my very dear friend, Valentina, a stunning ballerina from Rome who shares my love for tutus and all things pretty! She’s been my dearest companion in countless adventures and, let me tell you, this trip was no different! We embraced the Milanese lifestyle, indulging in exquisite gelato, laughing over espressos, and finding the perfect pink accessories. Yes, you heard right! Pink, my dears, pink!

Speaking of pink accessories, the fashion scene in Milan is simply sensational. Valentina and I found ourselves diving head-first into the incredible world of Italian fashion. Of course, my journey wouldn't be complete without a sprinkle of pink, right? My search for the perfect pink beret ended at a charming little boutique tucked away on Via Montenapoleone. It was exactly the perfect touch to my Milan outfit. Don't you just love finding hidden treasures?
The Tram Diaries: An Artful Commute
To move around Milan, Valentina and I hopped onto their iconic trams, beautifully crafted with traditional interiors, they felt like they stepped out of a romantic novel. It's truly a delightful and efficient way to explore the city, offering fantastic views and an opportunity to soak up the bustling city life.
A Ballet Experience like no other
I’m never going to forget the exhilarating experience of performing at the Teatro alla Scala! It’s an incredibly beautiful theatre with incredible acoustics. As I stood on that grand stage, bathed in the warm spotlight, surrounded by the rich history of this iconic venue, I felt a sense of absolute awe! Performing here was truly a dream come true.
After the performance, Valentina and I strolled along the streets, watching the world go by. The energy of the city was intoxicating. Milan truly captivates you with its unique blend of fashion, history, and art, and we made sure we saw as much of it as we could!
