Pink Tutu Milan: Wednesday 2000-07-12 - Post #266 🩰💖🇮🇹

Ciao, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, back from the glorious city of Milan! This week, I'm bursting with excitement about everything this Italian gem has to offer, and I'm ready to share all the glitz and glamour with you.

As you know, I love exploring new cities, soaking up the atmosphere, and experiencing the local culture. And let's be honest, what better way to do that than through the lens of a ballet enthusiast? My trip to Milan has been a whirlwind of dazzling ballet performances, fabulous fashion finds, and, of course, enough delicious pasta to make my heart sing.

But before I get lost in the whirlwind of Milanese delights, let's get this week's blog started properly with my usual update on… well, me!

This Week's Pink Tutu Update:

I know, I know, you’re dying to see my new pink tutu. This week's addition to my collection arrived this morning and trust me, it’s so fabulous. Think a pale, blush pink with a touch of glitter – it sparkles like a million little stars, and it has a beautiful satin ribbon sash with a single, tiny pink rose. Oh, and did I mention the layer of delicate, fluffy tulle that flows out like a cloud of spun sugar?

I tried it on this morning, twirling around in my little London flat and, wow, it made me feel like a proper princess. And when I’m twirling around in Milan’s Piazza del Duomo this afternoon, I think it'll make my heart burst with joy. It's a perfect example of how a little pink can add so much life and beauty to the world – that's my philosophy, you see!

And on that note, let's head to Milan!

Milan: The City That Never Sleeps (Even When It's Raining) ☔️🩰

After a blissful train journey from Verona (more about that later!), I arrived in Milan yesterday. The sun was shining, the air was buzzing with life, and the energy in this city was infectious! Milan, as you know, is famous for fashion, design, and its vibrant cultural scene. But did you know that the ballet scene here is equally vibrant? I'm seriously excited about the incredible performances and the passionate community I've already found here.

My favourite part about Milan? The trams! They’re like mini time machines, filled with charm and locals. This morning I jumped on one, took a route through the city, and got to see so many lovely, historical buildings. The Italian city’s mix of the modern and traditional makes for the most picturesque backdrops! And to think, I have to go to Italy for this? Perhaps if I twirl my tutu enough at Victoria station in Derby, the magic will transport me!

Ballet Brilliance in Milan: A Glimpse into Teatro alla Scala 🩰🌟

After the excitement of the morning’s journey through the city, the biggest highlight of my time in Milan has to be my visit to Teatro alla Scala. Let's just say this: it was magnificent! It was even more breathtaking in real life than I'd ever imagined. From the ornate gilded interior to the acoustics that brought the music to life, every detail felt like a perfect piece in a magical ballet. The history in these walls is palpable!

As soon as I walked into the theatre, I was overcome with the sheer beauty of it all. I swear I could hear the echo of past ballets filling the space!

To top it all off, I managed to snag a ticket for tonight’s performance, a stunning adaptation of ‘Swan Lake’. Oh, I cannot wait! It’s been a while since I've indulged in such a classical performance, and the sheer scale and sophistication of the theatre is giving me the goosebumps! I mean, they don't do things by halves in Italy, right?

You'll have to stay tuned for my full review next week – you can be sure that a pink-tutu-clad blogger is going to bring you the best scoop on what to see, what to wear, and where to be!

The Charm of Milanese Shopping (And Finding the Perfect Outfit) 🛍️

Who else lives for fashion shopping? Because you know it’s the only reason I visited the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – right? This beautifully designed arcade is home to some of the biggest names in fashion and luxury retail. It’s a visual feast, from the architectural masterpieces of the glass dome to the exquisite displays of high fashion – seriously, I had to remind myself to breathe!

But you’ll never guess what I discovered tucked away in a little side street… A vintage clothing store. I couldn’t believe my luck – and my eyes! Rows and rows of beautiful gowns, suits, hats and, you guessed it, even some tutus. You can imagine how delighted I was when I stumbled upon a shimmering midnight blue velvet tutu. Just the colour I was missing from my collection. I think this will pair beautifully with my ruby red sequined top, wouldn't you agree?

Of course, I spent a happy afternoon perusing the racks, and I managed to find a stunning velvet coat in an almost-pink hue. It's a timeless piece with a touch of Milanese chic, which is definitely how I’m feeling these days. I can’t wait to style this beauty when I return home – I think a red beret, some high heels and a pop of pink jewellery will create a real knockout look!

Discovering a Passion for Italian Pastries 🧁☕️

Between ballet classes and shopping excursions, I'm doing my best to indulge in all the culinary delights Milan has to offer! Of course, no trip to Italy would be complete without a sampling of its divine pastries and sweets. I swear they put real passion into every single creation. Just look at the colourful, creamy cannoli at my local pasticceria! And don't even get me started on the heavenly gelato!

The pastries in Italy are an art form. They have the most incredible variety. You'll see, they are absolutely delightful: from the rich, creamy tiramisu to the flaky sfogliatella filled with ricotta cream.

I swear I’m starting to speak more Italian just to ask for extra cannoli! I can already imagine a little pastry in my hand as I sit at a charming cafe, sipping espresso. Ahhh, pure joy.

What’s Happening This Wednesday:

The highlight of the week has to be my trip to Teatro alla Scala to see ‘Swan Lake’. The magic of ballet at one of the most iconic theatres in the world – what’s not to love! I'm planning to put on my most glamorous outfit and a bit of my new pink tutu for a splash of colour, as a little tribute to my love for the art form.

A Pink Tutu Prayer 🙏🏻🎀:

My fellow pink-tutu lovers, we're on a mission, a ballet-inspired, pink-powered, tutu-loving revolution! As you all know, I’m on a mission to spread the joy of pink tutus worldwide – one pink tutu at a time. After a week in Milan, it's time to ask for a little help. Join me in praying that everyone, everywhere, experiences the sheer joy and liberating feeling that comes with twirling in a pink tutu. Just a little pink fluff, that’s all it takes.

I'll be sharing more adventures in the city of fashion, ballet, and pastry next week! In the meantime, why not have a look at our fabulous website www.pink-tutu.com – full of pink-tutu ideas, inspiration, and everything in between.

Until then, ciao, darling!

Love,

Emma
