Ciao bella!
This week, my darling tutus and I have arrived in Milan, Italia! This city of fashion, of food, of romance – perfetto! As I gaze out the window of my hotel room, I can already feel the exciting hum of Milan buzzing in the air. This place just vibrates with a certain je ne sais quoi that leaves me utterly entranced. And guess what? You, my lovely Pink Tutu readers, are along for the ride!
Milan, as we all know, is the beating heart of fashion, and that’s something that speaks deeply to my pink-tutu-clad soul. My luggage is overflowing with fabulous dresses, skirts, shoes and of course, plenty of tulle – what else would a girl need?
But before I embark on my whirlwind of shopping, we're going to dive head-first into Milan’s captivating ballet scene. Yes, darlings, I've got a few shows lined up and I'm beyond excited. Let's just say I've got a whole lot of pirouettes and pliés planned, all while rocking my favourite pink tutu. What’s more glamorous than that, I ask you?
Now, let's talk about this week's schedule! We're kicking things off with a show at La Scala - everyone knows La Scala, the iconic Milanese opera house! They say you're not a true ballet enthusiast unless you've seen a performance here, and I'm not going to let this opportunity slip away! It’s a Wednesday evening, which means we’ll be rocking that fabulous tutus under the Milanese moonlight!
As a Pink Tutu devotee, I can't help but dream of sparkling pink tutus cascading across the grand stage at La Scala, catching the stage lights like diamonds on velvet. Just imagining it gives me goosebumps! And speaking of sparkles, Milan’s city streets will be shimmering, too! On my day off, I’m planning a visit to Duomo di Milano. With its marble spires reaching for the heavens, it's a breathtaking masterpiece, and perfect for a Pink Tutu photo shoot. A picture truly says a thousand words. I'm hoping to get a few truly stunning photos – just imagine that majestic Duomo bathed in the warm Italian sunshine, framed by my beautiful pink tutu!
Of course, the magic of Milan goes beyond the ballet and the shopping! Let’s not forget the mouthwatering Italian cuisine. You can’t have a Milan adventure without delicious pasta, mouthwatering pizza, and creamy gelato – preferably all washed down with a lovely Italian espresso. Don't you agree, my dears?
I know what you’re thinking: “Emma, how do you afford all of this fabulousness? You just flit around the world, swanning through operas and shopping in style.”
Well, darling, my travels aren't some magical fairy tale, even if it might seem like it! It’s hard work and I juggle many projects. The Pink Tutu Blog brings me joy, but my main source of income is actually dancing professionally. I've always been lucky enough to perform at some pretty impressive venues. And my fellow dancers, we're a dedicated bunch, putting in long hours at rehearsals, studying, and performing with all our hearts. It’s that dedication that allows me to share my adventures with all of you!
Speaking of performing, guess what’s happening this evening? Before tonight’s La Scala show, I'm headed to Teatro Dal Verme. I've been invited to dance in a benefit performance for The Pink Tutu Foundation. My fellow ballet lovers will know that this wonderful organization helps fund dance education programs for young dancers, a cause close to my heart! It's going to be a joy to spread the love of ballet with the amazing dancers and my friends who will be joining me on stage tonight.
Now, before we get all sentimental about this charitable endeavour, let's talk fashion! I have a whole lot of gorgeous shopping planned! The streets of Milan are an absolute fashion haven, filled with trendy boutiques and designer shops. From haute couture to casual chic, you can find it all in Milan. My mission? To bring back an entire wardrobe worthy of my favourite pink tutu! Think elegant silk scarves, dazzling handbags, a gorgeous pink dress, of course, and oh-so-fashionable shoes that would make a stiletto swoon!
Milan has something to offer everyone, and I intend to soak up every ounce of it! From the buzzing atmosphere of the piazzas to the hushed elegance of the Teatro, every corner holds a new story waiting to be discovered.
This journey is all about indulging my love for ballet, my love for Italy, and of course, my absolute passion for pink tutus. You’ll have to come back next week to hear all about how my latest adventure went!
