Pink Tutu Milan - Post #329 - Wednesday, 2001-09-26

Ciao Bella!

It's Wednesday, the 26th of September, and I'm finally settling into my Milan apartment. I've been so busy, travelling by tram and train to catch all the amazing performances I can. I mean, Milan is just bursting with talent!

Remember I mentioned a week ago how excited I was about this trip? Well, let me tell you, it's been even more fabulous than I imagined! I can't wait to tell you all about it.

This week, I decided to make Milan my canvas and create a true Pink Tutu experience. This city, with its chic boutiques and elegant architecture, simply demands a touch of whimsy, don't you think? So, my darling readers, let me whisk you away on my latest Pink Tutu adventures!

A Ballerina's Delight: Milan's Dance Scene

Milan, I must say, is a haven for a ballet lover like myself. This weekend, I saw the most incredible show - the Scala Theatre production of Swan Lake! It was simply breathtaking. The swans glided across the stage with such grace and artistry, I could have watched them forever. I was swept away by the romance, the sorrow, and the ultimate triumph of love in this classic tale. And, of course, no performance is complete without a dazzling pink tutu! My eyes were glued to the ballerina's performance, her pink tutu a breathtaking beacon of elegance.

Speaking of ballet, you wouldn't believe how much fun I had at the ballet class at the Teatro alla Scala yesterday! Imagine, darling, actually dancing in the legendary Scala theatre. I just couldn't believe it was actually happening. They even had a lovely little tea room nearby where I indulged in some delectable pastries. After a day of dancing and feasting, I returned to my flat, my tired legs humming with happiness. I wouldn't trade this for anything.

Shopping and Fashion: Pink Tutu Finds

Okay, now for the pièce de résistance of Milan – the shopping! My dear readers, the sheer variety of stunning boutiques is astounding. I feel as though I've stepped into a fashion dream. But let me tell you, the real joy comes from discovering the perfect Pink Tutu ensemble. Imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon a little boutique just off the Via Montenapoleone. It was chock-full of beautiful accessories – ribbons, feather boas, even tiny top hats for tutus.

After spending a delightful afternoon amongst the frothy boas and sparkly hair combs, I finally landed upon the perfect accessory – a stunning pair of rose gold earrings, glittering like tiny dancing diamonds. I felt like I'd just acquired a touch of Milanese magic! Of course, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu adventure without a touch of pink. I spied a shop full of the most beautiful pink purses and handbags and treated myself to a tiny, delicately crafted pink leather clutch. Now, I simply have to find the perfect occasion to wear it. Maybe it'll make its debut at one of the opera houses this week!

Tram Ride Ramblings: A Taste of Milan

Who needs a cab when you have Milan's fabulous tram network? Every ride is a charming experience – I can't get enough of watching the world whizz by as I ride around in style.

During one of my many tram rides, I met the sweetest gentleman, Francesco. He was a local Milanese with an incredible passion for his city's history. He regaled me with stories of the Duomo, Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper, and all the artistic gems hidden within the streets. My heart simply soared. I loved hearing about the past and imagining all the history swirling around us.

Pink Tutu for Every Day

As I mentioned before, my aim is to bring the Pink Tutu joy to every part of my life. And guess what? The lovely Francesco gave me a great idea. Why not host a Pink Tutu picnic in the gardens around the Duomo, he said? I mean, just imagine – a symphony of pink tutus swirling in the heart of Milan. Now wouldn't that be delightful?

It might take some organising but just you wait! Imagine the perfect picture: Sun-kissed cheeks, laughing friends, a delicious picnic feast and, of course, the dazzling sparkle of pink tutus. I can almost hear the giggles!

I've already contacted a few local dancers and musicians who are absolutely thrilled about this crazy Pink Tutu dream of mine.

Oh, darling, just you wait. I'll keep you all updated on this little Pink Tutu picnic extravaganza.

Pink Tutu Musings

Do you know, I have this little tradition. Every night, before I go to sleep, I sit by my window with a glass of prosecco and simply watch Milan wake up. The city's lights flicker on, the streets begin to buzz, and the people of Milan embark on their day.

As I sit there watching, it occurs to me that the true beauty of Milan lies not just in its breathtaking architecture, its delicious food, and its bustling shopping streets but in its energy. There's this almost tangible buzz of creativity that thrums beneath the city. You can practically feel it.

My darling readers, there’s nothing more empowering than taking a pink tutu and going after your dreams! You don’t need to have it all figured out, all you need is a touch of whimsy and the courage to embrace life. Just follow your Pink Tutu!

I’ll leave you with this lovely little quote from my favourite ballet, "Giselle."

"The soul has wings!" And I couldn’t agree more.

I’ll catch up with you all next Monday, my darlings, with more Pink Tutu adventures from sunny Milan. Until then, keep dancing, keep dreaming, and embrace the beauty of life in your own little Pink Tutu way!

Love always,

Emma.
