Pink Tutu Milan - #330 - Wednesday, October 3rd 2001

Ciao, darlings!

Welcome back to Pink Tutu Milan, your weekly dose of pink-tastic fashion, ballet brilliance, and travel tales from the glamorous city of Milan. It's me, your favourite tutu-wearing travel enthusiast, Emma, bringing you the latest from my Italian adventures.

This week, Milan has been dazzling me with a whole new kind of sparkle – it's Fashion Week! Yes, the catwalks are overflowing with the latest trends, the streets are buzzing with fashionistas in their finest attire, and I, naturally, am immersed in it all!

Before we delve into the glamorous details, let's take a little journey back to Derbyshire, where my love for ballet began. It's a magical memory - I was just a little girl, standing on tippy toes in a worn-out tutu, swirling and twirling in our living room. It was that day, in my very own little ballet world, that the pink tutu dream started! And as luck would have it, pink is just about the hottest colour this season. So you know I've been embracing every shade of pink with the confidence of a seasoned prima ballerina!

Speaking of confidence, I was thrilled to grace the stage again last night with my dance company in a beautiful rendition of 'Swan Lake'. Nothing feels quite like the exhilarating thrill of performing in front of a cheering crowd, their energy propelling me through every pirouette.

Speaking of stages, that brings us back to Milan Fashion Week! The city's legendary Teatro alla Scala has become the heart of all things fashionable this week. The very name evokes images of gilded grandeur and sparkling chandeliers, and this week it has lived up to every expectation. This is where fashion meets art, where creativity explodes into a spectacular display of sartorial brilliance!

This morning, I woke up to the soft patter of rain falling on my little Italian balcony. I snuggled into my favourite pink robe and brewed a steaming pot of espresso - a true Italian morning ritual! The streets are bustling, a symphony of horns, voices, and the rhythmic chatter of the city. But through it all, there's a certain charm, a graceful flow, that draws you in.

Of course, my day began with a little ballet class. You can't travel without keeping your skills sharp, and I've found a fabulous studio tucked away in a quiet alley, the smell of fresh sawdust hanging in the air. My teacher, a charming, older ballerina, takes me through some complex steps, each one a tiny, graceful dance.

Later, I embarked on a shopping adventure - I must confess I couldn't resist the lure of Milan's famous fashion boutiques. You could say I am living out every ballerina's dream! Walking through the cobbled streets, I stumbled upon the most gorgeous dress. It was the colour of a dusky rose petal, with intricate detailing, a perfect shade to compliment my beloved pink tutu! I imagine it dancing gracefully with me on stage - an explosion of colour and movement.

And it's not just the catwalks that are buzzing with excitement. Milan has been the backdrop for countless amazing fashion collaborations this week, one involving the beautiful Dolce & Gabbana and their latest collection! They're known for their vibrant colours and elaborate designs, and let me tell you, they have absolutely outdone themselves this season!

Let's talk about pink! I don't think there is a more glamorous color than pink! It's playful, yet sophisticated. It's elegant, yet empowering! This week, I've been wearing pink everywhere - from pink silk scarves that complement my hair, to pink shoes that perfectly match my tutu! There's even a fantastic new gelato stand called "Pink Paradise", selling only pink gelato, imagine! It's like they read my mind!

But I digress, we're back to the catwalk and all those glorious clothes! I'm seeing so many designers celebrating the feminine spirit. We've had romantic, billowing dresses in delicate floral prints, sleek tailoring for those modern day princesses, and gowns that shimmer and flow with the lightness of a dancer's steps. It's been inspiring, to say the least!

The highlight of my week has been attending a breathtaking ballet performance at La Scala. The artistry was impeccable. The dancers moved like poetry, gliding effortlessly across the stage. Every leap, every turn was pure perfection, a testament to years of dedicated training. They twirled in graceful arcs, the rustling of their tutus adding a soft whisper to the music. Their energy was electrifying. I almost cried! It was a performance I won't forget.

You see, darlings, ballet isn't just about a fancy dance, it's about elegance and grace, it's about being free and living your dreams! That's what makes this pink tutu journey so special, and I believe everyone deserves a little pink magic in their lives!

But as my evening comes to a close, I'm leaving the stage and settling down with a good book, a warm cup of hot chocolate, and a glass of bubbly. As the lights dim and the stars begin to shimmer above Milan's skyline, I reflect on all the wonderful memories made this week. This is what life is all about - embracing every beautiful moment with a smile and a touch of pink magic.

Until next week, my lovelies, remember to spread the love, embrace the joy of dance, and most importantly, keep rocking your pink tutus! Remember you can find all my posts, my photos, and my outfits on the Pink-Tutu website www.pink-tutu.com Until next Monday darlings! XOXO, Emma
