Pink Tutu Milan #362: La Dolce Vita, Baby!

Ciao bellas! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, Emma, signing in from the fashion capital of the world – Milan! 🇮🇹 I've been soaking up the sunshine (yes, even here in Milan, it sometimes peeks out from behind the clouds!), strolling through the stylish streets, and most importantly, swooning over all the stunning tutus I’ve seen.

You guys know how much I adore a good tutu, and trust me, Milan hasn't disappointed. There are tutus for every occasion, from the classic, elegant designs to the more playful and whimsical ones. I can't wait to share my sartorial finds with you, but first, let’s rewind the clock to the start of my Milan adventure.

A Train Ride and a Pastel Dream

This week, my journey to Milan began in Derbyshire, where I bid farewell to my family and fluffy little pug, Pierre. After a hearty breakfast (my mum's scones are simply divine), I packed my pink tulle luggage and headed to the station, tutu flowing with the wind like a majestic pink cloud. ☁️

My chosen mode of transport? A good old-fashioned train, of course! The journey across Europe always makes me feel so romantic, gazing out of the window at the rolling hills and quaint villages whizzing by.

The train arrived in Milan in the late afternoon, bathed in a golden light. I instantly felt the energy of the city, the rhythm of its heart beating in time with the trams and scooters buzzing around me.

After settling into my charming little hotel room (pink walls, duh!), I embarked on my first Milanese mission: shopping for a new tutu. This city has so many amazing boutiques, it’s impossible to resist.

Tutustopia: A Feast for the Senses

Milan is truly a tutustopia! I ventured into the famous Quadrilatero della Moda district, and my jaw literally dropped. It was like a magical land of pink tulle and satin. Every shop window displayed exquisite ballet garments, from sequined leotards to breathtaking pointe shoes.

My inner ballerina was positively squealing with delight. I simply had to grab a cappuccino (it’s essential fuel for any serious shopaholic) and take it all in.

My heart nearly skipped a beat when I stumbled upon a tiny, vintage boutique bursting with tulle. Rows of pastel tutus hung from the ceiling, a veritable rainbow of pink, peach, lavender, and sky blue. It felt like a ballerina’s paradise. I snagged the most gorgeous baby pink tutu – a simple yet classic design with just the right amount of pouf – for a ridiculously good price!

The ultimate testament to my shopping prowess? This delightful find led to a delightful little impromptu photo shoot right there in the shop, surrounded by tulle heaven. My Instagram feed went positively boom!

The Show Must Go On… On Ice!

I wasn't just in Milan for fashion. Ballet is always my number one priority, and Milan certainly doesn't disappoint when it comes to stunning performances. This Wednesday, I took a seat at the breathtaking Teatro degli Arcimboldi for an absolutely mesmerizing ice ballet.

I have to confess, I was a little nervous about a ballet on ice – a totally different discipline than the classical ballet I'm accustomed to. But the beauty of a live performance lies in the ability to be completely swept away by the art on stage. The ice skaters were incredibly talented, moving gracefully across the ice with such ease and strength. It truly felt like a magical ballet on ice.

The costumes, though, were what truly stole the show for me. They were magnificent! From sleek and streamlined skating outfits in elegant blacks and silvers to tutus made entirely of sparkly silver, each costume perfectly embodied the story and character being portrayed. The designers certainly paid close attention to detail and created pieces that were as functional as they were stunning.

I couldn't resist snagging a quick backstage peek before heading home. You see, it’s all about finding those behind-the-scenes gems – little stories about how the magic happens, like seeing a group of performers gather around a coffee machine, the same way ballerinas would around a barre in any studio. These little moments are always fascinating to me.

Milanese Moments: Finding the Charm

But it wasn't just about tutus and performances for me this week. I also enjoyed taking a long, leisurely stroll down Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, the beating heart of Milan. The beautiful architecture, the bustle of the streets, the aroma of freshly baked bread filling the air – it truly painted a beautiful picture.

I particularly loved sitting at a small cafe overlooking Piazza della Scala, watching the locals go about their day. I even had a brief encounter with a local artist who gifted me a small charcoal drawing of the iconic Duomo! Such a charming surprise!

And of course, I wouldn't be a proper visitor to Milan without savoring the delicious food scene. Oh, the gelato, the pizza, the pasta – a culinary journey that made my taste buds sing!

Speaking of food, I found myself in a tiny, little pastry shop, not unlike a Parisian Patisserie, with an enchanting display of cakes and pastries. They all looked so delightful, I was like a little girl in a candy store. I had a little slice of raspberry tart with a dusting of icing sugar – absolutely divine.

Pink Tutus: A World Without Boundaries

Milan has truly captured my heart. From the bustling fashion streets to the stunning ballet performances and the delicious food, there's truly something for everyone in this magical city.

My mission? To spread the love of tutus everywhere, from the streets of Milan to the world at large. Because tutus are not just for ballet dancers; they're a symbol of fun, freedom, and creativity. I believe every woman has a little ballerina inside them, just waiting to twirl and shine.

As always, I hope this week's Milan adventure has inspired you to embrace your own inner pink tutu and let your spirit soar.

Until next time, bellas, remember – it’s never too late to twirl your way into happiness! 💖

Yours truly, Emma
