Pink Tutu Milan #370: A Day of Delights in La Bella Vita
Ciao, darling tutu-lovers! It's Emma here, reporting live from the magical city of Milan, a true haven for fashion and fabulousness. This week's post marks my 370th Pink Tutu Milan blog, a testament to my unwavering passion for spreading the pink tutu love across the globe! I'm in Italy, naturally, but don't worry, the Derbyshire girl in me hasn't forgotten her roots – I'm just indulging in a bit of 'la dolce vita' while we're at it!
Now, today, 10th July 2002, the sun was shining brightly, just like my favourite pink tutu, as I embarked on a day filled with exciting discoveries. The tram journey to the centre of Milan was, as always, a vibrant whirlwind of life and colour – something that I absolutely adore about Italy.
As soon as I stepped out of the tram, the familiar fragrance of freshly baked pastries from the local panetteria filled my senses. And wouldn't you know it, there, right on the corner, was a charming little shop bursting with the most gorgeous, tulle-licious, oh-so-pink tutus! Naturally, I just had to investigate. You see, dear readers, I can never resist a pink tutu shop, even in the middle of my favourite shopping street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II! It felt like I’d stepped right into a scene from a ballerina movie, just waiting for a graceful pirouette. I ended up treating myself to a blush-pink, shimmering tutu, which felt simply divine against my skin!
Milan, my dear readers, is a haven for a pink-loving tutu enthusiast. You simply must explore its hidden corners, where you might just stumble upon treasures you never knew existed. There’s something about this city, this energy, that encourages self-expression, a philosophy I embrace wholeheartedly. It is a beautiful collision of classical Italian glamour and vibrant street style, a sartorial symphony for the senses.
But, darling, my day wasn't all about shopping (though it did include an incredible vintage find of a 1960s pink dress, oh my!). This afternoon, I made my way to Teatro alla Scala, a grand temple to the art of ballet and opera, with a majestic facade that was practically screaming for a pink tutu photo op. But, of course, I didn't dare enter in my tutu - that's a big no-no at this prestigious theatre! Still, the mere fact of being in its presence, surrounded by its elegant grandeur, had me feeling all sorts of prima ballerina vibes.
The evening took me to Teatro Franco Parenti for a captivating street theatre performance. Imagine, dear reader, a world of acrobats and contortionists, all in black, telling a silent story using only their bodies. It was spellbinding! There’s something undeniably fascinating about the beauty and strength of the human form, the way these incredible dancers transformed themselves into graceful statues, powerful warriors, and even dancing marionettes! The whole performance left me speechless and totally inspired. I’m certain the performers felt that very Italian sense of ‘la forza’, a certain magic of connection with their art that makes me swoon!
Tonight's performance had me thinking – my dance performances pay for all these incredible travels. And let's face it, it’s been quite a journey so far. The sheer variety of breathtaking cities I've seen, the endless inspiration that these travels bring to my tutu collection – and to my creativity as a whole – well, it makes all the hard work completely worthwhile. You know, darling, the dedication and hard work that go into mastering the ballet - that dedication is a powerful force! I wouldn’t trade these experiences, these memories, for anything.
As the sun sets on another fabulous day in Milan, I feel a sense of peace settle over me, like a sigh of satisfaction after a perfectly executed arabesque. This pink-loving ballerina has a new pink tutu, new stories to tell, and a renewed sense of excitement for what tomorrow might bring. I've got so much to be grateful for!
Remember, my lovelies, wear pink tutus every day, embrace the beauty in the everyday, and keep chasing those dreams. This week’s blog post was a bit on the longer side – there’s just so much to tell, so much to experience in a city like Milan, that I find myself getting carried away!
Until next week, dear friends!
Emma xx
