Pink Tutu Milan: #371 – A Whirlwind Wednesday in Milan!

Ciao bellas!

It’s your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, Emma, back from Milan with another exciting update. This week, it’s a whirlwind Wednesday, jam-packed with all the wonders of this fabulous Italian city. Let's dive in, shall we?

A Touch of Pink in the City of Fashion

Milan! A city that breathes style and sophistication. Just strolling through the streets, I feel a tangible buzz of creativity and elegance. As a devoted fashionista with a serious passion for pink, I was utterly enthralled. I mean, even the trams here are chic – can you believe it?! And the colours… Oh, the colours!

Speaking of colour, have I mentioned the gorgeous pastel-pink scarf I found nestled in a tiny boutique off Via Torino? It was like a little whisper of magic amongst all the bold, vibrant fabrics, a beautiful nod to the elegance and softness that I believe every outfit needs. Naturally, I just had to add it to my collection!

I've been trying to capture the magic of Milan in my photos. Every corner, every shop window seems to beckon with style inspiration. I’m already dreaming of transforming my little flat in Derbyshire with these Parisian chic influences - think creamy walls with splashes of delicate pink accents! But enough about my dreams, let’s get back to Milan…

Dance, Dance, Dance

Milan, being a hub of arts and culture, of course has an abundance of dance. I've been indulging in my favourite pastime, and the performances have been absolutely divine. The Milan Opera House is a breathtaking venue – truly a palace of ballet. Last night, I saw a modern ballet that had me completely captivated, the dancers were simply breathtaking, their grace and elegance so moving. It was a story about a woman's journey of self-discovery – so inspiring and beautiful, you know? There was this one move, so powerful and yet so graceful, where the dancer lifted her arms in this delicate arc. My heart almost burst with the beauty of it all. I even tried to replicate it this morning in my ballet class, although, I’m afraid my arms aren’t as graceful as the professional ballerina. (A girl can dream!)

Speaking of ballet class, it was wonderful! I popped into the most delightful studio right next to the Duomo. They have these huge, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the square – how gorgeous! There’s something so invigorating about getting your exercise, perfecting your technique, and at the same time watching the world go by. I'm feeling very inspired – I think it’s time to add another dance-inspired accessory to my collection! I can picture it now - a blush-pink leotard and a feather boa… maybe with a sprinkle of sequins. (Anyone have any recommendations for Milanese boutiques selling glamorous accessories? I'm all ears! 😄)

Eating and Shopping – Oh My!

As much as I love the dance, food is a major part of any Italian trip. And Milan? Well, it's simply an Italian paradise. I had the most divine pasta at a small, unassuming trattoria the other day. It was this divine combination of fresh pasta with roasted vegetables, drizzled with olive oil. Heavenly! And let's not forget the gelato! A must-try! My favourite flavour this week has been pistachio - I mean, can you beat that heavenly green hue?

But, the day didn't end there! After a delightful lunch, it was time to unleash my inner shopaholic. It seems like every street in Milan is a treasure trove of delightful boutiques and fashion houses. I spent a blissful hour at a small, independent shop just around the corner from my Airbnb. They had the most beautiful range of floral prints, and I couldn’t resist buying a delicate rose-patterned silk blouse for a future ballet performance. It’s going to look absolutely perfect with my signature pink tutu! ✨

Living a Little Pink-tastic

You know, I’m having a truly fantastic time in Milan. This city is full of energy, art, and beauty - everything a girl could possibly dream of. The people are incredibly warm and welcoming, and it feels like everyone here has an eye for fashion. Of course, the trams and train are proving very useful, particularly with navigating through the cobblestone streets and historic squares. There’s a certain charm to them – definitely something different from the Tube back home in Derbyshire. It’s funny to see these modern people bustling about their day in the middle of these magnificent old buildings. They make these buildings come alive with new energy and excitement, reminding me that even something old can have a new, fun twist!

The locals also have such an interesting fashion style. They manage to look incredibly elegant while still embracing unique, sometimes quirky details, and always adding a bit of vibrant colour - perfect inspiration for my own wardrobe! One woman I saw in the Piazza Duomo just the other day looked absolutely incredible – a deep burgundy suit, perfectly paired with a pastel pink shirt and delicate gold earrings, just perfect! And you know me – it’s a pink dream! 😉

A Week in Pink (And Tutu-filled) Highlights

I am going to write this quickly – before the magic of Milan fully casts its spell over me:

  • Ballet bliss: Oh, the grace of a ballet dancer… my inspiration for everything.
  • Pink Perfection: From my scarf to my blouse, Milan has gifted me some beautiful new treasures! I can’t wait to show you all!
  • Street-Style Splendor: So many people with their own unique styles and bold choices, like I said – full inspiration!
  • The Beauty of the Everyday: Even a simple coffee shop can be breathtakingly beautiful with a touch of art or some delicious smelling pastry.

But above all, I've had the opportunity to truly live in this city. To wander the streets, savour the food, soak in the atmosphere, and find a little piece of magic everywhere I look. The highlight of my trip was definitely discovering a little hidden gem tucked away on Via Montenapoleone, an incredible boutique showcasing some beautiful pink tutus - you can see why my head just about exploded! I’ve even discovered that they hold dance workshops in the back room - I think a return visit may be in order!

You know, I always felt that fashion was so much more than just clothes – it's an expression of who we are, an artistic outlet, and a celebration of beauty, and in Milan, that is so tangible. It’s the ultimate city for inspiration, for finding that inner “spark” that shines so bright within us. And what could be more beautiful and inspirational than embracing our femininity, embracing colour, embracing pink? That is what I live for. So I implore you, wear a pink tutu! Go out, explore the world, discover its beauty, embrace your inner elegance – that’s the message of the pink tutu!

So until next Monday, I’m off to get ready for a performance - after all, a girl has to fund those stylish purchases! 😉

Ciao Bellas, Emma xoxo
