Pink Tutu Milan #386: Ciao Bella! 🇮🇹

Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be writing to you from the vibrant and beautiful city of Milan! This week, it's a little bit of Italy, a whole lot of pink, and an absolute whirlwind of ballet and fashion that has left me positively buzzing. 🩰✨

This past week in Milan has been a pure joy! As a big believer in taking the road less travelled, I decided to leave the tourist traps behind and immerse myself in the genuine charm of the city. And boy, did I hit the jackpot!

My journey started in a classic Italian tram, my pink tutu swishing dramatically with every jolt and turn. (Can't have a blog post without a little tutu action, can we?) The windows offered up stunning glimpses of bustling piazzas and elegant architecture, the scent of freshly brewed espresso and warm pastries wafting through the air. Oh, to be lost in this gorgeous chaos!

First things first, let's talk about food, shall we? It's practically a sin to come to Milan and not indulge in their culinary delights! 🤤 Every corner held a promise of a perfect espresso and a freshly baked panini. I tried the classic "tramezzino," a miniature sandwich brimming with fresh ingredients - oh my, so delicious! My taste buds are still tingling. 😋

After indulging in a carb-licious lunch, I decided to dive headfirst into Milan's cultural scene. The ballet performances here are truly world-class, and I was lucky enough to see a stunning rendition of "Swan Lake" at the Teatro alla Scala. The music, the dancers, the entire experience was absolutely breathtaking. My heart soared as I watched those graceful ballerinas, their tulle skirts swirling in a delicate symphony of movements. Seeing that performance definitely gave me some serious performance envy - I was practically doing pliés in my seat!

Later that evening, after an evening filled with "Mamma Mia!" (the musical, not the actual Mamma Mia - that would be hilarious in Milan!) and a divine pizza that even my taste buds found a touch too much cheese, I was utterly exhausted. (Remember, that carb-heavy day still needs to be justified with a tutu outfit.) So I settled down in a cute little hotel - with, yes, a pink tutu thrown nonchalantly over the back of a chair, obviously - and dreamt of pink tutus and delicate Italian pastries.

Of course, a trip to Milan wouldn't be complete without some serious shopping! I spent an entire day wandering through the streets of Via Monte Napoleone, eyeing up all the latest designer collections and window shopping for tutus (it's never too early to plan my next performance outfit, darling). Imagine the pink tutus they must have here - all the lace, silk and glitter - a girl can only dream! ✨

And I simply must mention the amazing fashion boutiques. I practically lived in a shop on the first day. I have never seen so many amazing shoes, dresses and jackets. There was a shoe shop selling a pink sequined stiletto... I may have snagged a few. I mean, you know me - pink tutus can't go alone! 👠💕

As a devoted lover of all things pink and fluffy, I just couldn't leave Milan without picking up some new tutu treasures for my ever-growing collection. I mean, it's the most important part of my look, darling. Who needs diamonds when you've got a good tutu? 💎

Of course, no journey to Italy would be complete without a dash of Italian romance. I stumbled upon the most charming cafe nestled in a tiny alleyway, complete with a violinist serenading passersby with breathtaking music. I've even added it to my "To Be Seen in a Pink Tutu" list for my next visit. This was pure Milan magic, a memory I'll cherish forever. 💖

Milan is truly a city that never sleeps! The streets are buzzing with energy, and the city is a beautiful blend of history, culture, and a whole lot of fashion (let's face it, who doesn't love a little retail therapy, especially in Milan?).

Speaking of fashion, you know that my passion for pink is infectious. While I might not be wearing my pink tutu every day (although I have been tempted!) I've embraced the city's vibrant sense of style. You could even say that my whole life is an ode to a passion for all things glamorous and exciting, with a generous dose of pink, of course!

My friends have definitely called out my passion. My Mum, God love her, said I must stop with the pink! 😜

Speaking of family and friends - who's watching the website this week? Anyone can sign up and write their favourite things about being in a tutu. Let's be honest, they're fantastic! #PinkTutuMilan : Behind The Scenes!

Remember I said that my entire life is a tribute to glamour and pink?

Well, it doesn't stop with tutus and pretty things. Being on the road takes a lot of planning - remember, I fund my travels through my performances. I'm always in the lookout for performance opportunities, it means I'll get to visit the best theatres and even do some international touring - it's absolutely brilliant!

But when it comes to keeping up appearances while wearing my favourite pink tutus, well, that’s a whole different story!

So this week, let's peek behind the curtain, and let you in on my 'glamorous' backstage world… You can always find me in the corner of the dressing room… Ahem

This is how I actually look without a camera!

Hair Spray : You can't have an amazing look without amazing hair, darling. That's why my hair spray is my most essential tool! Hair up in a bun for a day of ballet and travel, or loose for a glam look when the evening performance rolls around! It's the key to looking perfectly coiffed throughout the day. (You'll never catch me with bad hair!)

Makeup Essentials: A bright pink blush is my essential backstage must-have, it makes me feel amazing, and it’s the secret weapon for creating the perfect rosy cheeked glow! (Think doll-like, a pink flush! 🩰) I also swear by waterproof mascara, and if I'm being a little daring I’ll add a little pink lipgloss. The pink lip gloss always seems to go perfectly with the pink tutu - It's practically magic! 💄✨

The Pink Tutu: And finally, there's the queen of them all. This week I've actually got several choices with me: The one I’m wearing right now has some serious sparkly sequins and lace detail, but my ‘Go-To’ pink tutu is my absolute favourite, darling, because it can be dressed up or dressed down, depending on what the day brings. A classic tutu is like having a perfect black dress - an essential! 👗

But of course, you never know what kind of pink tutu you’re going to feel like wearing, until you're ready to step on stage. (We're always getting new tutus – that's what makes it so much fun, darling! Who could ever choose?)

Let me know what YOU think are the best tools for ballet in the comments, I want to hear from you! 😉

So that's my life - pink tutus, Italian romance, and, of course, all things glamorous. What more could a girl ask for? Until next week darling! 💕✨

xx

#PinkTutuMilan : The Week's Top 5

Okay, I’ve got one final thought: Milan’s had me completely swept away this week, and I know how busy life can be, So here are some extra nuggets that I hope you’ll love, right from the Pink Tutu Archives:

  1. Travel in Style: Never be afraid to get those dancing legs moving and explore your city or town, darling! Whether you're taking the tram, bus or train, just put your favourite pink tutu on, and watch how everyone smiles. It always seems to make people’s days!
  2. Get Creative: What can YOU do to add more sparkle and fun to your life, just like we do in the pink tutu world? Every day is a chance for something special – be creative, take photos and have fun.
  3. The Tutu for Every Occasion: You've seen mine, But how do YOU wear your pink tutu? A full length tutu with sequins at the opera, or just a cute pink tutu and ballet shoes on a trip to the park? You are beautiful, no matter what you're wearing! Let your personality shine through, always, darling! 💕
  4. Love Every Dance: My best advice? Never stop learning, darling. The ballet world is so exciting, but it’s also all about hard work and never stopping! What inspires YOU? It’s never too late to try a new dance class.

p.s: It's almost Halloween, which means the biggest pink tutu costume contest in the world. The only thing I’m excited about more than being in Milan this week is putting on the most spectacular costume, complete with an elaborate pink tutu (because you always need a touch of pink)! You know what that means… It's time to unleash your inner ballerina! Don't be afraid to stand out, darling!

Happy Halloween! 💖🎃
