Pink Tutu Milan #396: Ciao Bella, Milano! (and a Pink Tutu Dream)
Buongiorno, darlings! It’s Emma here, writing to you from the magical city of Milan, Italy! My weekly pilgrimage to this fabulous fashion hub continues, and as always, I'm ready to share all the pink tutu goodness with you!
Today is Wednesday, 8th January 2003, and the crisp air here in Milano is filled with the promise of a spectacular day! As the sun peeks over the city rooftops, casting a warm glow across the terracotta tiled buildings, I can't help but feel a surge of excitement.
What's on the agenda for this fabulously fashionable day? You might ask... Well, darling, it’s a whole heap of fun!
This morning, I treated myself to a delightful breakfast of freshly baked croissants and strong Italian coffee. You just can't beat the simple pleasures in life, can you? Especially when they’re enjoyed in a cosy cafe overlooking a bustling piazza! And speaking of a delightful breakfast… you just have to see the outfit I put together! A fluffy pink tutu (of course!), a shimmering lilac top, and a chic, yet playful pair of white boots. A true masterpiece, wouldn't you agree?
Speaking of "masterpieces" darling… Did you know that we’re just a week away from one of Milan’s most anticipated theatrical events? The premiere of the stunning ‘Sleeping Beauty’ ballet at Teatro alla Scala! I just can’t wait! Imagine… elegant tutus, soaring leaps, captivating costumes and the breathtaking beauty of the iconic theatre. Sigh! Pure magic, I tell you.
This afternoon, I'm planning to visit the stunning Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. This breathtaking architectural marvel is simply irresistible! From its glass vaulted roof to its elegant shops, it's a true testament to Italian style and beauty. Of course, I wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu blogger without a little bit of shopping therapy. I’ve already spied a divine pair of pearl-encrusted ballet flats that are begging to be taken home… (Perhaps a pink tutu would look simply sensational with them!).
And then, tonight… a true ballet highlight awaits! It's the incredible 'Romeo and Juliet' performance at the Teatro Dal Verme, darling! You know how much I love this tragic tale of love and longing. The incredible passion of Romeo and Juliet, expressed through the fluidity of dance and the delicate whisper of violins, is truly awe-inspiring. And I can’t wait to capture all the best moments in a little photo diary to share with you later.
So, with my little pink tutu bag filled with excitement for all the fabulous events that await, I'm ready to embrace this spectacular Wednesday in Milan! The city pulses with vibrant energy and style – an infectious feeling that draws you in and never lets go.
However, my journey here began, like so many, in a humble town – my little corner of Derbyshire, England. Where life felt far removed from the swirling, glittery world of Milan. But with each new ballet performance, each exquisite outfit, each dazzling journey on a tram or train… my love for this captivating artform grew, fuelled by the sheer magic of the dance itself. My desire to share this magic became stronger each day, leading me to create this blog. My journey has taught me that you don’t need a magical fairy godmother, you just need a bit of grit, a whole lot of pink, and a sprinkle of pixie dust to create a little magic of your own.
This desire for magic and beauty is what makes this little Pink Tutu project so important to me. To inspire and encourage every little girl to chase her dreams… whether that means stepping onto a stage, dancing in the street, or just expressing her own inner sparkle through fashion.
So, as I explore the magnificent boulevards of Milano, I feel a powerful urge to whisper…
“Go on, wear a pink tutu…!” Just maybe, it will inspire you to create your own dance in the world!
To be continued next week. Ciao, Bella!
Lots of love,
Emma
