From cobblestone streets lined with chic boutiques to breathtaking architectural wonders, this city has captured my heart and filled my Instagram feed with endless picture-perfect moments.
A Touch of Derbyshire in Milan
Remember when I said that Pink Tutu wouldn't just be a blog but a movement? Well, my mission to spread the joy of pink tutus reaches every corner of the globe, and today I find myself carrying a little bit of Derbyshire, England, with me here in Milan. While Milan may be known for its modern fashion and edgy designs, I find myself gravitating towards the charm of vintage elegance. Think timeless silhouettes, exquisite fabrics, and, of course, my trusty pink tutu - because let's face it, every outfit is a little bit better with a twirl. 😉
A Perfect Day at the Opera
Now, no trip to Italy is complete without indulging in the beautiful, dramatic world of opera. I have a very special connection with opera - it was during a production of Tosca that I first fell in love with the idea of movement, the grand gesture, the expression of emotion through dance. That seed of passion led me to ballet, to my pink tutu, and here I am, living the dream!
So, on this particular Wednesday, the 16th of July, 2003, I found myself perched in the grand Teatro alla Scala. The rich velvet seats were so comfy, and the air was electric with anticipation as the first notes of "La Traviata" filled the auditorium. 🎻 It's almost magical, seeing the entire world become silent, breathlessly watching a story unfold on stage. I love how opera unites us all, regardless of language or culture, and I just had to share the experience with you all.
Post-Show Indulgence - A Feast for the Senses
After a stunning performance, I treated myself to a truly Italian experience – an enchanting little trattoria just off Piazza Duomo. The smells alone were a symphony – warm, fragrant basil, rich, savory parmesan, the perfect mix of sweetness and spice in their signature pomodoro sauce. You could say I was truly in my element. 😌 I was instantly transported to another time, indulging in a traditional pasta dish with a delicate salad on the side, and, of course, a delicious glass of Italian wine. There’s just something so romantic about enjoying a slow, savoured meal, letting the warmth of the sun kiss my skin and the conversations around me mingle with the city sounds.
Tram Travels & Fashion Finds
While the journey to my little trattoria was enchanting, let’s talk about my transport experience. There’s just something charming about Milan's tram system – so efficient and chic! I adore weaving through the vibrant city streets, watching the world go by while lost in the rhythm of my day. And with my trusty pink tutu on, I couldn't help but catch a few admiring glances! 😜
After lunch, I spent the afternoon indulging my love for fashion. I absolutely adore the shops lining Via della Spiga - every window was a kaleidoscope of colours and textures, and I practically fell into a luxurious state of dreaminess. Oh, the exquisite fabrics, the meticulous craftsmanship, the stunning designs! I might have had a minor crisis about my upcoming ballet performances (and my potential need for a new pink tutu…or three). But it's a crisis I'm perfectly happy to live through! ✨
