Pink Tutu Milan #451: Ciao Bella, From the City of Fashion!

Well, hello there darlings! It’s Wednesday, 28th January 2004 and yours truly is nestled in the heart of Milan, the city that just radiates chic. You know, even the pigeons look stylish here. swoon

I’ve arrived here bright and early after a fabulous train journey from Paris, where I had the absolute delight of performing in the ‘Moulin Rouge’ show at the legendary cabaret. Yes, darling, my little pink tutu stole the show – just a little wink wink. I absolutely love touring, especially when you can visit such magical places like Paris and Milan, truly the fashion capitals of the world.

Speaking of Milan, I simply must tell you about my exciting plans for this trip. Firstly, there’s an absolutely divine ballet performance this very evening! "Swan Lake," at the Teatro alla Scala, no less. I have my special pink tutu ready, which I've delicately decorated with swan feathers and little diamantes, and, let’s just say, I can hardly contain my excitement. And oh, did I mention the stunning shoes? Oh, just divine!

Now, let's dive into the wonders of this fashionable city. Today, I ventured onto the Milan Metro – oh my, how wonderfully sleek it is – to explore some of the magnificent shops on Via Montenapoleone. The craftsmanship, darling, the craftsmanship! These are not mere stores; these are works of art, havens of sartorial luxury.

My shopping spree resulted in a treasure trove of beautiful fabrics – silks, satins, and oh, so much lace – to create a bespoke new tutu for my ‘Swan Lake’ performance. Let me tell you, the Italians have an eye for exquisite fabric and colours. And guess what colour took my fancy? Yep, you guessed it! A divine blush pink – it’s just absolutely perfect!

Of course, no trip to Milan would be complete without a little espresso, served at a charming sidewalk cafe overlooking the Duomo, naturally. Just the right amount of kick to get me going. And I do enjoy a good Italian breakfast – just a light ricotta and almond cake with a touch of orange zest - just a wee bit sweet to get the day started in the most delightful manner!

Now, here's a tip for you all - make sure to take a ride on the tram. Yes, the Milanese tram! You can take it from the central station to the Sforza Castle. A real charming, authentic experience, even though it's definitely not as chic as the Metro. wink wink I’m planning a leisurely stroll to the castle tomorrow. Let me tell you, those gardens, simply enchanting, a fairytale setting.

This whole trip is absolutely captivating! The atmosphere, the people, the sights, the smells – truly sensory overload in the most positive way.

Oh, I've simply got to tell you about the lovely gentleman I met while strolling through the charming Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the shopping mall, which looks like an elegant palace from a bygone era, covered with a glass and steel roof. The gentleman was simply smitten with my pink tutu! We spent a good while discussing the art of ballet, and he even said I was his “Pink Ballerina of Dreams” – oh, my goodness, did I blush!

I’ll tell you all more about this encounter in next week’s blog, along with all the fabulous Milan fashion and ballet updates. Until then, keep your head high, embrace your inner princess, and remember to always sprinkle a little bit of pink tutu magic into your lives. Ciao bella!
